(Old) Tying up loose ends in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! As foretold today has been a day of high RDOS inactivities. Teevee, playin’ games on the tablet, nappage and day drinkin’ with a couple of breaks to make and eat sammiches. My kind of day!

CupCakes hope Atilla is feelin’ better soonest.

red yay for heat!

JtC so the haint is leavin’ spoons now? Guess that’s better than dirt. :ghost::spoon:

At least it was a nice little easy to sweep up dirt pile instead of dirt all over the room. I guess if we have to live in a haunted house, it’s best that our haint isn’t messy. I think I am going to start drinking that expensive gin that comes in blue bottles so I can make a haint tree. I don’t mind Donna, she is quiet but I don’t want her bringing her friends over in the middle of the night.

Just finished another lap blanket. I’m getting down to colors that may or may not work together, but I don’t want to buy any more yarn, so I’ll work something out. I hope.

Daughter et al will be here around 7 or so tomorrow. The only 2 things I’m figuring on for certain is lighting a fire downstairs and making mac-n-cheese for lunch. Everything else will happen as it happens. And since SIL has to be at work around 1 or so, they should be back here around noon or shortly thereafter. So mac-n-cheese may not happen after all. We shall see.

For now, I’s tahred so I shall mosey back and crawl under the covers.

Ok, this made me laugh out loud and I’m still smiling and my eyes are twinkling~thanks, I so needed it!

Up from naptime, watching hockey and having salmon with rice, peas, and 'shrooms. Tonight’s pina colada was as close as I’ll get to a white Chrstmas.

He started it! :stuck_out_tongue:

{{{{Baker and Atila}}}}

You’re being spooned by a ghost?

Evening all. Swam late this afternoon, then helped set up the gym for indoor soccer tomorrow, then still felt ambitious so pedaled and walked at the gym for about an hour. Somewhere in there I had bacon on rye and just finished my Big Bowl O’Salad so doing alright. Soccer starts at 8am tomorrow so will be in bed fairly early.

Oopsie, glad all the Xmas stuff is done; still waiting on one item that is due here on Sunday.

Looks like the Govt. shutdown has been avoided at least for a little while.

FCM, I cannot allow boxes of chocolate in the house (among other things) since I have absolutely no resistance to it. Good luck.

No, but I do have 2 cartons in the regular refrigerator. Mis-estimated how many frozen things I needed so some shuffling was required.

JtC, I laughed out loud at the feline cowboy and the bucking shaker. And your story of floozlying with the muscle-bound had me grinning. And the spoon is a mystery; now if you find a matching fork and/or knife… :scream:

red, glad the heat is on.

OK, about an hour on the You Tube and then off to bed. Catch y’all sometime on Sattiday.

Thanks for all the goodwill to Atilla. I think he is a little better, he is awake and grooming himself. Still walking a bit creaky but at least he got up.

Just read Letters from the Underground, which were letters between Abbie and Anita Hoffman.
Married, in love, and a 1 year old child and they were forced to separate because he had to go into hiding.
Made me so sad.
Why don’t I have anyone, though Abbie would be a bit much for me.
My only happiness is getting the new People magazine.
Dinner was parmesan chicken made by the grocery store and couscous.
Time for bed.

Aw, crap, is that a thing I’m supposed to do?

… meh, not happening.

There’s IIRC wine in blue bottles, would that be acceptable?

But are you into yoga?

… how do you feel about getting caught out there in that damn rain?
With or without champagne?

This was great. I love your floozy stories.

… wait, I’m supposed to dust ceiling fans, now? Jeebuseverlovinfuckingchristonagoddamncracker.
I am never gonna get caught up on this “adult life” bullshit.

Oh, wait.

No ceiling fans here. HEH!!

Hell, I can reach up and kiss the sky touch the ceiling without so much as stretching hard, let alone getting up on my tippy-toes.

A ceiling fan would either decapitate me, or ensure I never, ever, hafta get a haircut ever again.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to have. It’s my Firday.

Well, at a bar called O’Malley’s we can plan our escape

I do.

Bit of a drive, for me.

What??? Those don’t sound like thumbprint cookies to me. At least not here in the Mitten nor by Betty Crocker. Mom, my Aunt, and my daughter and me all fill the thumbprint indentations with jelly or preserves. We use raspberry preserves. Here’s what Betty Crocker says about Thumbprint Cookies: “Nut-rich . . . the thumb dents filled with sparkling jelly”. At the end of the recipe it says: “Place in thumbprints a bit of chopped candied fruit, sparkling jelly, or tinted confectioner’s sugar icing.”. Additionally, thumbprints don’t have oatmeal in them. At least not in the Mitten nor in Betty Crocker’s Picture Cook Book. So, PA has their own unique version.

