(Old) What's the winter forecast in the MMP?

Narrator: “And just like that, Sticky and Shoe were no longer friends.”

Please adopt me.

Ask and ye shall receive. (I genuinely hadn’t seen this yet when I typed ^^ above.)

Yeah.

I heartily endorse this sentiment.

I like your style.

And thus was discovered the mythical fountain of youth.

Dammit, that’s a good joke.

her hair is glorious!!

school picture day never worked well for me. i destroy them as soon as i find them.

Out of my 12 school pictures, the only one I really liked was from 5th grade. And I suppose my senior portrait was nice, but all the rest sucked.

It’s interesting how both grands’ hair are a combination of SIL’s color and curl, but daughter’s straight hair genes make their curls less tight than their dad’s. I don’t think her light brown tresses affected the color at all. Genetics seems so random!! Dominant and recessive and all that (I took biology in high school and I remember a little bit.)

The vet’s office gave FCD a clay heart that has Higgs’ footprints pressed into it and her name on it. Very sweet remembrance.

I just laundered the blanket she used to lay on - I swear, I got enough hair out of it to build another dog…

You know that joke about Mom being cold and making her kids put on a sweater? That’s my life these days. MIL is in long pants, sweatshirt, sweater, under an electric blanket, I’m in a t-shirt, and she keeps asking if I want a blanket. Because at 70, I can’t possibly know if I’m cold.

We’re going to Oxford tomorrow to see a few boats like ours that are having the fuel tanks replaced. It’s a job we can’t do ourselves but it needs doing. So this is a fact-finding trek. And a day away. FCD is at our boat right now taking pictures to show them. Meanwhile, I’m going to find us a place over that way to have lunch tomorrow.

I wore flip-flops and a tank top on the plane. The 1st words out of my mom’s mouth when she saw me wasn’t, “How was the flight?” or “My beloved daughter, how I have missed you,” or even something basic like, “Hello.”

Nope. “You must be FREEZING!”

Hi, mom. Nice to see ya, too.

I remember visiting home and seeing my asshole brother-in-law for the first time in a couple of years. His first comment: “Geez, you’ve gotten fat.” Fuck you, dude.

Howdy Y’all! Been a day of makin’ da cave smell good. First with cake and then with sup. Sup has been eaten and the cake got tested for quality assurance purposes once it was cooled down enough. Nappage and day drinkin’ were accomplished lest y’all think us slack in our RDOS inactivities. Now we are digestin’ sup and in a while there will be cake, 'niller ice cream, strawberries and real whipped cream! HUZZAH!

Sticky_Buns think brown gravy with onions. It’s soooooo good! Unless onions squick you out. Then it wouldn’t be soooooo good. You peopled yestiddy. You deserve to be indoors today.

shoe you’ve got an adopted grandma who feeds you chikin sallit. You must be livin’ right. Maybe she’ll adopt you. I’d make you do dishes.

MOOOOOOM if ever any two people deserve to go away for a while it’s FCD and you. RoxStar is gorgeous, but you already know that! That is a sweet rememberance of Higgs.

Nellie hope your sil can find relief soonest.

Hippie hooray for the numbers bein’ down. Hope the other symptoms go away soonest.

Supper is to be N.O.T. soup, which is simmering away as I type this. That’s the big excitement of this afternoon. My mom get a chairlift installed from her kitchen to her basement. I’d been thinking about getting one here eventually, so it’ll be interesting to see what she thinks. Back to the kitchen with me…

Awwww! How sweet is that? I guess she likes getting her containers back quickly and clean.

It’s so good of you to take care of this without getting FCD involved. That poor man has got so much going on :frowning:

So we outswamped swampie today. I went swimming and then hung my bathing suit up on the drying rack. Then I petted kitties and stitched and smoked for a while.

I heated up some leftover pizza for lunch and we et leftovers for dinner. Sanctuary was made safe around 3, which is when hubs emerged from his room and took a nap. He took a shower and got dressed around 4 which I thought was a waste of time. I’d have just put clean jammies on to save changing again in a few hours.

Jolene is now sharing his drinks. He uses a regular glass instead of a covered tumbler like I do and didn’t use to have problems with cats sharing because he used to keep all cats off his desk. He doesn’t want to just shove her off his desk because she’s just little and he’s afraid she’ll get hurt. He also needs both hands for his game controller so he just yells at her and expects her to listen.

Narrator: She’s a cat. Cats don’t listen.

Entertaining as it is to hear him bitching at her, I’ll probably get him a covered tumbler in the next couple of days.

Somehow I feel like I accomplished both a lot and nothing at all today, work-wise. Heh. At least the day is finally over, and tomorrow is Friday!

My BFFs gave me a Lego gift card for my birthday last month, and yesterday I ordered the Statue of Liberty set (after I did some measuring and figured out how to display it!). It’s supposed to arrive on Saturday. I have no weekend plans other than going to the gym and grocery store on Saturday afternoon, and I’m looking forward to having a new set to assemble. It has 1685 pieces: I might be able to finish it over the weekend, but the build could easily last into next week. I’ll want to have it done NLT Tuesday night, because the cleaners come on Wednesday and I won’t want to risk having a piece get accidentally knocked off the kitchen table and vacuumed.

I’m about to relocate to the living room, where I’ll have dinner (TBD) and catch up on a few shows before switching to the Yankees game on Max. Tonight we could clinch the division! :crossed_fingers: :baseball: I’m also rooting for the San Diego Padres at the moment, because I have an uncle who works for them. He’s in his late 70s and has spent his career with MLB, mostly as a scout – and apparently he’ll never retire, though I’m not really sure what my aunt would do if he were suddenly home all of the time after 50 years! Anyway, most of their post-season hasn’t been watchable without cable, but their division-deciding game will be on Fox tomorrow night; I plan to watch at least some of it.

