Just hung up on my oldest friend (we met when we were four). First he was drunk. Second, he’s a Trump cultist. Third, he says he’s been a ‘Sovereign’ since 1993. He got upset when I ‘implied’ he’s a fascist. I was like, ‘Whatever,’ and hung up.
Indeed it is! I hope I can remember it long enough to use it.
Will Ms Peach lose her mind over the noise?
Should be ok, it’s a detached garage.
I must to bed, as I need to visit the electrical store before getting in to the museum and opening before the all important staff meeting which happens when I ought to be doing things like getting the place ready for opening. (Can you tell I find this meeting worthless?)
Look at me, twice in one day! I just finished trying to put the new tube the A-PAP company sent me–Not sure why–into the machine. Suffice it to say, there aren’t enough punctuation symbols to stand for all the cussing. I finally figured out they sent me the wrong tube, so I reconnected the old, perfectly usable one. The photo on the package shows a guy wearing the mask while cuddled up reading in bed with a deliriously happy woman. What an idiot. You don’t wear the mask when you’re not sleeping.
Taters, speaking of Nisqually, I’m sure you’ve been to the wildlife refuge many times. I have, but don’t you find it ironic that part of it is closed for waterfowl hunting season from October to January? I guess they did it to appease the hunters, but it still seems to me like, “Hey ducks! C’mon over here where you’ll be safe and–” BLAMMO. You probably have a more knowledgeable take, though.
Ask away, we’re here to fight ignorance here(it is taking long than we thought)
I’m sure I’m one reason it’s taking so long. I still don’t understand binary code. Anyway:
So there’s a whole separate crew of indoor loading people? Do you and those people ever encounter each other? (I’m imagining the Morlocks and the Eloi.) Do the drivers help load, or do they just drive?
I know the UPS vans aren’t air conditioned. (The company name must stand for Ungodly Perspiration Syndrome.) What happens to parcels that must be kept refrigerated?
In between crises, does your job ever get tedious? What do you think about to pass the time?
nellie would be jealous.
I’m green with envy! I do, however, enjoy reading about your experience.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. Canes blew a 2-0 lead and lost 5-4 in the last minute. It’s currently a chilly 51 degrees Ferret Height(10.556 Centipedes)
Spot was having Screaming Tuxedo Zoomies tonight, so I cleaned his litterbox. He felt compelled to defile it, and while he was distracted, I made my bed without interference.
So there’s a whole separate crew of indoor loading people? Do you and those people ever encounter each other? (I’m imagining the Morlocks and the Eloi.) Do the drivers help load, or do they just drive?
Yeah. I’m on the preload shift, we unlad the trailers of stuff being delivered that that, label it to go to the right package car and shelf, and load it on the package cars. Most days we’re finishing loading when the driver get there so they see us. Mostly the driver only finish loading when we’re short staffed, or a Next Day Air load is really late. But a few of the driver come in early, because they want to reload the car they way they want, not the way the company wants.
In between crises, does your job ever get tedious? What do you think about to pass the time?
There’s always something to do, so there’s not much tedium. After work cocktails and naptime. ![]()
What happens to parcels that must be kept refrigerated?
Things like meds and seafood get sent Next Day Air in insulated boxes with Dry Ice, and things like meal kits and Ollie’s dog food will last 2-3 days in the system in summer. Anything that doesn’t get delivered that day ends up getting damaged out and returned(meds) or heaved into the dumpster(food, formerly live fish)
keep my hair very short.
Should make it cheaper.

That’s rough, dude, that’s a lot to deal with in one sitting. I can handle drunk, but the rest of it is “oooof” yeah, nope for me.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79, sunny late mornin’ to mid afternoon, then partly to mostly cloudy the rest of the day.The high temp is decidedly “cooler” for this time of year. However, the humidity persists. We shall procure provisions and get back to da cave to store 'em. Then we shall pick up my ‘scripts, deal with a couple of errands, and have Mexican comestibles for today’s main need to feed. This leaves the afternoon for nappage, day drinkin’ and general RDOS sloth. This will get done today!
Nellie so sorry your son is on prednisone. I have taken a course of it one time and hope to never again. It did clear up the problem, but dang those side effects!
JtC I am sorry the surgery will mess up your stitchin’ class. Does this mean you can’t stitch because of stitches? OK, I’ll go sit in the corner and feel shame now.
FlyBoy bein’ a Trumper is bad enough, but to add in “Soverign” to the mix is a level of crazy I could not deal with. You have the patience of a saint and the tolerance of Jesus to remain friends with him.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. I endure so much for my public!
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
The day here is starting at 53 Ferrets (at least my portion of the day is.) Biggies on the agenda include my neurologist appt at 1030, followed by a major pantry and fridge re-stock. I also have to get FCD’s meds at CVS, and I’d like to finish raking the other section of ditch today. I’d thought to do the ditch first thing. but that would mean getting dressed and getting out there within the next hour. I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen.
I slept well after another snort of nyquil, but the cough continues, tho it seems to be abating somewhat. I should wear a mask to protect the Dr and the others at the office. I used to have some in my car, but I’m not sure now, but there is a box of 'em in a cabinet, so I need to grab a couple.
