(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

Thank goodness Lily cat is home.

I’m making a flavorful roasted tomato and habanero salsa to go with our grilled chicken breasts for lunch. I’m following the suggestions made here on the Dope to dress up my low-salt cooking with tart things and/or spicy things. Well, it’ll be tart and spicy, what with the habaneros and the lime juice.

It’s going to hit 93 degrees here today and we’re girding ourselves. So far we have all the windows open to get some air and humidity into the house. But in just a short while, we’ll have to close up and turn on the AC, and then it’ll be cool and arid indoors. My nose, lips, and cuticles do not like dry air.

Mr. brown is currently in love with his latest toy: a Stihl brand hand-held vacuum. It really does do a great job, and is powerful and efficient. And it’s way easier to use it than to drag out the heavy Sears conventional vacuum.

I got bounced back and forth between the 100 and 200 Sort Table, then down to the 100 slide to clean that up, then they sent me to load on the 100 North. At 0600.. Then back to clean up the 100 Slide, back to loading, then over to the 300 Slide to help fix that mess. Again. Oy. I wonder if I can grieve for incompetence and cluelessness? It was 88 Ferrets when I got out.

Yay! Now throw an anchor on that cat.

Airtag that beastie. You can see whose house she’s commandeering behind your back.

No worries there. She never brings drama and is always cheerful. It really perks the wife up to see her.

Our boat chores took longer than we’d hoped, but long enough that we had to go to Salsa’s for lunch. Now we’re home and FCD is cleaning all the heat exchangers in his shop. My new ice maker arrived, and it’s smaller than the old one, but just as fast, so no biggie - I transfer the ice to the freezer every 25 minutes, so it doesn’t get overfilled.

Quite breezy and the sun is out - so I’m not sure if I’ll get out into the yard. Maybe when the house shades the area where I need to work. We’ll see.

Forgot to mention here (tho I did on FB) - my kitteh Ziva is 18 today. She’s mostly blind and deaf, but she eats and drinks and uses her litter box. She stays in the bedroom and attached bath, and if Otis dares to sniff her, she hisses like a demon! So as long as none of this changes, she’ll keep on keeping on. And if the time comes that I have to make the big decision, I’m mostly ready. (As if we ever are…)

Hippo Birdy to Ziva!

I’m not certain whether I or Lily the Cat should be referred to as N.O.L.

Agreed absolutely.

@purplehorseshoe In Michigan there’s really pretty good medical insurance through the affordable care act. Maybe youve checked into it already and i apologize for mentioning it, however you may be eligible for a very low cost albeit high deductible plan that would at least cover preventative care. My kid (27) is a free lance tattoo artist and works a part time retail job I don’t know her yearly income but her premium is zero.

You’re just fine, not a problem, not to worry.

mollie dear, get ready to do without usable pockets. I have a whole rant about that.

And I’m glad Harry has Jane and hubs right there for the long haul as he grieves such a loss. I foresee lots of cookies coming his way and long chats about birds, flying squirrels and neighborhood intel over the fence-he’ll need it. I hope Jane can tell him he has a whole passel of Mumper friends who care about him and are sending thoughts his way.

I don’t have a sweetheart anymore to sit on the porch with but I do have people who love me-all I hope for is that one of them is holding my hand and telling me they won’t forget me. Then they can compost me for all I care as long as someone takes in my cat and insures her a continued life of adoration and leisure.

Agreed and I also hate it when the ice shifts when you take a sip and dumps a big slosh of the drink down your shirt. Sometimes I forgo ice for that reason if I’m out in public and don’t want to risk looking like I put on a shirt from the dirty clothes hamper the rest of the day. First world problems I know.

And I am ever so glad Lily came home! Sauntered in without a care in the world I bet

Ouroborus puppy! When I first saw the picture on my mobile, I wasn’t sure where the head was.

We have a few more ice trays, but normally there’s only one in the freezer, because we got out of the habit of putting ice in our drinks. It’s already cold, why add ice? It’s rarely that hot here.

So very sorry for Harry’s loss. Such a sweet story about when they got marries. Sorry for your loss as well - I’ve really enjoyed your stories about Harry.

Somebody gets it. That’s really the only reason I have ice - for tequila!

Discourse is being disagreeable. Or maybe it’s my tablet - the cursor and what I’m typing isn’t lining up. Very odd.

Couldn’t get the IRS to cooperate so I’m sending a check, which is still permitted, just not encouraged. Seems we’re not the only ones having problems. So my plan to go to bed early is not on schedule. At least we got some more rain - we’re still almost at drought stage, so I’m happy to get rain.

FUBAR doesn’t begin to cover it. Hugs from afar as you both fight that battle.

Hugs to you in advance {{{{{ moooom }}}}}

Evening.
Sorry to hear about Mrs. Harry. Sounds like the sort of neighbours I’d like to have…

It’s been raining on and off all day, with sunny spells and a nice dramatic rainbow. Sunset is 10pm as of today, but it’s barely going dark now, just a sort of twilight.

I feel bad talking about our medical system here- it’s got plenty of issues (if you saw how incredibly sketchy my dentist looks from outside you would not be envying me free checkups- it’s fine inside, but from the street it really does look you might go in for a tooth extraction and wake up with no kidneys), but the costs aren’t one. Most stuff is free in Scotland, and the things that aren’t are cheap. The more I’ve heard about the US system the more horribly unfair it sounds.

Neck pats and nuzzles to both of you. I hope Ariel’s hindquarters is better already by the time you get there.

