(Old) Tying up loose ends in the MMP

Well, tomorrow is Christmas Adam (the literalists remind us that Adam arrives before Eve.) It will also be Monday morning. I’m still taking big fat Moxies for my ear. It doesn’t hurt, but I still can’t hear out of it.
Mrs. Nott’s been in a frenzy of Christmas decorating. She says she’s done. We’ll see.

Well, that didn’t work out.
The bus pass they got me was for going to Cleveland only.
I hope they can get their money back.

Good early evening all. Red Robin was good, but overpriced IMHO (Monster Burger w/fries and a large Coors Light with a 24% tip cost me $35, which is as much or more than what I pay for a Steak dinner at Texas Roadhouse or Longhorn). It was good, but don’t think I’ll be hurrying back there. Then browsed in Barnes and Noble, it was very crowded and hectic and the selections didn’t seem to be all that great, so headed to the gym and spent several hours working off the burger, then gassed up the car and came home and ate up the remaining stuff that might spoil while I am gone, so all the things that needed to be filled are filled. Will spend the night packing and wrapping gifts and hoping the last package makes it (Post Office says it will be here by 8:45pm). Leaving tomorrow about 8am so don’t know if I’ll be able to post on the new MMP until I get in to Brother’s.

boo fae. it’s always a pleasure to read about your weekends.

Oopsie, your as close to a LEGO genius that we got here, and that cahmpange glass idea sounds intriguing.

nellie, best wishes for your sister, eye problems seem to be a family thing…

FCM, delightful pictures as always.

lily, welcome back. I’ve made it to all 7 continents, but not that fast! In fact, haven’t been on a plane all year, not counting COVID 2020, it’s been decades since I can say that. Some of those places you’ve been remain on my bucket list.

Knots, Christmas Adam; I like that.

And house is nice and toasty now, so packing and wrapping will commence shortly. Take care all and I’ll catch y’all on the next MMP.

A rousing 3 degrees ferret -height. If my thermometer is to be believed. My phone says 0.

Going to finish clearing out the shop this week. Not looking forward to that.

In what is a theme in my life (the more I fret in advance about how badly something could go, the less likely any if that is to happen) today was relatively non-hectic.

I mean, lots of orders (especially the ones for the half-baked kind that people take home & finish baking later … many people planned ahead so they could have :pizza: for Xmas when we’re closed) but there was none of the massive backlog of tickets & one-hour wait times I was fearing.

Plus, the Lions game was early in the day and almost over before we even opened … consensus was that if they’d played later in the evening, we’d have had a lot more traffic. (Go Lions! Heard they enjoyed a helluva win, and Grumpy Oven Master told me he won a bit of money betting on them, so LOTS of happy folks tonight.)

S.M. surprised us all with Taco Bell - which disappeared quickly - and she reported that they were both short-staffed and getting slammed so I guess they were stealing our customers LOL.

Dammit, I wish I’d seen this while I was still at work, it would’ve gotten a laugh, from most, and an eyeroll from a couple!

I might steal it & repost to FB for the laffs.

Alright, imma turn back around & head back out. I got the idea last night to get a Cornish hen, so I can roast some sort of critter for Xmas. Feels more festive than, like, soup or something, but still small enough to manageable for my single solitary self & small appetite.

My plan is to turn some of my holiday bonus into groceries, tonight, so the hen has a bit more time to start thawing.
I also have not yet gotten any more T.P. since last reporting on my household’s imminent shortage (IKR!!) plus I’m almost out of butter, and we simply can’t have that.

I have a reminder in my phone to drag the biiiiiig bin out tonight, so I’ll do that once I get back, since Walmart had the audacity to change from 24 hrs to closing at eleven friggin’ p.m. like this is thr Dark Ages, or Europe, or something, and the clock is a-tickin’ on my “obtaining a frozen little hen” quest.

Off I go!

Have a good night, y’all.

the same piece of paper and make 2 columns under each option labeled Pros and Cons. After listing all the Pros and Cons for each Option, might help to make the best choice clearer. But then you probably knew about this method.

I freaking love The Kennedy Center Honors!!! Normally it’s shown between Christmas and NYs. Well, I decided to look and see if any classic movies were on network tv this evening so I consulted the Guide and lo and behind, The Kennedy Center Honors were airing tonight! And I saw this about an hour before it started. WOW. What are the chances.
Anyway, it started out with Bonnie Raitt, then Arturo Sandoval. All the artists paying tribute to them are outstanding. (And one of my very favs, James Taylor, played guitar on one of the songs honoring Bonnie). Brandi Carlile sang one of the songs honoring Bonnie; what a voice that woman has! Another of my favs, Debbie Allen, is speaking about Arturo. Now a very fit man wearing tight pants and an open bolero top is dancing perhaps flamenco. oo-la-la.

I cleaned. I napped. The Canes won a noon game in MSG(IT’S A FESTIVUS MIRACLE!). Having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, meatloaf, and Youtubing French pre-Dreadnought videos (When Hotels Go To War)
I also got my WetOne and red homemade Xmas cards, and have them displayed.

It’s Festivus Eve!

Now I got a gnawin’ and a cravin’. That’s a Festivus Grievence for that.

What, you never made a Mad Max style technical for you G.I. Joe and Star Wars figures?

You’re gonna leave multiple chaos gods alone? :open_mouth:

Says you and Cleopatra. But {{{{nellie}}}} and good luck.

