Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN I was a slugabed until seven a.m. Imagine! ‘Tis 38 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 70 and N.O.S. No plans at all for the day. As is our wont, we shall engage in high RDOS inactivities. I could do a few things around da cave that need doin’, but I don’t want to. Sup shall be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.
MOOOOOOM you could wear a flannel nightgown, socks, fuzzy slippers, put your hair in curlers with a hairnet and go as a Wally*World customer.
BooFae I heartily agree with the weather app. A great day for naps and follow-up naps!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!
As it happens, I have a WalMart shopping bag from somewhere… this has potential, tho I lack hair curlers. Must think on it…
OK, gotta get down to the basement to do my shoulder stuff and tread the mill before my day begins. It’s Laundry Day since we’re back on schedule more or less. So I’ll get this healthy crap out of the way, shower and dress, eat, then launder.
Yep. Fry bread topped with ground beef, cheese, peppers, etc. When we did our Southwest trips I recall them being listed as “Navajo tacos” on the menu.
Good morning all. Slept well and woke to sunshine and 40F temperatures. Will head out to do my Firday shopping in a bit, then swimmin’ in the afternoon and soccer practice at 5:30pm or so. The evening will be free for readin’ and internettin’. Heading to 71F so should be another nice day.
JtC, yeah, if my gym was like that, I’d be a little worried too…but the price is right (I get a bargain of $24.99/month since I have no extras, other gyms charge $10-20 more.
And I…got nothing. What?
Sari, maybe Rayleigh was just in a mood, dogs do get them. And don’t think I ever replaced a dead man/woman, did take a job where he and the team he worked with hated (and I do mean hated) each other, so I had to be very easy to get along with and not disagreeable to start. It worked out.
flyboy, thanks for the quote. I may have to read Shakespeare again one of these days, I expect a lot of those long passages will mean more now than when I was a high-
I have the same issue, I do try and relax before going in for an exam but my BP is always in the 149/95 range, while at home it’s never higher than 130/70.
shoe, thanks for sharing. Hope the Long Night isn’t to unpleasant.
boo fae, had to look up ‘truckle’ as a cheese, only use I knew of the word was “to act in a subservient manner” (per Merriam/Webster). So again my knowledge is expanded (and probably promptly forgotten by tomorrow…). Good luck to 'im Indoors.
And time to get dressed more or less properly and get the shopping done before the hordes of moms finish dropping off all the kids at school. Have a good firday all.
I made it when I was craving a Tommy’s burger for a ‘taste of home’. I found that it’s pretty close to Wienderschnitzel’s chili too. I think Wienerschnitzel uses chicken hot dogs, so I’d have to get those for authenticity. (Hm… I wonder how keto buns would turn out ‘steamed’…?)
Sounds very interesting-no one does history like you Brits!
When I win the lottery I’m hearing your way to do all the Call the Midwife tours in London and every single Outlander excursion in Scotland. Your Back-to-Backs, complete with truckles of cheese just got added to the list.
Of course, buying lottery tickets will have to happen first to pull that off. Anybody wanna buy some really antique Worcestershire sauce bottles?
I have stretched the shoulder, tread the mill, showered and shampooed, donned comfy clothing, and I’m having toast and diet coke as I surf.
I got an email reminder of the birthday of a guy I dated 50-some years ago. He tracked me down on line when I was still working in Jax, so more than 20 years back. It wasn’t a magical feat - my maiden name is quite rare in the US and since he was Navy, he knew how to get to me via my work at the time. It wasn’t stalkerish, tho I did connect via email rather than call him, just in case.
Anyway, we corresponded for a few years, then suddenly he ghosted me. I don’t know if he died or went off the grid or what. After a couple of attempts to connect with him, I gave up, but I didn’t delete the reminder. I’ll do that now. Interestingly, his email address includes a version of “Dave is alive” - OK, maybe he is. Anyway, just felt like I had to share that little tidbit.
FCD has just left for the convenience center. MIL is snoozing in her chair, waiting for the aide to come for her shower. I’ll haul the laundry downstairs once Jessica gets here. Yep, all flavors of excitement hereabouts.
