(Old) Tricks, treats, and a brand new month in the MMP

Back when I was an avionics tech, they told us not to let the smoke out of the boxes!

Howdy Y’all! My DAWGS did, indeed, win, but they tried to kill me while doin’ so. On the plus side, I was much nicer durin’ the game so I won’t need double secret confession tomorrow. WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!

CupCakes Ichabods is a cool name. Oh and Fighting Hotdogs, with a weiner dawg mascot, is a hoot! I wonder if they go around woofin’.

VanGo I like “fighting pickles.”

Boo and Hippie sorry the 'Huskers lost. Cat_Glove yay for your Spartans. Ummm… don’t know any better way to say all that.

ISTR doggio is a NC State Wolfpack aficianado. Don’t know about MetalMouse, but I would imagine Ohio State if’n he has a favorite.

I grew up callin’ Montgomery Ward Monkey Ward as well. Montgomery, Alabammy is also known as Monkey Town. shoe’s kitteh is named Monkey. Wonder if that’s short for Montgomery.

MOOOOOOM glad y’all got the water heater fix. Glad y’all are smart enough to know how. If’n that happened at da cave, we’d go check into a hotel. No hawt water is just uncivilized! Glad the BD celebration went well even if The Tobester completly ignored you for his PawPaw.

After my game was over I pulled up your Dawgs box score and checked it every couple of minutes in solidarity with you~it was dicey there for a bit. My sly internetz cheering was no doubt the deciding factor in their win.

That was just fine~we’re all friends here. I still feel bad for the Spartans after the drubbing Michigan dealt them. ‘Twern’t right.

Today was a day of sloth and adventure. It rained hard this morning, followed by a wind storm, so not only did I have to forgo any more yard work, but the trees threw all their pine cones at the pavement I cleared yesterday. The house was clean, and there was no laundry to do. Hence the sloth.

My son asked me to drive his car so it wasn’t sitting idle the whole time. That was the adventure. I drove around the block, my first time behind the wheel in a long time. I did OK, but parallel parking is not my thing. Their street is narrow, so all the cars are flush against the curb. I got within about a foot and counted it good. At least the car isn’t at an angle.

I love all these team names! Swampy, I do like the Fighting Camels but would think Spitting Camels would be more accurate, plus the other team might be reluctant to tackle critters who spit. My all-time favorite high school team name is the Belfry, Montana Bats.

VanGo, the Fighting Pickles is my new all-time favorite. I LOVE it! My daughter once bought me the best Mothers Day gift ever: a plastic pickle that yodeled, because pickles and yodeling go together like, like, like strawberries and escalators. I used to use it in my classroom to signal kids to quiet down after a group activity. At first they thought it was the funniest thing ever. Eventually, they’d just yell, “You guys, shut up! She’s got the pickle!”

Swampy, do you “WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!” during the game? If so, does OYKW throw things at you, or is he used to the insanity? As I recall, he’s not a football fan, right?

It really was! We should pay you to cheer for our teams…except the Packers. That’d be beneath your dignity. [Runs from doggio.]

flyboy, sorry that Covid has made itself at home. Hope you and the missus can evict it tomorrow.

I have hugged all my major appliance(even though I only own the washer and dryer). Roomie has managed to lose the Alex remote. Having a Vieux Carré and watching hockey.

mine is The Wolfpack. My favorite name for college teams is the baseball team from Long Beach State: The Dirtbags.

You were only an hour away from me.

Every machine is a smoke machine, if you opperate it badly enough.

: pummels nellie with Cheesehat :

Evening all. Well, home early because my U12 soccer team lost their first game of the season 0-1 and that knocked us out of the tournament. Still, a 10-1-1 record for the season ain’t too bad. Got half a dozen of the boys to shave my beard off tonight, they did a real good job on it and now my chin feels naked. Didn’t have a chance to eat since breakfast (and only some water to drink), so am devouring a large helping of Lean Cuisine Fettuchini to assuage my hunger.

Wanted to bring my cellphone with me, but couldn’t find it anywhere. I was afraid I had left it at one of the soccer fields, but nobody had turned one in, so I was befuddled…until I started cleaning off the top of my stove, the dark screen and case matched almost perfectly with the glass-top stove and that had caused it to ‘disappear’ It is now where I can easily find it.

So tomorrow I might sign up to referee some more, we’ll see how I’m feeling then.

Taters, whatever your choice in new canine companionship, I’m sure you will make them and yourself very happy. And my cupboards do go to the ceiling (hmmm…runs and checks them, yep, they do)

wet one, hope the pain lessens soon. Hope the MRI shows something that will help.

swampy, I’ve heard of the Fighting Camels of Campbell, also the Campbells 66 trucking company always had a running camel on the side of it’s trailers that said :“Humping to Please” https://images.fineartamerica.com/images-medium-large-5/humpin-to-please-angus-hooper-iii.jpg As for the fighting part…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QM5hXrV_4ek

BBBoo, hope the tests remain negative and Nebraska stays positive.

FCM, glad you had a good lunch and solved the water heater problems without it blowing a hole in either your finances or your roof.

Mine neighborhood too, likewise I don’t know why. Guess it just sounds funny. NOTE: Flyboy apparently has come up with the answer.

