(Old) Whatcha want on your MMP...izza?

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, dealt with stuff, short version is the Canon is right. We should not be havin’ Communion from reserved Sacraments. The Book of Common Prayer rubric says that in the absence of a Priest, the Bishop may authorize a Deacon to give Communion from the reserved Sacraments. We did get a dispensation from the Bishop once, but it was meant to be a one time thing. TPTB at the church took it to mean we could do it whenever we don’t have a Priest available. So, a miscommunication all around. However, we do have supply Priests lined up for at least the next two months so it is not an issue right now. The rest of the day has been spent in high sloth. We’ve had some tboomers which cooled things down a bit. Also, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

I have read but retained little, so yays, boos, hugs, trouts, noogies, chitlins and how you doin’s all around as needed.

This actually seems to be where Mom is now. She’s just tired and not interested in much.

Today was good, we went to the Idaho State Museum and she really seemed to enjoy herself. I’m really happy she is willing to let me push her around in a wheelchair, it makes it better for both of us.

After the museum, we went out for lunch and squabbled over the check. I won, I’m younger and faster and will use it to shamelessly steal the check out from under an old woman’s hand, LOL!!!

We drove around downtown for an hour and looked at the old things she remembered and the new buildings surrounding them. Then we got tired and came back to my room so she could stretch out on the sofa for a nap. We were thinking about going to the aquarium today, but we will probably just hang out here and go places again tomorrow. It’s too hot to go back out today anyhow.

But from how I understood it the Canon sounded like a hard case. You all meant well so a reprimand was not in order, just a “don’t do it again, see?” And now I sound like a hard case.

Like I said before your congregation and mine should have a race on who gets a new pastor/priest first. We have a search committee set up. What I will pray for is that it doesn’t take forever. We do have an interim pastor though, and don’t have to rely on supply pastors all the time. This guy is pretty good, his calling since ordination has been to be a temp pastor for churches that need one. Moving every couple of years must be a pain for the family though.

Afternoon all. Been out to eat and the shopped at Dick’s with my gift card, still ended up paying about $14 extra.

Isn’t it a rule that whatever one gets with a gift card always ends up costing more than the card?

Aww, thank you!

De nada.

I appreciate the concern, but I was fine: I went grocery shopping right afterwards with no problem. And the bloodmobile staff didn’t care whether any of the donors ate/drank anything. I had to sit on a bench for 10 minutes before I could leave, but a snack was totally optional. I also made sure I was hydrated and not hungry before I left the house.

I cleaned, I napped, I laundered. I even lunched(Spot has some ham, too).

The boy is The Patron Saint of the Perpetually Annoyed(he actually is a cuddly cat, but he has terminal RBF).

Yay!

That’s actually better than the Bell system did in a lot of places(electronics screwed into unfinished plywood, and powered off of a generic $10 power strip)

Happy Sunday!

Beautiful morning at the park. Breezy 66 degrees, I actually got a little chilly while there.
Just us and Barky/Humpy though.
The GR had a great time, and I needed them to wear their little asses out. They’ve been getting the zoomies a lot, and it’s been too hot to put them outside. They are big enough now that zoomies in the house means furniture being moved and stuff knocked over.

I overdid it a little bit by going. My back was sore when we were leaving. It’s a different kind of hurt, but it still hurts.
I’m sleeping better though. I used to wake up every hour or so in pain, and would try to find a comfortable position. Now I’m sleeping for two to three hours before waking up.
I walked down the stairs this morning instead of bopping down on my ass.
Progress!

Yesterday’s petsitting was interesting.
Humpy hates the GR. She went into the living room and we’d hear her growl every time the GR went anywhere near her. Finally, she ran into the family room and squeezed her way between me and the arm of the sofa. I cannot believe she fit her entire 55 pounds in that small space.
We didn’t have to stay long, as my friend’s MIL got home early.
My friend had left us a gift card and cash to have some lunch delivered, unfortunately, I couldn’t get the internet on my phone, so I couldn’t look up any phone numbers. I was just about ready to look up her password off the router when the MIL got there.
I have a data plan for my phone, so I have no idea why I couldn’t get the internet. I think there is something weird about where she lives because sometimes her phone cuts in and out when she is talking to me from home. She lives in the expensive, ritzy area, so you’d think she’d have good reception.
It was so hot when we left. My truck said it was 103 degrees. I needed pot holders for the steering wheel. The pups were miserable, and they rushed right inside when we got home. Usually, I’ll sit outside for a bit with them so they can potty and sniff around. I sat by myself; they were inside laying on the AC register.

