(Old) White Out! The Official Start Of Summer MMP

It was 48° when I got up. This is supposed to be June. WTF???

OK, all the talk of shredding inspired me. I have disposed of old heating oil invoices, tons of BC/BS statements that now come electronically, and assorted other things that were clogging my file drawer.

As I sorted thru, I noticed we didn’t have any paperwork from the purchase of our Santa Fe, then it occurred to me that we got them on a thumb drive. But for the life of me, I can’t find it, so I just messaged the dealer to ask for a replacement or an email with all the documents. At least we have the title.

Guess I’ll have a quick lunch, then head out to attend to some mowage.

Good morning all. Was up early but had things to do and then got distracted on-line by one thing or another (not that it ever happens to anyone else..) so reporting in late. Nice day outside and will shortly prepare myself and head off to the Metro Diner for the main sustenance of the day. Otherwise not much else planned.

JtC, was getting my eyes examined every other year, but started a trend to do them ever year now.

wet one, haven’t laid in something stinky recently, but do need to take a full shower today.

Knots, getting out for any reason is a good thing; I could, if i wished, become a house hermit and I don’t have all that many friends, but I do try with the gym and soccer to do somethings during the week.

VanGo, sorry that the modem went belly-up, was it that complex to manage or did they just make it complicated to bedevil their customer base?

boo fae, I admit I’m envious when you write about making trips to other countries like that. For me, even the ones we share a continent with are 1-2 day drives or 3-4 hours flying for me to get to. Would be nice to see another culture without many months of planning ahead…

wet one, can’t remember if I wished you a happy birthday and can’t be bothered to look it up, so Happy Birthday!!

Ok, getting close to clean clothes and nice shoes time, so take care and I’ll catch up with you later.

Supposed to hit the 90s today and tomorrow, then drop 30 degrees for some rain. Hopefully the rain front will clear the smoke out of our skies.

Finished most of the puzzles, although I’m still slogging through the NYT. I really hate rap artist clues, as I don’t know who 99% of them are. Actually, most clues about music from the 90s onward are problematic. (end old geezer rant)

Pretty much nothing going on today. I know there is a package downstairs. Most likely the panko I ordered, so nothing exciting. Tonight will be leftover skeddy. Maybe I’ll make a small run to the grocery, but I don’t know if I can stand that much excitement.

And so this week’s MMP ends with a whimper, not a bang.

Happy first day of June! I’m not entirely sure how I actually feel about it being June already, but on the whole I think I’m good with it.

The plan for HusbandBFF’s birthday dinner this evening is a “to go” order from one of his favorite restaurants: WifeBFF will place the order when I leave my house, and I’ll pick it up and then head to their place (the restaurant is slightly out of the way, but not significantly). If she were more mobile we’d go to a Japanese steakhouse, which is the usual tradition for his birthday, but these days leaving the house is kind of an ordeal so Misnomer’s Delivery Service it is. I wrapped his gift and wrote out his card this morning, and am all set until it’s time to put “real” clothes on, let WifeBFF know what I’d like her to order for me, and head out. It’ll be a little cool for sandals, but there’s no way I’m putting closed-toe shoes on today – only four days after the toenail removal – so I’ll just have to deal with chilly tootsies.

I have two main sets of friends, my BFFs and another married couple (K&S), and June is a big month for them: today is HusbandBFF’s birthday and K&S’s anniversary, and Thursday is S’s birthday while Friday is my BFFs’ anniversary. (WifeBFF’s birthday is in August, a week before her son’s; K’s birthday is in September, a week before mine.)

I’ve had lunch/dinner delivered for the past few days (using my toe as an excuse) and I’ll be doing the birthday dinner thing tonight, so I think it’s time to get back to what’s in my pantry and freezer for today’s lunch. At the moment I’m leaning toward having a banana, a meatball Hot Pocket, and some popcorn.

That. Is. Awesome.

A similar thing happened to me when I was getting ready to start my current job (two months ago): for the first time I can remember, I wasn’t nervous before my first day. Of course there were hopes that the commute would actually be doable, that I’d like my boss and co-workers, etc., but I had no professional apprehension or worry. After 32 years of full-time employment I was finally confident about my ability to do the new job, learn whatever I need to learn, and manage any level of direct report. It was really nice!

