(Old) Wassup, doc, in the MMP?

Ditto here, at NFCU. There’s an ATM in the airlock, and I think there’s one by the drive-up window.

30 years ago, when I was on the tender working at Squadron, I could take a 2l bottle of soda to work each day, but we didn’t have access to an ice machine, so I got used to drinking soda without ice; now I always order my drinks with no ice when we go out.

Down?

My PCP is an APRN/DNP. I also have a cardiologist, and a pair of neurologists I’ve seen twice each. Used to see a podiatrist, but he told me I didn’t need him any more. Let’s see – I have here seven pill bottles I use every night, for a total of ten or eleven (variable number) pills each evening, plus another bottle/pill I use every morning if I remember it. And four vitamins for occasional use.

Only two days since Lily got out, but it seems a lot longer. We leaving a window and the back door open in case she finds her way home, and someone Lady SCAdian knows suggested wearing a t-shirt for a couple days and then leaving it by the open door/window to help her realise this is the right house. Worst thing about this is that she’s my favourite out of all our cats. :frowning:

With the discount, the two-pound bags are $17.99 (or $8.99/pound).

I have a pcp, a gyno, eye dr, and dentist.
2 pills daily; Im not counting vitamin D and estrogen as drugs.
86 degrees here today.
More later on the humorous romantic story.

I don’t even have health insurance, can’t say the last time I had anything resembling quality health care.

But y’all just go on with yourselves. I’ll be quietly making friggin’ pizzas full-time while y’all talk about the “cadre of doctors” you enjoy.

Some of us don’t enjoy the privileges you have. Wouldn’t hurt to keep that in mind.

I’m really sorry for Harry’s loss. That’s a long time to be together.

Call some church thrift stores. Some have a medical supply ministry that gives/loans donated bedside commodes, shower chairs, canes, walkers and wheelchairs. They make sure that they are safe and sanitary before adding them to their inventory. When you no longer have a need, you just return them.

Try a spoonful of peanut butter. It usually does the trick for me and I hope it gives you some relief.

Time for the late-night final. Did a little more gym work tonight after dinner, so don’t feel too guilty about the pretzels I just finished eating. 81 Ferret Height at 9:30pm, so glad the AC is ticking right along. between the rain last week and the sun the last couple of days the yard is already looking shaggy again so mowage this weekend is possible. Better be Saturday, Sunday-Tuesday next week are supposed to be wet.

JtC, So sorry to head about Mrs. Harry passing; at least is was quick and (hopefully) painless and in a place she loved, not in some antiseptic hospital room. Feel bad for Harry, 87 and suddenly his life companion is gone; going to be hard on him.

VanGo, yeah, the speed that roofers can re-shingle a building is pretty amazing. Had mine done about 7 years ago and it took about a day and a half.

red, you have more patience than I ever will, glad you did get the referral.

swampy, laundry and mowage the same day! You are a veritable house-irk machine! My only advice is if a dome comes off in your ear, get a professional to get it and don’t go digging for it yourself…the Doc who did mine checked both of my ears just to be sure, she said one patient had 5 of them stuck in their ears… :scream:

Sticky Buns, hope Mom can soldier through and the plumber will have to face the consequences. You can find a ‘pee bottle’ at Wal-Mart that can be configured for women if you worry about this happening again…doesn’t solve the #2 issue, but it might help. And keep making progress on the Progress.

The biggest relief is that it came out with no fuss or pain. The last time I had driven it deep into the ear canal nearly to the eardrum and removing that is the closest I’ve come to screaming in a long, long time. And you mentioning the mail made me recall that I got my second ‘gift’ 2027 Calendar today–this one from the Enviornmental Defense Fund (the first was the Audubon Society). By the end of the year I should have 6-8 of them, so if anyone needs a 2027 calendar just let me know…

Amen.

Herald, I hope that Lily returns soon.

Indeed.

And nearly 10pm. A quick check shows Carolina won the hockey game 5-3 so any disturbances is pronbably just doggio celebrating. Off to bed in a little bit, so I’ll catch all y’all tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 75 degrees Ferret Height(23.889 Centipedes)

I’d be celebrating even more if they could stop forgetting to hockey in the second period.

Indeed.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 11c/52f with a predicted high of 14c/57f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Look on the fucking bright side. It’s only cloudy. At least you’re not on fucking fire. That’s fucking good, right?”

Sticky Buns that sounds like a very busy day for you, I hope everything works out for you!

Exactly! Anything can look good on a stick-thin girlie, but we’re not built like that. It would be refreshing to see plus-size clothes on actual plus-size women who would wear them.

Because you wanted a pretty dress, and it didn’t work out this time. But there will be other pretty dresses - now you know why that particular one doesn’t look the way you wanted it to, you will be better prepared next time to look for something that’s maybe a slightly different shape or cut. Believe me, girl, clothes shopping for women is an absolute minefield!

