I’m going to open a can of snails and make escargots tonight. I’m also going to sauté some red chard in bacon and drippings, and bake some chicken thighs and carrots.
Good day, all!
Today’s weather report: Yesterday, ditto. Today’s breakfast report: Yesterday, ditto.
fly boy, your anniversary dinner sounds spectacular. If I ever find myself back in Vancouver, I’ll definitely check the place out. Thanks for sharing the information, and I’m glad you had a celebration worthy of the occasion!
Mollie, I’m so sorry you didn’t feel you had a safe place to pee.
That’s just wrong. You rocked your look, though, so well done you! The beef burgundy looks awfully yum, too.
Shoe, YM-T has shown who he is. Woe to the manager that doesn’t pay heed to it and keep him from being a boss. And thanks for being a mensch and sharing Bbbboo’s piccie and message! Re your new burn, I have similar matching scars on my right forearm from being careless while loading wood into the wood burner. Both times it happened: “Doh!” Haven’t added a new one for quite some years, though, so maybe lesson finally learned. May it be the same for you.
Taters, I’m touched at your visits with your dad in your dreams. That you have such wonderful memories of him is a testament to what a great father he was. I hope the day is gentle with you. Sorry about the unpleasant changes to your neighborhood. Understandable why you spend time online looking for a new place. I would, too.
FCM, sounds like you’ll put on quite the fine feed for your family on Tuesday! It all sounds delicious!
Bbbooo, Moxie is definitely in her happy place and is obviously ready to have you to herself and home! I’m glad she is holding you down so you can get a proper rest. ![]()
swampy, I hope your day went as you wished it to. Sounds like a pleasant evening ahead. Ollie approves of your views on feet.
Good job on the shopping trip, BooFae – now for your day’s reward! ![]()
cookie, I’m happy you got a nice visit with your daughter and had a nice Sunday breakfast. Good family and good food – what’s not to love?
Knots, your ideas for creative fishing are intriguing and original. I’d love to see you spend more time pursuing them.
Metal Mouse, I’m sure you earned your pecan sticky bun, so I hope you enjoyed every bite.
You can keep your weather. Hope the dinner is worth stirring yourself for!
I’ll have to keep an eye out for those New Mexican chilicabras, doggio. I hope you had a pleasant day off.
52, nice to hear from you and thanks for posting the pic of your Oliver! What a sweetie! My Ollie is similarly disdainful of my toy flinging abilities. The toy he prefers is heavy-ish and goes every which way when I throw it, heightening my nervousness for oil lamps and other delicate tchotchkes around the house. He usually gets his way and I risk it, though.
Glad you got a good sleep, Oopsie. Sometimes that’s exactly what we need.
Congrats on the first almost meal, VanGo. It’s a start! Good to hear you’re feeling that much better at last.
Not much happening here today around Chez Bright. Just how I like it.
Due to the limited availability of Pond Guy this week, all my other plans got scrambled. It’s just as well. Pond Guy will be here Tuesday, so I ended up canceling plans I had that day to meet friends for lunch. I feel like I need to be around and available in case Pond Guy has questions.
House-irk happened. The kitchen is as clean as it’s been in awhile. Am getting ready to give the floors a good mop, and then it will be done. I also did roll-sucking and cleaned the main bathroom, too. Enough of all this craziness!
I’m making Minestrone soup for dinner. Easy and delicious, plus it freezes nicely for meals down the road. I make it a lot. Can anyone guess what will be dessert?
Have excellent evenings, everyone. See you all in the next MMP! ![]()
Howdy Y’all! I early deheathenated and then came back to da cave for a chikin sallit sammich followed by nappage. Tomorrow is men’s night over to the church house, so I got steaks marinatin’ and beer chillin’. Also, since I went back over this afternoon for group, I left a little early and went to
Wally*World
to get N.O.T., sallit makin’s, and frozen bizkits and then to Salt Lick for some jalapeño/cheddar smoked snausage, all for tomorrow night and took 'em to the church house just to get that outta the way. Whilst at Salt Lick, I got us some of the Vidalia onion/cheddar smoked snausages to have one night this week. Both snausages are so nummy, as are all their snausages, steaks and other stuff. I picked up stoner food on the way back, which we then consumed and then watched some stoopid teevee for a bit. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow, as well. shoe this is your weekly reminder to make sure you take out the trash.
Nuts I like your career plan! It’s never too early to start workin’ on what kind of weird old person you want to be. The idea of a “posh” thrift store amuses me. I get the concept, but since I do not live in or even near what could be described as a posh area, it is also foreign to me.
BooFae hope you enjoyed the slofthful afternoon and evenin’.
Cookie glad you had a good visit with your daughter.
Knotty we enjoyed Best Medicine and are lookin’ forward to more episodes.
MetalMouse I wish we had a Texas Roadhouse here. The closest one to us is Columbus, Jawja. I like the food.
shoe I do love a good irk insurrection.
Taters just so you know, it is OK to be grumpy.
Mollie nice smile, and ain’t nuttin’ wrong with your floozy shorts!
52 when I was on my way home this afternoon my vehicle said the outdoor temp was 103. The heat index made it 112. Way too hawt to be anywhere but inside in the a/c! Also you must do sump’n about Oliver’s lack of toys he wants to play with post-haste!
Oopsie I was an allegedly full fledged adult when DK, Pac-Man, Ms Pac-Man and Space Invaders were all the rage, but I did play more than my fair share. I had regular high scores on the DK and Space Invaders machines.
Bob thanks for the read. It was innerestin’. Also I would so try a layer cake with a bell pepper ganache.
BrightTree I agree, enough with the madness! Stop before you decide you need to scrub the bathroom grout with a bar of lye soap and a toothbrush!
