Prepping for a visit in the MMP

Shew!! It’s been a busy couple of days! Mostly catching up with stuff I should have gotten done before, but whatever.

It’s currently 69 < snerk > Ferrets with a projected high of 88F. Icky. Things get reasonable again starting on Friday. I’ve no business complaining, though, so I’ll deal.

In answer to the thread title question, an hour’s notice would be fine. I’m reasonably (superficially) tidy. And the way the house is laid out, people rarely get past the kitchen. (Don’t open the junk drawer, though.) So stack a few dishes into the dishwasher, give the toilet a quick scrub, remove the dog throws off the furniture, maybe run a quick floor duster around and put on the coffee. Or make sure there is a bottle of wine chilling. I always have a stray goodie onhand to share. Currently there is banana nut bread and oatmeal chocolate chip pecan cookies in the freezer and a fresh peach pie in the fridge. Give me 10 minutes, and I’ll have fresh baked brownies for you, if you prefer. With or without NON. Problem is, they won’t cool very fast, so you’d better opt for the pie, cookies or nut bread.

I don’t do drop-ins, even from Mumpers. Thank you, Mr. Gate!

I sure hope things are better for you soon, red. You’ve endured a lot for this treatment – very understandably! – and I just hope the next few weeks go smoothly. Hang in there, 'kk? Nelson and his kin are quite fetching. Love the piccie!

FCM, ugh on the non-appearing family members. But after the initial disappointment has abated, there is something kind of nice about having a nice, tidy home and food made ahead for the next few days. It is a shame one can’t freeze chicken salad. I see you’ve already dealt with that concern, though.

Welcome home to your cosmopolitan daughter, yanker! I would love to hear her stories.

Good job on completion of the new office chair, metal mouse! And congrats on the continued weight loss, too!

We share this concern, rocker. In my case, the answer is, “Oh, dear.”

Yaayyyy, wet one, I’m so glad you and Ariel will soon be riding together again! I hope it all goes well.

Nellie, my best wishes to your daughter in such a challenging stretch in her life. I know you will help her through in every way you can. Hope your sis’s angiogram/stent procedure goes well. Max is just heart-meltingly cyyoote! I hope repair of your popped stitch is without drama or complications. Safe travels when you head back east.

I think you are just aces for doing this through thick and thin, JtC. It takes a tremendous amount of intestinal fortitude and dedication. But then, you’ve shown us you have that with how you’ve handled your PT, too. You’re a star! I hope ice cream and shine were part of your evening. Or a second pain pill, whichever worked the best.

It is totally nummy. If you like any of popovers, German pancakes/Dutch babies, you’ll probably like Yorkshire pudding, too.

Agreed. I always feel like I’m riding on guts from mid-July until the rain starts again here, with the threat of wildfires. We’ve had a fairly moderate year so far. Enjoy the time at your son’s place, if you go!

Bbbboo, you are a fount of interesting information. Thanks for sharing what you know.

Cute, doggio. How about, “My PenIsLeaking!”

Yesterday was busy with continuing (mostly repetitive) household tasks. More roll-sucking, some dusting, the construction of a peach pie, figuring out some things on my refrigerator that required adjustment, crap like that. Ignore-it-at-one’s-peril stuff.

I used a new peach pie recipe, and I won’t bother with it again. A lot of extra fussing for an outcome that wasn’t special enough to merit it. The peaches are divine, though.

Ollie had toenail trimming first thing this morning, so that’s done and dusted for another couple of weeks. His nails are growing like mad, so the trim place suggested another trim in 2 weeks rather than three. I’ve no idea why the sudden spurt of growth on them, but they looked like something out of a horror movie pre-trim.

I learned my blood type and it’s nothing special – not that I expected otherwise. They’re already asking for platelets. I’m not sure I’m up to that, but I’ll give it some thought. I know it’s important.

Pond Guy begged to reschedule to Thursday, which has messed up my week’s plans but good. Oh, well, grin and bear it. Of course! Thursday will be fine! I just want the repair in my rear view mirror.

Dinner will be a London Broil on the grill with fresh corn and half a spud, I think. Peach pie for dessert.

Time now for a cup of tea.

Hope everyone’s day is as fine as it can be!