Double Yay!
And boo on the pass.

It’s worse at Catholic churches. The Altar Guild gets maybe 2 anna half hours between the end of Noon Mass and the 4:00 Kids Christmas Eve Mass.

The Devil is in the details.

I used to do one every year. Apart the time I did ChungKing Chops Suey.

Nods and smiles.

He was a very practical man. It won’t hurt and takes very little effort so why not?

That’s a body lift. Axle lifts are how folks get even more height. And your factory skid plates are not good enough.

Of course, we were hardcore jeepers who went out rock crawling on a regular basis which isn’t the smartest thing in the world to do. We had harnesses and carried big jacks to get us out of tight places.

So, knowing that you are probably smarter than us, your skid plates will probably serve you very well!

That’s great and is a whole of signing and money. Not a lot of places do Christmas bonuses anymore.

As usual, she certainly does live up to her name!

Nods in agreement.

It kept him busy for a couple of hours, plus everything will go to his cousin who has agreed to deliver it on arrival because most of it won’t be here before Christmas. That works as well, his cousins will be keeping in touch with him as packages arrive to help keep us both distracted from his heart issues. (He gets out of breath putting his socks on)

The topic of neighborhood conversation today was the broken down train behind us. I woke up briefly when I heard it honking it’s horn, noticed that it didn’t seem to be making much noise, went to pee and looked out the window to see that it was moving very slowly.

It was stopped when I got up and started moving around 0900. People live between the river and the tracks and they all were stuck at home until the train finally moved away from the crossings.

Nobody knew why it had happened or even what had happened, but everyone had strong opinions as to who was at fault. (Train company for shoddy engine and track maintenance or idiot in a car trying to beat the train.)

I suppose someone could have driven down the highway to take a gander, but that would have been too much bother.

I totally forgot about how much of a bother it would be to try to dry and style your hair when there are no outlets by the small mirrored area. Thanks for the kind explanation.

And now we are going to have problems. I didn’t like bakelite when I was young and I’m certainly not a fan now. Donna needs to stay in her own lane or I’ll paint the porch ceilings haint blue so ain’t none of her friends can sit on the porch with her.

Please drive very carefully, traffic is gonna suck when you are going home.

Well, the plan was to spend part of my bonus Benjie on groceries, and then try out a new dispo tomorrow (since 1st time customers get some kind of bonus freebie).

It was one of those “I thought I just came in for three (3) things!?” trips.
There was nothing in my cart I thought was frivolous or wasteful, just more than I thought … and that whole “inflation” thing is really grinding my gears.

Anyway, Benjie all gone :frowning: plus I had to throw some of my own shekels after him, but I have gooshy-fud for Monks and good stuff for the ratties (cheapo dog treats, and a bag of birdseed mix … eclectic mix I know, but it’s great nutrition for them) plus I have more frozen easy-food for when I go back to work AND a few less-easy things to cook over the next coupla days off.

Dispo will hafta wait, I guess. { sad trombone }

Why? I didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

Granted, my “commute” from home to work is approx. 5 min, and that’s IF I hit the red light.

'Bout 3 min each way to go back out to Wally World.

Here in the SE Mitten the temp was 12 when I woke and had gotten up to 19 as we drove to church at 10:40. Mid-afternoon it had risen to 22. Good thing we were wearing our long underwear.

metal mouse safe travels to Ohio! Glad to hear that nephew was discharged from hospital; may his recovery go well.

Hubs was happy, he told me the final score was 34-17.

{{{Hubs of JtC}}}

It is so nice to have Daughter in the vicinity; loved having her come to mass this morning then to brunch. We split a large order of Ashta & Pistachio pancakes; delish! Hubs had chicken & waffle.

Hubs got the snow blower started yesterday but he had to use our electrical cord as the one my sister gave that had been with the snowblower, for some strange reason, didn’t work. So, after mass he went to Lowe’s and picked up a new one. Supposed to start snowing tomorrow around 6pmish so Daughter is now all set.

And so ends another week in the MMP. See you next week ie tomorrow. [sometimes I crack myself up  ]

Started raining here just a little while ago. Buddy insisted on checking both doors, with the same result that yes, it is raining. He scurried away once it registered on him what outside conditions were like. Now that I’m seated on the sofa, he’s lap Velcro. When I was moving around doing a few things, I had an orange furry shadow.

Apparently, somekitty’s having an attack of the clingies.

Did you ever read Heinlein’s The Door Into Summer? There’s a cat of the main character who thinks that if he tries just one more door he will find good weather outside.

Yep, I’ve read that one (long-time Heinlein fan). Sounds like what Buddy was hoping for.

I think that question got answered today.  Not to so nearly as bad an outcome as before, but today, I tried to take my second Jeep through the road in question, which wasn’t nearly so wet and flooded as when I sank my first Jeep there.

As soon as I hit a certain patch of mud, it just stuck, like a mouse in a glue-based trap.  The mud, it turns out, is very nasty, there.

It turns out that there is a group on Facebook that is all about doing 4×4 rescues in Northern California.  No charge, just a bunch of amateurs looking out for one another.  Less than an hour after I posted in that group, another member had arrived and pulled me out.  Much faster response than I have ever had from any professional towing company.  A second would-be rescuer arrived just as the first had finished pulling me free.