I don’t mind that storyline, but I got through E4 yesterday and am weary of the kidnapping-related flashbacks. I know those scenes likely include hints/key information, so I try to pay attention, but that’s often when my mind will start to wander and I’ll check Facebook or something. I’m also growing weary of the stepson storyline – or maybe just the stepson character. Overall, though, I like the show and will definitely watch the last 5 episodes.

(The only thing I miss from when I had a DVR is that fast-forwarding or rewinding a recorded program was much easier than navigating a streaming program!)

Which I think is appropriate for most Sundays.

Well, the board ate my post, so just know that I’ve read all and retained a little.

Sis and I are really going to town purging. I boxed books up for donation this morning and she’s taken them, donations for the shelter and Goodwill out to her car to drop off tomorrow when we go to my PCP appointment. We’ve taken to writing down what we plan on doing each day so’s we don’t forget crap. :stuck_out_tongue:

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Mornin’ everyone.

It’s 60°F and partly cloudy outside. By afternoon, we’ll have sunny skies and a high temperature of around 71°F.

I’m not sure what happened with yesterday’s post. I typed it early in the morning, but I must not have posted it. I should have deleted it, but I was fiddling with my phone, and I ended up posting it.

I didn’t sleep well again, so at 5:00 a.m., I went back to bed and slept until around 8:30 or so. I need to wash clothes today because my husband is out of socks. I also need to continue the planting extravaganza.

Yesterday, I mowed and edged the lawn, raked rocks out of the grass (before mowing, of course), cleaned out planters and pots, filled some more pots, and scraped moss off pavers. I’ll probably do some more planting and soil amending today.

I read, but didn’t retain much. I hope you all have a great day, or, at least an easy day. Take care!

Speaking of Sell By/Best if Used By dates, when I cleaned the pantry yesterday, in the recesses of a rarely accessed corner, I came across 3 boxes of instant pudding. Two had Best By dates in 2000, so they were pre-COVID purchases. One, tho, had a date in 2007. Like I said, rarely accessed corner. Needless to say, all 3 have been dumped.

But I did use recently purchased instant pudding to make some treats for my sweetie and me. The dishwasher is now washing. Mowage is done. Rollsuck was accomplished. Shredder is back in its corner. I think tomorrow will be convenience center day.

I got a bag of pulled poke out of the freezer, so supper is thawing. And FCD is finally listening to me about eating more. He rarely broke 1000 calories a day, and his target should be 1200-1500. I think he’s realized that he’s hungry in the evening, which is his bad-snack time.

I think part of the problem is he thinks “diet” is something you get on and off. He can’t change his brain to accept that it’s a way of eating, not a period of starvation. But I’m working on him, and it may be getting thru. Finally.

OK, chillage time for a bit.

I cleaned, took out the trash and recycling, and started a load of whites in the washer. Spot had Ultra Zoomies. Watching F1.

Have dined at the Diner, but wanted to feel maximum guilt to get me to the gym, so stopped at a place called Cookie Fix and got 2 large chocolate chip and 2 large chocolate chip w/M&M’s which have been eaten and now I’ll get over to the gym to sweat them out (but the taste was delightful).

On them too, got the 5x5 Ken-Ken and a few of the Acrostics, but like you when they mention singers/celebrities from this century I have problems. Will keep plugging away.

Oopsie, have fun at dinner and…

So Kiki’s wasn’t available? (anime joke)

Red, lists are good things. I need to make a packing list for my vacation (good grief, it’s only 2 weeks away) so that I don’t forget anything.

taters, you’ll have the Lawn of the Year award in no time!

FCM, I’m told (online) that I need 2,150 calories a day given my age, height and weight, provided I live a sedentary life (I’m already over 2,800 today, but Sundays don’t count…). only 1,000/day can’t be good for him, given he’s pretty active around that boat…of course you mention snackage so he may be getting the remaining calories there…

You sure we’re not clones? I love that quote. And if there are any Mumpers who haven’t seen it, here it is (rather describes our current world situation in a way–IMHO). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pzKg7IxhNA

I don’t even understand the instructions for playing that one.

Read much, retained very little. Sprinkles wanted a ride but told me earlier she’d called out sick (she has a bad cough) so short-handed we shall be.

There’s talk of Northern Lights and the skies here are clear …

Hey everyone!