Just finished a telehealth counseling session. I like presenting authentically[1] for these sessions. I just grabbed some shorts and a tee-shirt, and the appropriate underthings, and thought “I wonder how that dress would look if I had my hair on.” I like it better with my hair on and shapers, so I’m less stick-like. I can do better, but it’s not bad. And it’s swirly.

Yes - that’s its big minus. No pockets.

  1. I actually said that for the first time today. ↩︎

I worked maybe an hour in the yard, but it’s hard to tell from the limited progress.

I dug up and moved all the border pieces - they were around gardens that are going away. Then I moved a few more black eyed susans and a couple of liriope and mulched that end. Only the 3 curved border pieces are dug in - I’ll get to the rest. I need to pull a line first to ensure they’re straight. Then I can finish planting.

FCD said the main heat exchanger was about 80% blocked - which could explain the overheating, ya think? He’s cleaned them all, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m hoping that’s it and not more clogs along the hoses.

I’m hot and sweaty and probably stinky - shower time??

Get a sporran.

We should not be having this conversation in the richest country in the world. There is more than enough money for everyone to have quality health care, not just the few who are rich or old enough to qualify.

It hurts my heart to see that you are still uninsured, what happened with your plans to go to trade school? As I recall, you were offered some financial support, was it not enough?

If I didn’t offer to kick in back when you were thinking about it, I’m sorry. I would be willing to kick in for tuition for you to go to a trade school that would allow you to get a job with health insurance. And maybe even save some money for emergencies and retirement.

super political rant, read at your own risk

Summary

(Also, you are falling for the propaganda. Its not us against you, there is enough for everyone but as long as we fight amongst ourselves, we forget who the real enemy is. They are the ones who want a class war, most of the rest of us want you to be able to get regular boob squishings and eye exams.)

Thanks everyone for your kind words about Harry and the Mrs. She really was a lovely person, very kind and welcoming with a wicked sense of humor.

I agree that her passing was a good one and I’d like to go that way.

They raised four kids who got married and had children and those children have had children who also got married and then there are the bonus children…so they have a whole lot of family and they are all either here or on the way.

I went over this morning with food and then wiped down the bathrooms and squirted blue stuff in the toilets, then grabbed a couple of teenagers who were unfortunate to be in sight and had them help me wipe down the kitchen and pick up the detritus that always happens when lots of people gather.

They aren’t slobs or anything but that many people are going to soil things without noticing.

It seems as though I know Harry better than his own family, they have decided that he’s going to move closer to them and were discussing hospitals in the different locals when I left. Harry’s not going to move. He and the Mrs built that house in the 80’s and raised their kids there, the only way he’s leaving is feet first.

Harry hasn’t been part of the discussion, though. We woke up to thunderboomers and rain which continued until almost noon. Harry started mowing about 9 and is still out there. I brought him a couple of samiches and some water earlier, but have otherwise left him alone.

I’ll probably go back later and wipe things down again.

Back when I went through menopause, my doctor told me to start taking potassium and magnesium to help my body absorb calcium. Which I also take. I got the results of the bone density scan I just had and it seems as though it is working.

Please do not take this wrong, it is meant with good intentions…but I think you will never be happy with dresses because you do not have a butt or hips. They just will not hang properly on your body.

You might be happier with skirts and tops though. Many women cannot wear dresses because our tops and bottoms don’t match how the designers think they should. While I have both boobs and hips in the right proportions, I have a short waist and the only dresses I’ve ever had that fit correctly were custom made.

That’s gotta mean she’s feeling better, I hope her health continues to improve.

Dang, now I’m going to stay up late wondering how a very domesticated and pampered horse could manage to do that. It would be as perplexing as if one of our fuzzbutts were to have done such a thing. I hope she heals easily.

Good luck at the vet. Does the vet have to do anything but give a shot? I used to give our cats shots when needed, it was less stressful for everyone.

HURRAY!!! I’m so glad she’s back home safe and sound.

Which isn’t an issue when one’s favorite tipple is water. I also fill my stainless steel 32 oz mug with ice and water, but it has a lid and a straw so I don’t have to worry about ice doing rude things when I’m trying to drink. Margaritas come with straws, so that’s covered as well

They sell them at the local library. I bought one so I could know when to avoid driving. Following school busses on winding mountain roads is an exercise in patience best left to others.

I do hope you get them resolved soon. Again, we shouldn’t be having this conversation. Quality medical care in the US should be a right not something to dream about.

Oh gosh, what a joy it would be to have a husband want to use the vacuum! I hope the love doesn’t tarnish by this time next week.

Happy birthday Ziva! Keep that smelly dawg in line and out of your bedroom for years after you pass

I love you and won’t forget you. Also, write me into your will so someone calls me to come and get your kittah. You know I will spoil her as rotten as you do

Some people are just meant for each other and its obvious that they were born for each other. I’ve seen their wedding pic (its framed and hanging on the living room wall) and they were managing to glow and blush in black and white

That’s going to be lovely when it grows up a little, please remember to share pics!

QFT. My sister learned to sew as a teen because she was 6’, wore a size 14 on the bottom but had a DDD bosom. She taught herself to combine two patterns when she actually needed a dress ( bridesmaid, HS choir).

shoe, like some of the others have said, you may want to check out ACA policies. I have one that I pay less than $50 a month for. Granted, it’s an HMO, but it does pay for preventative, maintenance and major stuff. If you decide to go with that, I highly recommend a broker rather than the government site unless you plan on getting a second phone (BS companies will blow up your phone before you even hit submit).

Laundry is done. Bonus points for bathing a little reddish dog after he rolled in something stinky while on his leash ( leash and collar were washed for the same reason). Now for chillage.