Not me personally, but two of my cousins had babies on the same day (unplanned) – and another cousin and her husband have exactly the same birthday, which I’ve always thought was kinda cool.

My father’s youngest sibling’s birthday is the day after his; the second youngest’s birthday is 9 days after Dad’s. It was always just such a weird coincidence that 3 out of 6 kids were born in October, until I got old enough to connect the dots that my grandparents’ anniversary was in January…

I know there are plenty of people in the world who share my birthday (though I think the only Doper who does is Czarcasm), but I’ve never come across one IRL. Though I’ll have something in common with Stephen King, Bill Murray, the Prime Minister of Japan, Ethan Coen, Dave Coulier, Rob Morrow, Cecil Fielder, Faith Hill, Billy Porter, Ricki Lake, Luke Wilson, and/or Alfonso Ribiero if I ever meet them – especially the latter two, who also share my birth year.

Well damn! Have they figured anything out yet? :frowning:

Chess has never been for me: strategy? Thinking ahead? No thank you!

Ha! But, better the hot flashes…

You mean that '80s song (1983, by Culture Club).

Rule #3!

Just thought I would poke my head in, and let y’all know that we survived Milton. I’m hanging out here at the mom and daddy refugee camp. We evacuated since we live in a mobile home. The streets are flooded so we haven’t been able to go over and check our property. But we live on an incline so unless something hit the place we should be okay. Just glad to be safe and with my family. Love all y’all. I skimmed really super fast, but I do want to tell you mooooom, I’m sorry about Higgs.

The driver that left me on the shopping trip was on the shuttle this afternoon. It was my understanding that she would not drive our shuttle again. There will be a very firm email tomorrow morning followed by an in person meeting on Tuesday. Feeling a bit hulkish.

In other news I got these for the cats. Amazon.com : Potaroma Cat Toys Cat Pillows, 3 Pack Soft and Durable Crinkle Sound Catnip Toys, Interactive Cat Kicker Toys for Indoor Cats, Promotes Kitten Exercise : Pet Supplies

They arrived today. Both cats went crazy for them! Very big hit. Should you have a catnip cat these are really good.

Grrrrr.

Soup, as usual, was yum. I tossed some shredded cheddar in mine for extra yum! Chillage is now under way. We should have gorgeous weather for our fun day tomorrow. We’re having lunch at Rude BBQ in Easton. I found it while searching restaurants and it seems promising. Hope so.

Back to crochet.

I’ll have a full rack of dry St. Louis spareribs, thankyouverymuch.

dad always said the Middle East could get cold at night in the desert and then hot as blazes during the day but the sand didn’t keep the heat … a lot like here when it finally cools off

I could use a few pounds of pulled pork in a bucket and a fork if anyone buying lol

Whew! If we printed out all the MMP’s ever written, we’d have 1,000 volumes, each as long as The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire. I just can’t keep up!

I’m writing this as I lounge on my son’s sofa with a dog lying precariously on the top of the sofa cushions lining the back of the sofa–not on the frame, just the cushions. It looks precarious, but apparently she does this all the time. I told her she’s part mountain goat. I’d say part cat, but cats are down there with squirrels, rabbits, and, for some reason, Amazon drivers on her personal J. Edgar Hoover Enemies List.

My SIL was discharged from the hospital today. They said she has an intractable back issue and put her on a bunch of pain killers. There’s a surgery for it, but it’s supposed to be hellacious, so her doc doesn’t recommend it. I hope to find out more when I talk with my brother.

And…looks like I’ll be moving when my lease is up on Feb. 28th. . They’re raising my rent by another chunk. It’s so silly. The complex has a LOT of empty apartments–STILL 3 out 0f 6 apartments empty and my lease is up at a bad time for renting out apartments (according to the manager), but sure, chase out yet another tenant. Hmph.

Depends on if you want 'em sliced or stems and pieces.

As a kid, I read a book that had an evil character named Marcia. I thought it was pronounced Mar-SEE-uh and was disappointed when I found out otherwise. MAR-shuh just didn’t sound nefarious enough.

I didn’t know you once lived there! My mom and dad lived in Carlsbad. The weather was pretty consistently gorgeous.

It was, in fact, the '80s. It was a song that got old pretty fast. The song of his that was really overplayed, though, was “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?” After the 26th time, it became a rhetorical question.

Borrow? Do they think Pretzel works for…peanuts?

I had a little aphasia back in my 30s, but it was only on Fridays because I was so sleep-deprived by then. Now it’s a daily occurrence.

Phone! SIL

Ask metal mouse how the beer is. They even have disc golf and a dog park.

Gentle hugs.

Supper at Chez swampy sounds quite yummy!

Hugs.

RoxStar looks so grown up in that pic Mooooooom.

Finished off the irk week and took Nelson to the dog park this afternoon. After, I got a gnawin’ and cravin’ for Whataburger, so’s we hit the drive thru. They even gave Nelson a milkbone (he does know how to work the drive thru window for treats). Now digesting and chilling.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Oh, ummm, well. TIL.

(I’ve known MAR-shuh’s in the past, just never had reason to know how their names were spelled.)

If I were to ever work a drive thru, I would think that giving good dawgs treats was a job perk.

Happy Thorsday!

Today was a PITA and a messy day.
I woke up at 1am and had trouble going back to sleep.
It’s not like me having trouble sleeping, I usually have trouble staying awake.

Nothing went as planned today. Stuff got done, but everything done created more things that need to be done, so I’m even further behind.

I hope a decent night of sleep will make everything better in the morning, we have a lot planned for tomorrow and most of it involves going out and being around people.