Meatloaf for supper - I pulled one out of the freezer yesterday and it’s been in the fridge overnight. I doubt that it’s thawed, but at least it’s had a head start. Dunno what sides yet - I may work that out as I shop today. Beyond that, we’ll see what the day brings.
Happy Wednesday!!
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 13c/56f with a predicted high of 19c/65f and cloudy. Weather app says “Your moves are fucking weak, sun. You need to fucking do better than this.”
Spike got the Amazon job.
Yay for Spike but boo to shift work. I hope he doesn’t find the travel too difficult if the traffic is always bad on his intended route.
Cookie a day with no reason to go outside sounds good to me! I look forward to those, mine is usually Tuesday when I’m working at home and have no reason to leave the house apart from fetching the biiiig bin in from the kerb.
It was a tad unnerving since it was almost exactly 2 years ago that I had my seizure while raking the very same ditch.
I hope the mowing goes well and you can get over the memory of what happened last time. I am sure you will be fine!
Now you just have Troublesom Minion to deal with. [Ominous]Till next semester[/Ominous]
I saw the Wellbeing guy today and he said she’d already put in an appeal because apparently the room was too hot. Unfortunately that won’t go very far because she has specific room requirements and that was the only room available in our building. Troublesome Minion, well she’s in a snit about something, still don’t know what.
Indeed it is! I hope I can remember it long enough to use it.
You and shoe are easily pleased!
Yesterday was a good day as the Exceptionally Difficult Student turned up and did her exam (although she plans on a complaint about the room) so that’s all over. I got the rest of the papers from the main venues and processed them, now I am waiting for three more to arrive from a different venue.
I left on time, and was not bothered about delays on the way home as I knew I needed to wait for a while at our home station to meet 'im indoors. He was on a train coming back from Glasgow and we shared a cab home. Got in, did my chores, fed the cats, cleaned litter trays and warmed up leftover chilli for dinner.
Today I’ve got two meetings that should not generate much work for me, and there’s a conference going on in the building so there are quite a few lost people wandering around! Off to the pub tonight, it’s a friend’s birthday so we’re out to celebrate. I’m hoping it’s not too late a night out as I am back on campus tomorrow.
get over the memory of what happened last time.
The memory really isn’t a problem - it’s not like it haunts me. What is unnerving, tho, is that no one knows what triggered it or if it might happen again. I’d hate to be driving the grands someplace and suddenly lose some hours, or even minutes. Which makes me think I need to show Roxy and Tobias how to use my phone, just in case…
Still in my robe, not at all motivated to rake. I’m thinking I’ll empty the dishwasher, then accomplish some rollsuckage.
Good morning all. Up at 6am, have pilled and am awaiting the time before I can take nourishment post-pillage. Another fairly inactive day, may go to the Mart of Wal for a couple of things, but nothing major. 66F outside heading to 82F later, and no rain expected in the next 36 hours.
Bright Tree, bananas in cookies…sounds interesting.
nellie, best wishes for Son and your eye.
JtC, sorry about the needlepoint being a stitch too far this year, hopefully you’ll be good to go the next time it rolls in.
Flyboy, that’s the reason I never discuss politics with my brother, he’s very fundamentalist and conservative and while not sovereign, he’s probably supportive of that. To keep it family, I never bring up the hot-button subjects.
VanGo, hope you survived the staff meeting with your faculties intact.
nellie, I am awaiting some water filters from GE, the last batch were the wrong ones, hopefully they got it right this time.
doggio, thanks for your explanations to nellie, I am now only 75% confused by your reports…

FCM, hope all the errands and yard stuff goes according to plan (whose plan is left for the future to tell). I think I still have a box if masks, whether I could find them again is problematic…
And have broken fast and will now rely on my will-power to keep from snacking until lunch-time. Have a good Hump Day all (had to check, still feels like a Tuesday…).
Taters, good luck on your rock garden. Add a few old copiers, and you’ll have a xeriscape.
The Pumpkinseed Cyclery came yesterday, and they picked up my recumbent trike. They called later to say it would be about $150 to do a general tune-up and flat fix. I “used-to-do-that,” but now there are limits to how long I can spend hunched over and dealing with little parts.
Happy Wodin’s Day.
Good morning, all! It was 54ºF this morning, so warm leggings and jackets were worn.
I’d forgotten my headband to yoga last night, so I was miserable from the sweat on my face. Val, who usually runs the nice, stretchy class on Tuesday nights, complete with foot messages ran the power class, too. You might think that since it’s Val, it’ll be a nice, easy power class. No. She’s a fucking monster. I have no idea how she did it, but I burnt over four hundred calories in an hour.
Errands are tonight. I need to pick up my new glasses from Costco. I have a slight prescription (plus the add) in my left eye, and only the progressive add in my right, which will make going from reading to distance easier in the evening when I’ve taken out my contact.
I tried but we don’t have any thin, cheap notebook paper or crayons. All I got was the oval and round shapes. It would be fun to know more, but I think TC friend will have fun finding out the rest of the provenance herself.
Well nuts - Let us know what your friend finds.