I’m still checking out what’s available in real estate. I found another house I like. It’s $10,000 more and is on over a half-acre. But it has just one bathroom, I want two full baths. Part of it is fenced, a small part. It’s a few minutes closer to my son’s job, but further from everything. From the aerial photo there are fields on one side, but some kind of trucking yard on the other. It’s in a rural area, but with more industrial stuff around it. It’s also about 400 sq feet smaller.
I’ll think about it.
Adding another bathroom won’t be cheap, as the house is only 1200 sq feet, so there would have to be an addition. I don’t know how noisy a trucking yard can get. There’s no garage, but several outbuildings, that don’t look in good shape. The oil tank is in the basement, which is nice in cold weather as the line won’t freeze. However, if an oil tank in the basement leaks or bursts, you have a hell of a mess on your hands.

My neighbor told me he had a package stolen off the porch. I looked back through my ring videos and saw who it was. Unfortunately, I can’t see her face because the ring didn’t pick her up until she was leaving. I’m sure she was thrilled to open the package and find a small part for a motor.
I haven’t had any packages stolen, yet. I’m trying to adjust the ring settings to pick up more of the neighbor’s porch.

One of the reasons I don’t like recliners FCM is because I have gotten stuck in them. I’m short and if the recliner is big, I have trouble getting the footrest down.
We must have had some storming last night. A branch from the neighbor’s tree was resting on my fence this morning. One of the boards got knocked loose.
I wish she’d get that tree cut down, it’s half dead and shedding branches.
The work you are doing looks tedious.

I’m sorry about your mom JtC, but I’m happy for you that you get to spend some quality time with her now.
Squirrels will sploot to cool off. I doubt peanuts would hurt it much, unless it becomes a constant diet.
One of my mother’s exes used to feed the squirrels and I noticed one was getting cloudy eyes and losing fur. A vet told me a diet of only peanuts wouldn’t be good for the squirrel, they need variety in their diet.
The squirrels got so bad that one of them would climb the screen to the slider door and swing against the glass to demand peanuts. There were three pairs of blue jays who sat on the railing and screeched until they were fed, too.
I was out on the deck in bare feet one day, and one of the squirrels ran up and grabbed my toe. I think it looked like a peanut to him.
Squirrels don’t really attack each other, but I think they are not friends either. When they are chasing each other, I think it’s not play.
My old dog Mackie didn’t care about other critters, unless it was another dog. Anything could go up and sit next to him. There was one squirrel that would always run and sit next to Mackie when the other squirrels were chasing him. The other squirrels wouldn’t go near Mackie so that squirrel had a safe space to be left alone.

I hope Polar is okay, Taters.

Pilot, I’m getting there. My mother instilled a lot of guilt in me. As the older child, I was expected to know better, and set the example. I always wondered when my sister was going to be old enough to know better. Hell, my mother even yelled at me when my sister got pregnant at 18. I was supposed to have talked to her.
Nobody talked to me and I figured it out.

I hate shopping with other people. I am a get in and get out kind of person.
My mother and sister both loved to shop and OMG sometimes they wanted me to go with them.
They would go out for one specific thing, and 7-8 stores later they have a bunch of bags of everything, except for what they went out for.
However, when on vacation, I want to take my time and relax.
My parents were the opposite, go see one destination and back in the car and rush off for the next one. Probably why I never want to travel. They wanted to cram in as much as possible, I wanted some time to enjoy where I was.

Cute shower curtain Vroom

There sure seems to be a lot of personality in the small package that is Spot.

I didn’t get much done today, I loaded and ran the dishwasher.
I fell asleep in the chair for 4 hours.
I have to go to the doctor for a shot in my knee tomorrow. I was debating going to the dog park, but I think I won’t tomorrow. I’ll rest and take my time getting ready.
I had stuff to get done this weekend, and once again, very little got done.

Funny coincidence. Today I ate lunch in a sidewalk cafe not far from the beach. Steady flow of pedestrians, many in beachwear and all dressed casually under the glaring noonday tropical Sun. In the distance I see a large white man in shorts and a black t-shirt with writing on it coming my way. Figure 6’2", 275#, and a graying chin beard. Formidable. As he gets closer I see the shirt says

    I’m not
    ANGRY
    That’s just my
    normal face.

As he passes I see the eyes of a calm 50-something man lost in his thoughts and a face projecting a potent glare of displeasure.

As a charter member of the “Clint the squint” scowl-face club myself, I got it. Funny to me that this big, kinda scary-looking dude chose a totally disarming shirt. I bet he’d be interesting to meet. And funny that Spot does the same and it all happened today.

Maybe you can get him a cute kitty t-shirt with the same words.

I always have said there are two sorts of travel. “Vacation” is for relaxing. “Tourism” is for dashing about having experiences. Either can be great fun.

Just don’t confuse which one you’re doing with the other. And definitely don’t make a group travel event where the members are not unanimous on which they’re doing. Even if the group is only two people. Either / or; not both.