Nettie the overlords are lookin’ especially contented!
Looking good lady. And the shorts are a good length.
Helpfully pressing that F6 key for you.
That’s good.
Missile Command would be an easy build. ![]()
Shots fired! ![]()
You have them organized. My CDO loves it.
Not to be confused with DMK from Night of the Comet
My lab partner went full serial killer on the mortal remains of Michigan J. Frog.
It’s looked like it wants to rain. Or maybe it has rained, and the droplets turned to steam before groundfall.
As long as you’re mending. Ms. Peach needs a working toy flinger.
Watching “My Neighbor Totoro”. Reminded of what vehicle I really wanted, but there are no Catbus dealerships in my country, so I had to settle for my Jeep.
We’re watching Gunga Din (1939).
The escargots were delicious. Ms Femme likes the two smaller snails in the mushroom cap better than one large snail. I’m hoping to serve dinner at six.
Awww, look at them kitties!
Ours survived us being away overnight. After big lunch yesterday plus family summer birthdays cake, and a waffle this morning, I only want water for dinner.
Evening all. Ate at Texas Roadhouse as planned, sorry swampy there is none of them close to your place, they are probably the best of the three ‘steak’ places I go (Longhorn and Logan’s are the other two) and I enjoy their rolls (only ate 3 of 4 today, so I had at least that much discipline). Then spent much of the afternoon at the gym, came home to a Big Bowl O’Salad for dinner and am working on the RDOS part of the day. Still 85F at nearly 8pm, and it is not due to get any cooler for the rest of the week. Since youth soccer is due to start practicing and games begin on the 22nd, we’ll be putting the priority on water breaks and monitoring the kids so there is no heat exhaustion/stroke occurrences (the only one we had last year was a referee, so I’ll be watching myself too).
And a lot to cover, so best be about it…
Shoe, don’t think any of the burns I got from being a short-order cook in my twenties still exist, but I so have a scar on my right hand from trying to separate two frozen steaks with a large knife once…
Taters, I would love to have your weather, but probably not until October here. And my dad passed away in 2000, but I still remember him by incorporating his birth year in some of my passwords. Sorry your neighborhood is so rowdy; do others feel as you do?
FCM, I wish I had the gumption to take care of my yard like you do…I mow on a regular basis and have Tru-Green treat the lawn but that is about all.
Flyboy, I paid about the same for upgraded wiring this year, so know the feeling.
Nut, sounds like a posh day all around.
Mollie, nice pics.
52, love Oliver’s pic, if not his attitude (but then again he’s a cat, attitude is a feline trait).
Oopsie, I have one of those “it’s WHAT TIME?!?” days about once a month, it’s hard catching up but sometimes you just don’t argue with your body.
Bob-B, thanks for playing Mr. Wizard on taxonomy. Interesting.
I did the frog-dissection too (actually my lab partner did the cutting, I was squeamish) as part of Biology, don’t remember a lot more, I remember that we did cover evolution in some detail, which was fairly progressive for the 1970’s.
VanGo, glad you had something that went down and stayed down. Keep on improving.
Bright Tree, I did enjoy it, but I paid the price at the gym this afternoon. But it was worth the sweat.
Nettie, great feline poses.
swampy, getting in my car after 2-3 hours at the gym was not pleasant, but I survived.
And it’s nearing 8:30pm, if I don’t make it back for a late night final, y’all take care and I’ll see you on the next MMP.
I’m sure it was safe as houses - our server is a member, and they list themselves as LGBTQ+ friendly. I just lacked the confidence to get up and go in there. Apparently that’s common with newbies.
You and everyone else are very kind. 52, thank you for the compliment. Y’all are gonna make my ego as big as Bono’s, if you keep this up.
It was, too. I finished it up with sautéed pearl onions and mushrooms and served over some of my potatoes from the garden, which I boiled up. We picked up a baguette after yoga for sopping.
I am very full.
Time to stave off scurvy and malaria.
Every time I feel like I’m getting ahead, there’s another expense.
Maybe I won the lotto game (I saw it was down to a megabuck).
The chard was a bit salty. Mrs. L.A. said, ‘There’s “good salty”, and “I can’t eat this salty”. This is good salty.’ The chicken thighs had nice, crispy skin. The carrots were… carrots.
The sky has opened and a thunderous deluge ends our weekend. Which suggests there may not be mowage tomorrow.
For now, tho, it’s sleepy-bye time.
If ever in doubt, look for someone with a safety pin on their collar or better yet, a trans flag color pin that says I’ll go with you . I tend to keep one of each around for occasions that may have someone recently out or doesn’t feel safe using the ladies’ room.
I’m at Sis’ for a couple of days. I had breathing issues last night. I was given instructions to drink more water with the antibiotics, but my body wasn’t getting rid of all of it. I called the help line and they told me to double up on the diuretics. It’s helping, but lord, I can’t get for from the loo. ![]()
After that, we watched “Howl’s Moving Castle”. I guess a castle like that, is at least as unobtainable as a Catbus.
I guess my Jeep will do, if I cannot have a Catbus, nor a moving castle like Howl’s.
Have I ever tolllldddd yooouuu that you’re my heeeeeero … ![]()
(Actually, I did remember tonight, but having a reminder that I could say “Done!” was a nice feeling. Thank you, Swampy for being so thoughtful.)
He’s uneven. Today was smooth sailing. We all have good & bad days - humans are not mechanical cogs - but it’s just so unpredictable with him.
Meh.
S.M. is highly aware (I told her about the Sprinkles incident, and separately on another day, I overheard her kinda kvetching him out about something regarding how to handle closing paperwork, dunno the details not my circus, etc.) but this gotta play out how TPTB want it handled.
“I just work here.”