Boy, you really do have a way with words.

I don’t remember what model year my Dad’s Ford Galaxie was, perhaps somewhere between '62 and '64. Dad’s name for it was Midnight.

Thanks to each of you who commented on Hubs’ good report on his recent testing (Cat scan, Echocargiogram, Pulmonary Function test). I very much appreciate it! I am so thankful that he didn’t have GvHD in his lungs like the heart Dr thought might be the case. The Pulmonologist said his ‘Out of Breath’ situation is likely due to 1. Anemia-low hemoglobin 2. fluid overload 3. conditioning.

Herald I’m so sorry to hear about your wife’s fall. I know that TBI’s are very serious and I come by that knowledge honestly. My Dad, at 88 and 11 months was jogging to keep up his conditioning as he had a softball game the next day. He tripped and fell and his head hit the cement street pavement. He was in the hospital for 7-1/2 weeks and did not come home. He was going to go into hospice 2 days later.
Will remember your wife in my prayers.

What a day! Looking forward to when I can engage in RDOS activities but that won’t likely be until the new year.

After very quickly sheveling and have a bit to eat, Hubs and I went to Kroger. They didn’t have a number of things on the grocery list but even so, our purchase earned us another 424 fuel points for a total to date of 1,437 fuel points for December.
Hubs was wiped out when we got home so I put everything away then had 20 minutes before I had to leave to take my BF to her eye Dr appointment so I made a quick turkey, muenster on 1 piece of toast topped by lettuce.

Nice drive out to BF’s eye doc 35 miles away. Gave us a chance to have a nice convo. While she was in getting her eyes dilated, I took a nap on the wonderful couch in the waiting area. Haha. Then we went to a Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea since we didn’t think my sister would be home at least for an hour. We had to stop at her house to pick up my parents’ snowblower for our Daughter. I ordered a hot Chai Latte-so good! I had never heard of Sweetwaters; I’m going to have to look into if there is one closer to home.

Just after we had ordered, paid and were standing waiting for our order to be filled, my sister called and said her Bingo finished early and she would be home soon. So, as soon as we got our order, we got back in car and headed to her house. My sister and BIL lifted the snowblower in the back of BF’s car (a Lexus-I didn’t think the snowblower would have fit in my Fusion). Drove to my house, lifted the snowblower out and put behind house so not visible from street. Hubs was taking a nap so I left him a note. Headed to BF’s house to get my car. She also gave me 2 dozen eggs. Her hens, which were new early this year, are still laying like champs, although they are quite small eggs.

Once home started doing dishes and checked with Daughter to ensure the plan was still that she and her friend were coming to pick up the snowblower tonight and having dinner with us. Hubs finally got up from nap an hour later and I drafted him as a Sous Chef to help prepare dinner. He chopped most of the veggies for salads and also the onions and green bell pepper to saute. We had bucatini with chunky veggie spag sauce and pork and angus beef meatballs, salads and broccoli. Oh, Hubs also grated the parm cheese.

Unfortunately it was totally dark when Hubs got up from nap so he didn’t have a chance to check out the snowblower. He asked me a bunch of questions about it and I didn’t have any answers as my sister and BIL offered no information about it. So, we told Daughter that he would check it out tomorrow and she could pick it up on Sunday after mass and brunch. He’s thinking it might need new spark plugs and stabilizer along with some gas. Not in my skill set so he’ll have to do his thing with it.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 34 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 53 and N.O.S. I shall make a batch of chawklit chip/pee-kahn cookies this mornin’. This will be the sum total of holiday bakin’ effort on my part. Outside of that RDOS inactivities and kolledge football playoff watchin’ shall fill up the rest of the day. Notre Dame won last night and will play my DAWGS in the Sugar Bowl in N’awlins on January first. Sup will be majik intartoobz pizza and sallit.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy and Y’all!

Ooops, I read but didn’t post - duh! The grandscare here and we’re chilling in the basement. Watching Moana. By the fire.

And so it goes. Happy Saturday!

Debating with myself about going to the shop to do some more clearing, but I really donwanna.

Funny!!

