(Old) Up, Up and Away in the MMP

Daughter visits today. I’m pretty sure she won’t cancel, as she knows she’s on thin ice with me right now. Here’s hoping.

Cornmeal pancakes this morning ::swoon::.

Rainy out there this AM, but not storming. Woke up feeling the change in barometric pressure. Very sluggish and achy. I hate being old.

Busy day, the 300 Slide was slammed, and they didn’t get everything out. So we’re coming in an hour early on Saturdays from now on. Damages and retapes were drawn out as usual. And it was hot. But I’ve laundry washed, and in the clothes dehydrator, got (preseason)handegg on, and I’m waving a gin&tonic to ward off the scurvy and malaria.

After thirty years in retail, I really identify with the witches who moved deep into the woods, and killed and ate everyone that bothered them.

You could make some meow mein with that.

We ship feeder insects and worms, so when I hear high pitched screaming, I know I have to play invertebrate wrangler.

My Dad worked for J.C. Penny, and they transfered him to Kinston in 1976, then Wilmongton, then Durham, then out of state. I stayed behind(they left me the 1970’s avocado green couch, and non matching orange lamps, though).

Rule 34!

< crosses fingers >

The last audible one scared the snot out of Spot.

It may be loud, and it may smell bad, but flatulence is only weapons-grade if you set fire to it.

Go you! I’m going to check and see if they will take my blood after I’m done with my shoulder, and if I can will also start donating regularly. Did you know that donating blood is one of the few ways to offload some of the micro-plastics in your body?

Do you have a plan for what will happen if he catches any fish? Like, is he going to clean them in your kitchen sink?

Hubs finally started listening to me and is now eating Greek yogurt every morning and taking acidophilus tablets. They made a difference overnight. It probably couldn’t hurt for you or VanGo to add a little to your diets.

I hope you start feeling better soon, the both of you.

VanGo, do you know what it was that you shouldn’t have eaten but did? It isn’t just lettuce, there are a lot of other things to worry about as well.

And now its the eggs. Huge recall and lots of salmonella warnings. I sure do miss Biden, this sort of thing didn’t keep happening on his watch.

So George got a mani today. He might be bigger than your lil dawggies, but it sounds like he’s much easier. He just tries to pull his feet away to hide under his body, but he knows that if I’m going to do it, its going to happen and the sooner I’m done, the sooner the treats he cans see will be in his mouth.

:slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face: and you do it a lot!

I am so glad to hear this. You go girl, out there saving lives while overcoming fears!

And then this made me snort laugh out loud. Woke up the purring cat faux sleeping on my bosom.

Oh! It’s 14:20! We’re leaving for Canadarrrrrr in 40 minutes. ‘Tempers fuggit.’

I’m thinking now it wasn’t the bug, just normal food poisoning. I was fine at 5 pm, I know the time cuz I wrote an email and was feeling fine. Then long about 7 I had a small salad. 5 minutes later it bounced. I’m blaming some expired salad dressing, or maybe the feta. My abs are sore from puking. Couldn’t even keep a 'nanner down this morning. Still haven’t really eaten anything.

But Ms Peach liked having be around even if I’ve been boring,

Not my problem!

Daughter asked if I wanted to go see SIX with her, so we went to the 4PM show today. I didn’t know much about it but I really enjoyed it. It probably helped that I know a bit about Henry’s six wives.

And Daughter informed me that SIL’s schedule is such that I don’t need to keep Roxy on Moanday or Thursday, so she’ll just be here 2 days. Which is a lot easier on me. Yay.

If the rain holds off tomorrow, I’ll do some mowage. That’s as far as I’ve thought ahead. I had a less-than-restful night last night, so I’m going to chill now.

I eat Greek yogurt every day and take probiotics. This is a side effect of the antibiotics.

So I’m responsible for awakening two pets now, huh? :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope that you’re feeling better soonest, VanGo.

'Twas a lazy afternoon. I finished up a book that I began a couple of days ago. I might even do something in the studio tonight. Like I told my sister when I talked with her this morning, mornings are the worst part of the day, energywise.

Hey, real quick y’all, I have a message (and bonus kitty photo!) from our lovely and very worn out night nurse. She wants me to post both, and I will! But I just saw it & I gotta work Late Night so I hafta deal with all that later.

But rest assured, she exists!

The church lunch had onion rings! Crispy and wonderful. There should be a food place called Rings, with the g in the shape of an O ring.
As if that werent enough- cheesy tots.

I kinda figured! The massive dose of antibiotics Hubs was on during his gout discovery trip was what made him start paying attention.

So mostly I cam beck to say that I can stitch again! My arm is starting to ache so I needed a break, and my fine motor control isn’t great. My smart hand (right) has forgotten how to stitch upside down. I was hoping there would be some memory memory, like typing seems to be, but apparently I’m wrong.

So, I should work on reminding my hand how to wield a needle again, off with me.

Howdy Y’all! We had some quality cee-mint pond time and came back into a definitely not cool cave. Thus a call was made to the a/c folks who came out around four p.m. and got it goin’ again. Sump’n about a tripped switch in the attic. Anywho, 'tis blisfully cool in da cave again. Thus is the news from swampland.

BooFae a day of sloth and takeout sounds like a perfect day to me. Hope y’all enjoyed it.

Taters fwiw, I think your decision to remain a RDOS is a wise one.

VanGo sorry you’re still unwell. May you be over it soonest.

red do take advantage of your neighbor’s offer. He wouldn’t have said it if’n he didn’t mean it. Plus he’s a good neighbor.

Oopsie sorry about your “oopsie!” I hope your haid is less sore tomorrow. Also, yay on gettin’ to bug out of the office early yestiddy.

BrightTree glad the blood lettin’ went without a hitch. Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the pond fix.