BBBoo, living where I do you’d think I’d root for Alabama or Auburn, but my heart still belongs to The Ohio State University. Truth be told, don’t think I’ve watched a full quarter of college football this year, what with youth soccer taking up most of my Saturdays.

OK, warming up again, the space heater + closed door makes the office space toasty, which is nice. Will try to finish the evening internetting and we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Howdy Y’all! I changed all the clocks in da cave that need to be changed manually. Now there are like two time zones in da cave. One says it’s gettin’ close to bedtime. The other says not yet.

Boo no doubt in my mind your cheerin’ was the thing that put the Dawgs on top. Mizzery is surprisingly good (for them) this year. If they win out the season they might even get a top six bowl game. Hope the 'Huskers make bowl game status.

Nellie I do indeed WOOF! throughout the game and at other random times. OYKW likes to lie on the bed and watch teevee so he does that whilst I watch the game in the livin’ room. He’ll walk in and say he’s just checkin’ to see if he needs to call 911. I am lucky he puts up with that. Then again, I put up with that cop show he watches incessantly, so I guess it all works out. Law And Order I think it’s called. Yay for the successful drive around the block!

That would be nice. But I think that would qualify as a ‘miracle’.

Happy Saturday!

It was a cool 39 degrees at the park this morning. Nobody was there but us and Lucy/Petey Dad.
It was nice and quiet and gave us a chance to catch up.

After we left the park, we went to the old house to catch up with Richard. He has gotten so much done. He had to go on the porch roof to fix something and I asked him to do that when we were there. I don’t want him to fall off and lay there by himself because nobody sees him.

My son’s father fell of a roof and died. I’m not sure if he had a heart attack first and fell off the roof, or fell off the roof and then had the heart attack. He was by himself and his roofing partner found him hanging dead in the harness.
I think getting on a roof by yourself is like swimming by yourself or going on a trail ride by yourself. People do it all the time, and everything is good until it isn’t.

I wanted to come home and get some stuff done. Once I ate breakfast, I fell asleep for 3 hours. I’m not surprised since I only got 5 hours sleep last night. Then I got up and took a shower, using my new shower chair, which made a world of difference in comfort. I ate a little lunch and took another nap, waking up just in time to log in to irk.
So basically, nothing got done today.

Tomorrow, we have to clean up the yard and get everything out for the trash. Then on Monday, we have to do a dump run. My son goes back to irk Tuesday and Richard leaves on Friday. Monday is the only day we can do it.

I hope my son’s job calls and asks him if he wants to take another week,

I know you’re right FCM. I need to chill and just let expectations go.
Certainly glad there was no fire with the water heater.

We also shopped at Monkey Wards.
And Kresges and Murphys

I think you should get the dishwasher you want Taters.
Sometimes you should get what you want, not just downgrade to what you need.
I also hate cabinets that don’t go to the top. A friend told me to put newspapers on top of them, but who has newspapers anymore?
Pearl is a cutie.

Congrats, MetalMouse

I’m going to try to get to bed a bit earlier tonight.

You can get plain newsprint from places like U-Haul that sell packing materials. We use it to line Misty’s cage.

To curious onlookers that would be NC State, who are at the moment winning over the ‘Canes. I’m quite happy to root for the little guy, so Go! Wolfpack! :wolf::football::wolf::football::wolf:

And to confuse matters, N.C. State is playing the Miami Hurricanes, and the Carolina Hurricanes are playing the New York Islanders(Canes won in OT), so I am pulling for, and against The Hurricanes tonight.

Given those choices, I’d be hard pressed to decide which to watch~who had the better snacks might be the deciding factor. I’d put my money on swampbear in the treats dept.

Besides, Law and Oder is on eternal, perpetual, unending repeat. Three different versions, for over twenty years. I could catch up after the game and not miss anything. SVU is my favorite iteration of L &O, but NCIS is my current rerun of choice.

I’m gonna need a crib sheet to keep track of which ‘Canes to cheer for and against when.

At least there are only one set of Cornhuskers, hapless as they often are. A hundred years ago they called themselves the Bugeaters.

Hehehe! That’s funny.

To complicate things, there is a Carolina Panthers(NFL) and a Florida Panthers(NHL). Which even confused ESPN, because they listed a Carolina/Florida hockey game at the NFL stadium. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:
Cliff Notes:
N.C. team=good
Florida team=bad

Canes win!
Canes lose!
All is well!

And the good Canes have won, 20-6.

Just got home. Forgot - again - about the time change so was extremely confused when I got home and saw that it was . . a few minutes after we closed?
.. the hell?
Ohhhhhhhhhh.

Hell, this day last year I rather infamously wandered into work at opening time and declared, in all seriousness, that I had no idea what time it was, barely knew what day it was, none of which mattered b.c. I had no idea what time - or even if - I was supposed to be there anyway.

It’s actually short for “Monkeyshines.”

That is one beautiful white wolf.

Whoop it up, I guess!

Oh, no kidding. That’s how the game works?

Also known as a “whore’s bath,” which always amuses me.

Man, they really missed an opportunity there, didn’t they?

This made me smile.

Peer pressure at its best!

This absolutely cracked me up.

Man, I just do not understand sports.

Which is what my sweetie said…

Up ar 6:30 which is really 5:30 but whatever time it is, I got about 8 hours sleep!! I had a lovely hot shower last night and I’m ready to attack the dryer today. Because it’s always something.

Happy Sunday!