Oh, I did get a phishing email and didn’t find it peculiar right away. But I’ve changed the appropriate passwords, so I’m good. I hope. Damned thieves!
Well, I just figured all you intelligent and well-bred folks already knew it and this poor plebeian just had to catch up… But here’s Wikipedia for the info: Truckle - Wikipedia
Shopping is complete for the day, so relaxing until it is swim time.
It’s 46F and mostly cloudy right now. Today’s high temperature will top out at around 56F, with rain showers for the afternoon.
I had a very restless night. I got up around 4:30 a.m. or so. I validated my timecard and was going to go downstairs, but my husband opted to get up because he had a stuffy nose. I decided I’d try to sleep some more, and the pups joined me, one on either side of me. I slept on and off until around 7:20 a.m. and then got up because it was past feeding time for the pups, and neither had stirred from their places beside me to go downstairs earlier.
Shoe, I loved the Cheetoh fingers story.
BooFae, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for 'im indoors.
I need to go to the vet to pick up special food for Maisie because MudBay didn’t have what I needed on Wednesday. Since I’ll be in the general area, I’ll go to Costco to pick up some stuff. My husband asked if I wanted him to go with me, and I told him that was a hard no. He would buy everything in the store if he could, and it becomes a costly trip when he does go.
I don’t have any other plans for the weekend. I need to weed-whack, edge, and mow the lawn, and it looks like tomorrow might be a good day to do that. I am hoping that the first freeze comes along so the lawn will stop growing.
Okay, time to get the last of the dishes in the dishwasher so I can run it. Take care!
Reasonable heaving, apart from the late Air, and the one package car load that got switched to a package car in Brown 112 at the very last minute(like as in 5 minutes before the driver was supposed to leave.
How did I not now that this is a thing(Not Our Thing. )?
Hello and happy Friday afternoon. I’m just sitting here waiting for my mom to get ready to go to the mall. We’re going to grab some pretzels and yummy stuff while we’re there.
Speaking of waiting, I’m also waiting for the knee doctor’s office to call me back about what I should do next. I’ve sent a friendly inquiry on MyChart as well. I am giving them until about 4. After that I’ll either be screaming into the phone or will have decided to move on to the doctor that is closer. I had thought about just jumping ahead to the new doctor, but I’d like to avoid replicating this whole process again.
I saw an ad for that. I’d try if, if I could get it. The Burger King here has a Spooky Crazy Cheese BBQ sandwhich and its possible to order a Halloween bucket with the Addams family on it. No Morticia shake. Guess I’ll have to suffer with the Nutella sundae.
Stocking up on fiber and TP in the same trip? That’s planning ahead.
One person? Lame. Two? Weird. A bunch of adults? Not lame at all - sounds like fun. And good business for the bar.
Tomorrow morning the house painter (or the supervisor, not sure) is coming to look at the windowsills at 9:00 am. I thought about cleaning them before then, but that didn’t happen. I do wonder how often people clean their windowsills, because I do it about once in a blue moon.
So now it’s time to vege in front of the tv and make sure we get to bed at a reasonable time so that we’re presentable so early on a Saturday morning.

There are foxes in my neighborhood and the other day someone reported seeing a coyote, and I’m wondering if there were critters near the house overnight: Bailey had three different bark-fests, 2-3 hours apart, for 30-60 minutes each time. The first time I hadn’t fallen asleep yet so I eventually got out of bed and petted her and she actually settled down, but that didn’t work again; the last two times, she just had to bark herself out. The worst part was that she’d quiet down for 5-10 minutes – just long enough for me to start falling back asleep – and then she’d bark some more. So today I’m a bit tired and headache-y and sinus-y, and feeling just “bleh” enough to cancel this afternoon’s voice lesson.
That said, I’m still planning to meet friends for dinner and live music this evening: it’ll be early-ish and close to home, plus one of my friends will be singing a few songs during the first set and I haven’t seen him perform in forever. It’ll be on a rooftop, so it might get a little chilly, but as long as it isn’t too breezy it should be a good night. I can always leave before the second set if I’m not feeling it.
