Happy birthday, coppertone! ![]()
And good morning, everyone else!
I barely recognize myself this morning, because it’s only 9:35am and I’ve already – a couple of hours ago, even – done a little yard work! Me! Of the black thumb! The new house has hardly any back yard to speak of, but enough that there was an overgrown something-or-other right by the fence that needed to be trimmed. Long-handled hedge clippers to the rescue! I also sprayed some Roundup between the few bits of concrete that are out there, and on a vine that seems to be threatening to take over. And I discovered that the back gate doesn’t open/close/latch well – but it does open/close/latch, so anything else would be on me. I’ll get it fixed at some point, but it’s quite low on my list; just above improving the general look of that space, which is currently pretty much dirt and weeds. I need to take the electric hedge trimmer to the evergreen that’s next to the front door (it’s blocking the house number sign), but it’s still too early for that kind of noise and it’ll be too hot later; it’s already 80° on the way to 90°. Another day.
I think I overdid it yesterday. The only thing the movers did wrong was stack a few boxes too high in BR3: I had to pull three heavy boxes down in order to open them. I also carried the basement chair up to the LR, decided that I like some acrylic shelves better under the LR window than the small wood bookcase I’d put there, and carried the heavy-ish wood bookcase to the basement (to hold the drink fridge that’s being delivered tomorrow). That was in addition to general unpacking, bagging all of the packing paper, organizing, cleaning, etc. My back and legs aren’t happy with me today, but all of the unpacking is done now!
There is still some organizing to do, including a few things that need to be moved from the top floor to the basement; I’ll gradually start taking them with me whenever I naturally go downstairs. I’m still adjusting to the stairs and need one hand free for the bannister whenever I go up/down, especially if I’m carrying something heavy, so I’ll just move one thing at a time. It won’t take long.
I’ll be getting my first Instacart delivery at the new place this morning, I have a little work to do before lunch, and at some point later on I’ll do laundry; otherwise, I don’t plan to do much today. I might start tackling the four Lego sets that broke when I moved them: three of them should be pretty straightforward (just reconnecting things), but with one of them I basically need to start all over. I won’t mind.
Maybe next weekend I can finally start building one of the five new sets that are waiting for me.

Something definitely had all of their attention! LOL!
Ha! I’ll be keeping it at work, though: the only place it will be appreciated. ![]()