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs Harry, she sounded like a lovely woman, poor man will be lost without her {{{{{Harry and the Canes}}}}}

Nut I am with you on the ice thing. We have a couple of ice-cube trays in the freezer and I have a little tube thing that goes inside my water bottle for the gym. 'im indoors uses ice much more than I do, most of my cold drinks are quite cool enough without needing extra ice. Ice is for cocktails.

Yesterday was very busy with much report-running and general faffing about with documents. I logged out bang on time and got campus food sorted out, along with a pot of chilli for dinner. Then I had time to feed the cats before I scooted off to the gym for a kettlebells class. That was fun, but very hot. Came home, had dinner, watched a bit more of The Witcher and went to bed.

Today is a campus day so I was up stupidly early and managed to get here without any trauma. I have no meetings and I intend to keep it that way. I’ve got more reports and whatnot to get through so there’s plenty to do. The office is quite full, and we have a couple of people hot-desking from another building so it’s going to be noisy. There will be additional noise and disturbance from the campus activities on the Green Heart which is right outside our office. Not looking forward to that, I have to admit, but I can’t work from home as I’ve got a dept meeting tomorrow that has to be an in-person one. At least I’ve got a pub night to look forward to!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 89 and mostly sunny. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and then have some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup will be grilled chikin, sallit, and cheesey garlic bread cause it’s easy and one of our favorite Summertime meals.

Sticky_Buns hope the plumbin’ problem gets resolved soonest today. Good look with the mountain of progress reports.

VanGo hope the hiccups are gone by now.

red glad you finally got the referral.

Coppertone I am intrigued! I await the humorous romantic story with bated breath.

BooFae happy pub night!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Rah.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Starting with 72 Ferrets and the possibility of rain. I think I convinced FCD that we should postpone our weekend outing (we were going to take some friends out on the river.) We don’t need the stress of trying to figure out what’s wrong with the engine and getting it fixed in 2 days. Plus it wouldn’t be very nice to tell everyone on Firday that Saturday is off. Anyway, he actually agreed!! So yay for that. We don’t have to rush.

And I may or may not be able to continue futzing in the yard. And as I wrote this, the skies opened. I guess I’ll just have to see as the day goes on.

I can drink something that’s cold with no ice, but if I have a choice, I like some to keep it chilled.

The place where we get Chinese take-out gives us a rolled up bamboo calendar if we order any time in December, and it stays rolled up on the counter till I throw it away, always thinking I’ll hang it up. But my “brain” calendar is Outlook, so a paper (or bamboo) one would only be decorative.

I don’t want to start an argument or cause offense, but if we have to filter everything we want to say so that it applies to everyone equally, what’s left? The weather? That’s pretty well covered daily. This thread wasn’t intended to be exclusionary. I was merely thinking about those of us of a certain age who suddenly seem to need more attention from specialists. OK, “a certain age” is exclusionary, but not like a secret club or anything. Just the MMP.

I’m truly sorry that I upset you.

Anyway, Happy Wednesday!

72F this morningtide. We had a hell of a thunderstorm pass through around 0300 last night, with continuous lightning strikes going on. We’re supposed to get another dose sometime later today. It’s interesting to me that the cat isn’t bothered at all by the noise and light show.

Niece visit around noon, which will perk up the wife.

Otherwise, nothing much going on.

Good morning, Wumpers! Here in Elkhart, we’re under a Heat Advisory. It’s 73 F now, and later it will rise to 92F, with heat index numbers over 100F. We have insulating blinds for most of the windows, but that means no sunlight from the windows.

Good morning, all! It was 73ºF this morning and mostly clear. Since the Gulf of Mexico is right there, it was humid again this morning. In other news, the airwater is still wet. We had a good walk. About halfway through our second mile, we were surprised by Fang jogging past us in the other direction. He’s been working on getting his circadian rhythm set so he can start his shift work tonight.

Fang, Squeaky, and their mother and I sat down last night to iron out automobile schedules. On nights they’re both working, Squeaky will take the Highlander and Fang will take the Bolt. Mrs Magill and I would rather not pay for gas to drive down to Murfreesboro during rush hour four days a week.

Last night, after yoga, we discovered that the Tropical Smoothie Café shuts down their food line at eight-thirty. So we just had smoothies for dinner. Mrs Magill had enough points to get a free smoothie, but the young lady couldn’t get their system to recognize it. She was very apologetic, and Mrs Magill tutted her, and told her it was fine. I pretended to get indignant, and harrumphed, “First your kitchen’s closed because you all want to get home at a reasonable time, then your system is making us pay for something we had already planned to pay for anyway. I’m holding this against you.” She giggled. “Because I can hold a grudge.” I explained my philosophy that there’s no point in getting all angry about somethings - especially if it won’t change anything. I’d rather not spread that sort of negativity to other people.