Taco salads (and hot wings for me) have been consumed. I had two grande Cadillac margaritas. Home now, Mi Esposa is having churros for dessert.

Just saw a couple of otters in the back yard. I took two photos (not very good), but they haven’t uploaded to iCloud yet.

ETA: As I said, not very good.

Evening all. Did manage to get to the gym for 30 minutes of pedaling and 20 of sauna, then had a Burger King Whopper for dinner (but I resisted getting fries, so good on me). Think I am all caught up on my browsing and have the next week’s agenda ready (with modifications as required). So reading the Times and having a go at their crossword puzzle will keep me busy until bedtime.

One modification to the schedule will be due to the check engine light coming on in my car. I’ve noticed the engine was running rough while backing out of the garage, but it seemed to settle down when I put it in drive. Ah well, up early and over to the dealership so they can check it out.

FCM, that’s an impressive amount of work; hope the Board of the school is suitably impressed.

JtC, So happy you’re getting this time with your Mom.

Flyboy, hope the cycle can be worked out And love the otter pics!

swampy, glad everything worked out Canon-wise.

It always seems to be that way. OTOH, I’ve got those gift cards Delta gave me for giving up my seat down from $800 to $17, so even if I toss them now, it’s still been pretty good value (even if I had to spend a night in Atlanta).

Sari, hope the house hunting works out for you. I’ve got 5 packages coming this week per Amazon, so hope they all make it.

Yep, me too.

Pilot, love the shirt the guy was wearing, they are on line, might have to order one.

OK, nearly 9pm so need to curl up with the newspaper and read all the news that’s fit to print. Take care all and catch you on the next MMP.

I’m not sure when I’ll be able to post again, so I thought I’d say goodbye now. I’m all packed except for the stuff I’ll use in the morning. My ride will be here at 7:30, so I’ll get up at 6. That seems so early, which shows how far I’ve slid in retirement. I used to get up at 4:50 a.m.

Both kids called and are doing OK. Daughter and her husband saw Oppenheimer and were suitably impressed. I don’t understand the people who shrug it off but assume they value other kinds of movies. I may have mentioned that my sister’s friend saw it and complained it was “too depressing.” Because of course a movie about the development of the atomic bomb should be a feel-good movie.

I’m off to bed. Big hugs all around, and I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Safe travels!

You are allowed to claim mileage, though.

Pilot, I forgot to thank you for the squirrel info. While I knew that they had a social life, I had no idea how complicated it was.

Congrats, that is always a good feeling!

I sure do get that, I spend more packing time doing things that don’t involve actually packing than I do packing.

That is a big improvement right there, I’m happy for you.

It took forever, but I finally found a recliner that was made for short people. I can touch the floor when I’m sitting down and un-reclining it is easy because my feet are where they should be on the foot rest instead of on the top edge like when I’m in a regular one. I really like it and I’ve never liked recliners before.

Thank you for your kind words, this is the most important part now.

That is one smart squirrel, pretty funny!

So very jealous!

Just a last minute post before bedtime for me.

I managed to sneak in more pizza again today. Things got messed up with the move so it isn’t complete, but my young, studly friend who can lift and push heavy things I’m no longer allowed to handle came over and we rearranged furniture unpacked some boxes and discussed how we will handle the final big load of stuff. Afterwards, we headed into St. Paul and hit Cossetta’s for a mid afternoon meal and some shopping. I had pizza, he went for the chicken marsala. Paddy comes from an Irish/Italian family and is a fellow foodie, so without discussion we headed over to the deli side of the business to get ourselves some lovely treats to get us through the week. You know, hot coppa, braciola, carnaroli rice, etc. We’re doing it again at a different restaurant next week when we complete the final move. It’s been a fun excuse to head out to eat. After I’m in the new place, I have to behave and cook my own food to save money because I’ll be paying rent.

Wot, no otters in Arizona?

My bolding.

Cheaper way, not easier way! The other teacher at my school happened to use the same way, but he was also going to the West Coast, so it wasn’t as bad.

We also will stop into Taiwan for five days on the way back for the kids to do various things, so this was the better way for that to happen.

If I do this again, I’ll book an airport hotel for San Francisco and break up the flights.

Now I’ve been over here for a while, it’s been great!! I’ll write more later!

And I still haven’t read anything in the thread, so appologies to everyone.

I’m not sure when I’ll be able to get back on here, so have a wonderful new MMP, chums!

did they see the Barbie movie before or after? That meme has become such a thing that Cinemark let the manager run it as a double feature this weekend on the Imax screens…

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. See y’all in the next MMP.

They saw the Barbie movie first. That’s so cool that Cinemark is doing that! I wish there were more IMAX theaters.