Go Irish! (Growing up Catholic in northern Indiana, I had no choice of whether to root for ND. If you confessed that you had rooted for the other team, no amount of penance could keep you from heading to hell. :stuck_out_tongue: )

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ll make some spiced nuts later and then head an hour and change up the road for SIL’s holiday tea.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Tied up a number of loose ends this week: completed addressing and mailing Christmas cards, mailed Christmas packages, accompanied Hubs and BF to 5 medical appointments this week and no more until Jan 3, God willing and the creek don’t rise.

So, need to work hard at tieing up the loose ends of making Christmas cookies and wrapping presents.

Besides working on these tasks, I’ll be washing dishes, watching my Spartans play Florida Atlantic (bball), folding up laundry, and hopefully working out on the NuStep.

Enjoy your Saturday!

Happy Solstice, Everybody!

Sunrise this morning will be at 08:03.

Sunset will be at 16:16.

My first Jeep and I rather badly underestimated the depth of a mud puddle that we tried to cross.  It was on a not-quite-a-road that we’d been over at least a dozen times, when it was dry, and we thought we knew that not-quite-a-road well enough to have some sense of how deep any puddles might be.  We were mistaken.

We still probably would have been fine, if the tow truck guys didn’t waste so much time screwing around, trying to figure out how to milk this for the highest price they could get for pulling us out.  This is about the official fording depth for this vehicle, but parts of it that are OK with a brief dip are not necessarily OK with being left submerged for several hours.

By the time the towing cretins got it out, enough water had seeped into enough places, that USAA declared it a total loss.

The insurance money came in a few days ago, whereupon @Seanette and I promptly went to buy the candidate that we had lined up as a successor to the first Jeep.

This one’s a few years older (2017 vs. 2020), and has more miles on it (about 95K vs. 55K.)  We got a good warranty with it, which makes me much more comfortable buying a vehicle with this many more years and miles.

And we just figured out, yesterday that it’s lifted, a modification that probably makes it both more valuable and more capable.  I don’t think the dealership that sold it to us realized this, otherwise they would have priced it higher.

Also, has better, bigger tires than stock. All-terrain, mud&snow tires, 3PMSF rated.

It’s possible that this one wouldn’t have got stuck where its predecessor did.

Good morning, everyone.

It’s 45F and cloudy outside, although the next set of rain showers should start within another 15 minutes or so. It’s pretty much supposed to rain off and on all day, and the expected high temperature is 53F.

The furnace guy came and went, tried to upsell me on some things like a surge suppressor for the furnace, a 1500 dollar (before tax) duct cleaning job, an electrostatic furnace filter, and, of course, their handy-dandy monthly payment plan,n which costs more than a yearly service, but saves me 15% on parts for repairs and cuts the cost of a diagnostic by around 75 or 100 bucks. He didn’t even have the correct filter size for my furnace and had to cobble something together. I bought a couple of four-inch filters and replaced the cobbled-together one-inch filter with one of those. I’m just not impressed with this company. I had read good reviews when I used them to replace my furnace, and I know he’s probably expected to do the upsell job, but I hate that shit. I’ll continue to use them to service the filter (sans the stupid payment plan), to maintain the warranty on my furnace.

My husband went to the grocery store yesterday. I told him to take it easy and get us enough groceries until Christmas because we’ll have a huge roast and prime rib soup for days after that. He still spent a lot of money. Oh well.

And yes, Congress passed a bill, just waiting on the President to sign. Still, it was close because the TPTB sent out a notice telling me I was EXCEPTED and required to work during a shutdown because I manage employee health and safety, along with real property. Not unexpected. Just part of the job.

I need to get to the store today to get the last of the gifts for my son and husband. Since I wasn’t sure when the furnace would get here, I had to wait for him, and I didn’t want to be running around in all that mess in the late afternoon with all the traffic.

In the meantime, I did some tidying and put up a few more decorations. I replaced the pet door flap, and scrubbed all around the that too.

VanGo, sending hugs just because.

And yes, today is the shortest day of the year. You know, I actually like the shorter days, so I’m a wee bit sad to see the longer days beginning.

I cracked up at the crazy cat story, Jtc.

Baker, I’m glad Atilla is doing better. It’s always worrisome when our pets are so senior in age. You don’t know if they have an off day or if this requires serious attention. I often struggled with that for my sweet Polar, whom I still miss daily.

Okay, I need to get the day started. I had a rough night. I did not get much sleep, and when I did, I had disturbing dreams. I don’t remember them; I just woke feeling anxious, frustrated, and annoyed each time.

Wishing you all a peaceful day.
