Joyous Solstice to all! I haven’t had internet for a month, so I just now read the last several MMPs. FCM and family, my condolences on your loss, and you gave MIL a much better end of life than she’d have had under other circumstances.
I’ve read everyone’s health news with good wishes in my heart.
Similarly, cars, jobs, pets.
Nellie, have you considered Oregon? There’s no sales tax, and although there is an income tax, for a retiree, it might not hit as hard. There are communities that cost a lot less while still having reasonable public transportation and medical access. For example, though Eugene is rather expensive, Springfield, just across the river, is much less so and is closer to the big Riverbend PeaceHealth hospital. There’s a regional airport in Eugene, and both Amtrak and bus service to other communities and bigger cities. Just a thought.
We have one 12-pack of TP in the garage and probably 24 rolls in the bathrooms.
I use Booking for almost all of my travel accommodations (which can include up to 40 separate nights just for a Camino walk) and haven’t had any problems on the Booking end of things.
I’m driving a 2008 Nissan Versa that’s only required the expected repairs and replacements.
We’ve visited 6 continents in 6 months* using up expiring vouchers or grabbing replacement fares for travel cancelled or delayed during the first 2 COVID years. Now we’re looking forward to Christmas at home and no travel for a good long time.