Shoe I really try to check my privilege. I apologize for any offence.

I let it get to me this morning again. I think it’s a GD thing, as my thoughts spiraled. So I’m tackling it from that angle. It still bugs me, more than it probably should, but I’m no longer going down a rabbit hole of self loathing… yay… question mark?

I still want to go clothes shopping, but I don’t think Mrs Magill is there yet.

JtC I am sorry to read about Mrs Harry. The nice thing is that she died sitting with the person she loved. May we all have that blessing.

When Spike went to Freshman orientation, the school gave out academic year calendars as part of the package. It had useful things on it like when resident hall signup begin and exam dates. Mrs Magill has asked some parents of incoming freshmen/graduating seniors to snag her one for this year.

Cookie I hope the visit goes well. I worry about your wife’s mental well being.

Good morning.

It’s 53F, slightly damp, and mostly cloudy outside. We’ll transition to partly cloudy skies by afternoon, with a daytime high of 65F. It became very windy and gusty yesterday, and my backyard and patio are covered with fir tree pollen cones, which are the male reproductive part of the fir trees. I’ll have to bust out the mower and blower today. They are especially bad this year, and the wind did not help. I’d hate to see what my roof looks like.

JtC, I am so sorry about Mrs. Harry. But, as sad as her passing is, I’m glad it was home, having a quiet moment on the porch with her beloved.

Happy pub night, Boo Fae!

Red, yay for finally getting the referral.

I know ice is not a huge deal in Europe. My mother always ordered drinks without ice. I like my drinks cold, but what I really like is putting some ice in the bottom of my ever-present water bottle and filling it with water. It keeps the water nice and cool, especially on warm days. I have a stainless steel water bottle, so the ice lasts a long time.

Cookie, I hope the niece’s visit is pleasant.

Metal Mouse, I’m glad the plug removal went so well.

I talked to my sister yesterday, and my mother is being discharged home in seven days. I plan to visit my mother tomorrow because I didn’t make it there last week. According to my sister, her usual attitude has crept back, and I’m not a fan of that. She is back to demanding things in a most unpleasant way. I am glad she is well enough to go home, though. She is already putting up a fight about exercising more and taking little walks, so I don’t know how long she’ll be there. We shall see.

I did laundry yesterday, but didn’t get to the bedding, so that’ll happen today. Other than trying to get rid of the little pollen thingies and the bedding, that’s probably the extent of my plans.

Please take care of yourselves.

JtC I am sorry to hear about Mrs. Harry.

Hot here in no. Illinois. Rain yesterday made it tropical with hoomidity. Same for today.
The ac has already kicked on and it’s not even 9am. Bad storms predicted for tonight into tomorrow.

Ariel somehow scraped up the inside of her right hind. She was feeling a bit punky yesterday what with the scrape and the heat. I cold hosed her leg, put on antibiotic ointment, and gave her a bit of Banamine which will reduce the swelling and make her feel better. I will check on her later today after I take Ursala Kitteh to the vee eee tee for her arthritis shot.

Morning all. Slept in until nearly 8am and with nothing much on the agenda besides taking the trash bin to the curb tonight, a day of internettin’ and sloth is likely. The Weather Wizards say we’ll hit 90F today, so outdoor activities will be limited.

And have not broken fast yet so a bit of a brunch sounds good about now. Take care all.

Thanks. Comparing time stamps on your post and my phone, you posted that nine minutes after I called Lady SCAdian to tell her Lily had just walked in through the back door. :sparkler:  :sparkler:

{{{{{{shoe}}}}}}

Actually, my main complaint about ice in drinks is the way it works. Heat is transferred from the drink to the ice, which proceeds to melt and dilute the drink. And, of course, the ice takes up space that would be better used to hold more drink.

Which remind me of a song for all you dog lovers.

Currently we have 69 out of 74 ferrets, and a bit of cloud cover (30% chance of rain this afternoon, 60% tonight). Don’t think we’re doing anything outside today, so I can get a little reading done.

Lily is curled up behind me, working on her daily 12-16 hours of sleep after having caused enough excitement and woe to last us the rest of the month..

Once upon a time, I made a brief foray into selling advertising for school sports calendars, golf score sheets, restaurant menus, etc, but mostly the calendars. They showed all of the games (this was back when a lot of schools only had a handful of sports) and school breaks. Some of the small rural schools ordered a ton of them because EVERYBODY wanted one.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I woke up around 0700 and was still really sleepy, so I went back to sleep for another 1.5 hours. I don’t remember when I’ve slept that late.

A couple of phone calls and laundry is on the agenda for the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I’m glad for the return of Cat Lily.

Medical concerns are very much front and center for my lovely wife and I right now. The US insurance system is FUBAR and that’s not okay.

Love to all.