MOOOOOOM OK, Six sounds like it would be entertainin’. I’d say I might even be persuaded to go to the movie theater to see it, but we all know that ain’t gonna happen.

Coppertone onion rings and cheesy tots are two things I get when we get stoner food from Cook Out. YUM!

JtC yay for bein’ able to stitch again! Your right hand will figure it out soon enough.

Ordered onion rings at a pub type restaurant the other day. I got two rings. Each one was the size of my fist . Big thick slabs - so huge it took three or four bites per ring. Damn, they were good.

Evening all. Exercise is done for the day, food has been ingested and is being assimilated, and nothing of consequence is planned before tomorrow. Still near 90F at 7:30pm, and not due to get much cooler for the foreseeable future. Might have to get the sprinklers out and water the yard if no rain shows up in the next several days.

Now to pickup on all the conversations I’ve missed the past few hours…

red, thanks for showing my old memory isn’t totally decrepit yet…

Nut, I occasionally have the same thing, hearing a ‘thunk’ outside which sounds like something substantial landed in my back yard, but when I look…nada. It is a puzzlement.

Oopsie , hope replacement of jackass is quick and you get someone highly competent (and not a jackass). Enjoy all your new Lego sets. Nice looking watch. And mind your head; while on vacation and visiting caves in Ohio and Kentucky I ‘brushed’ my head a number of times, but nothing serious or bloody.

CatGlove, considering his memory, does he really need to be out on a boat fishing?

Bright Tree, will be standing by to hear if Pond Guy is successful or not.

Cookie, felt old after doing the mowing yesterday…youth is wasted on the young…

Safe travels up North, flyboy.

VanGo, feel better soon.

shoe, will be waiting to see your message from afar.

Not an onion ring fancier, but the tater tots do sound good.

And that’s all from here. Catch y’all tomorrow as I try to get the Sunday NY Times without passing too close to the sticky buns at Kroger. Wish me luck…

BrightTree  Thank you for donating the Gift of Life! You’re inspiring me to sign up for my church’s blood drive on the 30th.

same. so, like you, I’ll stay up until I’m close to face planting then go to bed sometime between 8 and 9.

Laugh-snort.

close to 40 years ago when we rented a cottage up north, he caught some fish and cleaned them himself, there was a sort of covered counter outside where that was to be done, then cooked them. He and daughter ate them; I might have had a bite or two. I don’t care for fish. The last 10 years I’ve rented a cottage different locations about 6 times. Now when he catches fish, he throws them back. He does not fish anywhere close to home.
metal mouse he’s going to fish from a public fishing platform. I did a lot of internetting today and created 3 documents: one called directions for directions first to the cottage then to 4 points of interest that we will visit, then one for Bella-dog beaches and dog friendly restaurants and lastly one of things to do-which includes a page and a half on fishing locations; here’s just a snip: “Spring Lake: Offers 1,251 acres of water with public fishing platforms and a municipal launch. Look for largemouth bass, black crappie, bluegill, northern pike, and yellow perch.” Note: there will be no launching.

We attended the visitation for next-door neighbor’s Mom. The ‘service’ consisted first of everyone being ask to sing her favorite song: Chattanooga Choo Choo, then her daughters, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, one grandniece talking about the deceased and sharing a lot of hysterical anecdotes. Next-door neighbor shared that her mother was all about the 4 F’s (got an instant laugh): Family, Friends, Food, Fun. She was 97-1/2 and man did she live life! Then most people beat feet to next-door neighbor’s house where she put on a feed bag to beat all feed bags!

Rest of the day consisted of trying to get as many ducks in a row so we’re able to leave before noon tomorrow. Not sure I’ll be able to get on the mmp tomorrow so if not, have as great of a week as possible! Will remember you all in my prayers.

It’s 9:57pm, and I had a pretty good day of doing nothing much. It included finishing Donkey Kong:

It’s actually “playable”: there are 20 tiny barrels in there that roll through, the joystick moves Mario, etc. The Central Perk set arrived shortly after I finished DK, and I got about halfway through that one before deciding to relocate to the TV room for the rest of the evening. I didn’t build Lego all afternoon nonstop, though: I took breaks to do some further organizing and finish the book I was reading (and cue up the next sample on my Kindle), and I also read the newest New Yorker.

I normally do laundry on Sunday evenings, but I’ve been having an issue where my washer gets stuck on the “wash” part of the “normal” cycle: it takes a while for me to notice, and then I have to run a “rinse & spin” cycle, and it takes extra time to finish everything and I’m up doing laundry later than I wanted to be. I had an idea to try a different cycle this weekend, but figured I’d do it tonight instead of tomorrow so I’d have plenty of time to run another cycle if needed. But it worked! Yay! The dryer just finished: I’ll go to bed in about 30 minutes, and will take everything upstairs and put it away then.

My head has been vaguely sore all day. I think skipping the shower this morning was a good idea. I’m hoping that tomorrow both spots will only be sore when something touches them (like water, or a brush/comb).

I hope she made it!

I’ve heard really good things about that show…but still, when my trip to NY at the end of September might have been to NYC and I started researching possible shows, I was pretty sure I was gonna go see Hamilton. Again.

(Largely because Christopher Jackson is returning as George Washington!)

I think part of my issue with this storage room ceiling is that I’m only 5’3, and not used to ever having to duck! Of course, the other part of my issue is that I’m a slow learner.

Stupid work google signed me out. That old password worked last week. All for “security.” I’m sure it’s written down a slip of paper on my desk.

Yay! I hope that your mojo comes back along with your physical ability.

When my sister gets out the deep fryer, any meat or vegetable is fair game, since she only does it every now and again. She makes wonderful beer battered onion rings, okra, mushrooms and calabacitas.