Luckily, work has been on the manageable side so far today (). I just need to get through a few more hours. At around 4:30 I’ll log off and take care of the doggy, then change into “outside of the house” clothes and head out to meet my friends .
That sounds interesting!
Reasons are never needed to watch that movie.
Those last few innings were some wild baseball! Cleveland deserved the W. But I should have known there would be extra innings when I wrote “it’ll be good to have a game end while it’s still primetime”… I’ll miss most of game 4 tonight due to the aforementioned dinner and live music (I’ll be surreptitious when checking the score on my phone ), but I plan to watch game 5 tomorrow night.

I’ve dressed up for Halloween a few times, and once or twice I went with that Charlie Brown costume*: I always made sure that I carried a bag with just a big rock (or two) in it.
*I used a Sharpie to draw black circles on a white sheet vs cutting a bunch of holes, but I did cut eye holes: I went to a fabric store and got some sheer black fabric that I covered them with, so they still looked like black holes but I could see.
That’s similar to what I was going to suggest…cut arm holes in the biggest white garbage bag you can find, and voila: white trash!
This made me realize that I’ve never thought about other countries/citizens having security clearances! Totally makes sense, though. *sigh* Anyway, best of luck to 'im indoors!
Well, there will be at least four people: the two organizers, and my nephew and me. So, we’ll see.
I’ve been around several cats meeting a ferret for the 1st time. The interaction is pretty much this:
Ferret: Hello, stranger! You’re my NEW BEST FRIEND! Cat: You look like prey. You smell like {tentative sniff} yeah, not prey. { confused face } Ferret: BESTIES FOR LIFE!!1! Cat: I don’t know you. Ferret: I have no concept of personal space!1! Cat: What TF are you? Ferret: { hops around doing the “war dance” } Cat: …
Howdy Y’all! As predicted, been a day of high RDOS inactivity here at da cave. One minor change happened, however. Instead of majik intartoobz pizza and sallit, we had chili/cheese/onion/slaw dawgs and homemade fries for sup which we et early. Fartfest to follow. Shortly 'twill be Netflix, chill, popcorn, and pie time. Life lived on the edge at da cave!
Afternoon all. Swimming has been accomplished and mid-day calories consumed, and in about an hour I’ll leave to coach soccer, then return home for my Big Bowl O’Sallit for dinner. Up to 70F, but as soon as the sun starts going down it’ll cool off quickly, so I’ll have several layers of clothing with me.
Taters, hope the shopping went well. And my lawn has slowed down, but still will need mowage this weekend.
Sticky Buns, they will have called you by now if they know what’s good for them.
Your way ahead of me. I may have cleaned them last year…
Oopsie, you wonder if the wild things out there compare notes and say “hey you, fox3, it’s your night to drive the lady’s dog crazy.”
OK, need to do a little internettin’ then get ready for my soccer coaching. Take care all.
Unsolicited weather report incoming from Canada, aka “The Great White North”, aka “The Frozen Tundra” and many other terms with the word “frozen” in them.
If you’re feeling a little chilly I suggest you come to Canada, where we celebrate Global Warming nearly year-round. At this moment here In Ontario, all my windows are open for nice fresh air, even though it’s past mid-October. It’s predicted to warm further in the next few days, hitting highs of 23°C next week (that’s around 73°F 'Murrican).
This pup is still planning to pay off the snowplow guy, because this may be a La Nina winter with more snow than usual. Or not, but as I can no longer safely wield snow shovels I consider the snowplow guy to be a kind of life insurance.
Well, today is October 18, and October 18 is Persons Day in Canada. According to this, it celebrates the sudden realization, in 1929, that women were actually persons:
It marks the day in 1929 when the historic decision to include women in the legal definition of “persons” was handed down by Canada’s highest court of appeal. This gave some women the right to be appointed to the Senate of Canada and paved the way for women’s increased participation in public and political life.