I’m showered and dressed for venturing forth. I’ve tended to cat chores, emptied the dishwasher, and completed a comprehensive rollsuck, short of moving big furniture. So I have 30-ish minutes to kill.
Last night I made a grocery list - big shop ahead. So apart from grabbing a mask, I’m good to go erranding.
Good morning.
It’s 61F and partly cloudy at the moment. The forecast calls for partly to mostly cloudy skies, a very slight chance of a rain shower late morning, and a daytime high of 67F.
Nellie, I actually did not know that hunting was allowed in the refuge. I have been there, and it’s quite a lot of walking, especially if you go all the way out to the end of the boardwalk and walk the entire interior. I looked up this year’s hunting brochure and see that it is allowed on the south side of the delta (below all those expensive homes) and where the river meets the Sound. Frankly, I don’t know why anyone would want to eat those ducks, since they taste fishy because of their diet. I know this from experience. In the early 70s, that area was not a refuge. My dad hunted ducks there, and we ate them. They were awful. It makes me sad that hunting is allowed there; there are plenty of other places to hunt for wildfowl.
Also, @nelliebly, I hope the docs can figure out what is going on with your son.
Johnny, I don’t blame you for hanging up. I most certainly would have done the same.
Boofae, you would think that Special Student would be glad this exam and possibly schooling was over, and just move on. Sounds like she thinks she did poorly and is going to use the room as an excuse.
FCM, I hope all your errands go to plan.
Yesterday did not go as planned for me. My husband was insistent that we go to Black Bear to eat because he wanted chicken-fried steak and country gravy. I am not a fan of that place. The one near me almost always has bad service, and their food is just not that impressive (to me).
Sure enough, it took forever to even get a waiter to our table so we could order. I ordered a BLTA and fries, and my husband got his chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, and a salad. I forgot what his other side was. Anyway, the waiter brought our drinks, but no straws, and when we finished eating, he wanted to give us refills on our drinks (strawberry lemonade), which should have been offered before we were done. We are disappointed every time we go, yet my husband insists on going. I tried to steer him to a different place, but he can be muleishly stubborn. ![]()
Before we went to eat, we picked up the dogs’ prescriptions at Costco, then drove to lunch. After, we went to PetSmart to pick up doggy ice cream.
I wanted to knock out everything in the morning, but he insisted on leaving later, so by the time we returned, it was pretty dang hot and a little humid outside. I had no desire to get out and work in that.
Today he wants to ride the Foothills Trail, so I guess we’ll do that. Tomorrow, we have his appointment with the optometrist. And, I still need to get out and visit my mother, too.
Okay, time to get on with the day. Please take care of yourselves.
I guess they did it to appease the hunters,
Keep in mind that wildlife management also has the responsibility of reducing overpopulation of the critters in their care. Whatever you think of hunting, done consertvely, it’s more humane than starvation and disease.
Spike got the Amazon job
May the spirit of ruble be with him.
Up, caffeinating, doggos pottied / fed and fixing to do KP. I’ll toss a load of laundry in while I shevel. Such excitement!
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
I hate to keep repeating myself, but the AC was out again yesterday and last night. Tried to get an update on repairs this morning, but everyone is hiding out.
I embarked on what I hope will be a healthier diet last evening. I had a (gasp!) salad for dinner and will be picking up more salad makings today. V&O dressing only. Also cutting way back on sugar and dairy, although I don’t ingest much of the latter, as both of those cause me intestinal distress. That means no ice cream cravings.
So I started out on the 100 Slide. Then they sent me to the 200 sort Table because there were only 3 people, 2 of them Blueberries, and they were on the heavy side of the table. Then one of the blueberries bonked himself in the nose with a box, and had to go deal with that. And his abcesnce didn’t hurt the table at at. When he stopped bleeding and came back, I got sent to the 100 sort Table, since that was slammed. When that wnet down, I was helping the new guy load 100 Middle Blue, and run the irregs. Then it was bouncing between helping the Senior Clerk with damages, and helping Hazmat with re wraps. Then I went home, only to get caught in morning Canadian cobra chicken parade.
doggio, thanks for your explanations to nellie, I am now only 75% confused by your reports…

Then you understand things better than half my supervisors.
I’d forgotten my headband to yoga last night,
I read that as headbang \m/–\m/
doggos pottied / fed

Have you considered burning some of management at the stake, pour encourager les autres ![]()
Have had my soup-n-sammich for lunch and will shortly dress appropriately for Wal-Mart and do a little shopping pre-gym. Even mopped the kitchen and signed up to referee two soccer games on Saturday to get ready for the big regional tournament in a couple of weeks.
Mollie, your comments on Val the trainer made me think of this item from “Car Talk” a NPR show I used to listen too every Saturday Morning (it’s reading, not performing, but still funny…) As Read: The Exercise Diary | Car Talk
Taters, lots of Black Bear eating places in the USA, sorry that the service was so bad at that one.
Cookie, don’t let them off the hook on the AC. And I’m trying to eat healthier (or at least less often).
doggio, baby gosling walk!
And time to don clothing to be seen in, and do my afternoon schedule. Catch y’all later.