It has been a day here.

We had some extra plant starts that I put out on our gatepost with a FREE sign yesterday afternoon. They are still there!!! Harry said he’s never heard of putting things by the street for people to take and I’m really stunned.

I knew I was moving to an entire different culture, but this is hard to wrap my mind around. Tomorrow we will take them to the library. Library workers are suckers, it doesn’t matter where I’ve been all over the world, if you give them homeless plants or unwanted packaged food…they always find a home for it.

Hubs went out for a ride this morning while I went into a thread trance. I still can’t see well enough to do the detailed stuff I’ve been waiting to work on, but I can do the smaller gauge project I was working on before my eye decided to go on strike.

There was a traveling petting zoo at Foodkitty today, along with a bounce house and free sugar for the first hundred kids. It started at noon and the bounce house was only supposed to be there until 1600, so we went at 1630.

Kids were still bouncing and getting free sugar so I just petted a couple of goats and fed the very fat donkey a handful of grain. We saw a sign advertising five dollar pizzas on the way in and hubs told me that must be for a slice, but on our way out, I pulled a five out of my pocked and received a pretty good pepperoni pizza in exchange.

It wasn’t a great pizza, but better than Papa Johns and the price was right, so that’s what I had for dinner. I offered to heat something up for Hubs, but he was happy with foraging so that meant I could go back to my threads.

I was outside last night and might have seen something rippling in the sky…or maybe not. You will probably have better luck, you will be out later when there are fewer lights on.

That is like the best excuse to indulge that I’ve ever heard!

I had things happen to my post yesterday too. I’ll bet it’s the solar flares!

Like I said…

I’ve told the story before but I used to go to an old-fashioned Mom’n’Pop bakery just loaded w sweet everything assembled & baked right there. Some bread, but mostly pastries, cakes, pies. The aroma was staggeringly wonderful.

Homemade sign hanging on the wall behind the cash register:

My doctor told me I need to lose weight.
So I went to the bakery for a second opinion.

Shoe: good luck w aurora and the short-handed shift!

Well, I’m back after sweating off about 1200 calories, I could have done more but took the NY TImes Sunday crossword with me and apparently exercise is good for the mind because I finished it while I was there, which is uncommon, usually it takes me to Wednesday to puzzle it out (and then often only 90%). So came home and fixed myself some sammiches and chips, but not a big thing, Sunday and Monday are my ‘splurge’ days and the balance of the week I watch the calorie count closely.

Which one? Ken-Ken is basically Sudoku using math and Acrostics is crosswords used to solve a phrase.

JtC, I presume by free sugar you mean candy and maybe cotton candy, I’m glad I’m not those parents trying to get those kids in bed tonight.

I’m hoping for the chance to see the Northern Lights on my cruise in June (heck, it’s only 3 weeks away!!), seen the Southern Cross on two occasions, so I’d like to add the Lights to my (feeble) memory.

Pilot, this is a store, sort of like Crumbl Cookies, but I try only to go there once every couple of months, as I have no resistance to Chocolate Chip cookies. But yeah, I can still remember the local bakery when I was growing up, and the cream-filled donuts I would get if I’d been behaving…

And food and drink having been consumed and sweaty clothes pulled out of the dryer and into the laundry, the rest of the night will be given to some major-league slothage.

Boy did I stick my foot in my mouth before church this morning.

I was coming up to the sanctuary and our pastor was standing there. She recently brought her mother to town to go into hospice, so she could be close.

So I asked her how her mom was doing. I wasn’t in church last Sunday and she looked at me in puzzlement and said “I guess you didn’t hear the news” Her mom had passed and the funeral had already taken place. Eek. I stuttered out an apology and she was very understanding.

Both too confusing for my tired old brain.

Howdy Y’all! I deheathenated online, so I guess that sorta counts. However watchin’ Communion is really not the same as takin’ Communion. We had quality cee-mint pond time. Again it was not quite as hot as usual today. Nappage, day drinkin’ and sup were also accomplished. The biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

doggio I did not MST3K the service, but I did say “bring out your dead!” when the bell was tolled at the beginnin’. I almost never do that when I attend in person.

Cotton Candy, funnel cakes dredged through cinnamon and white sugar or with apple butter (one apple, half a cup of warm spices (cinnamon, allspice, ginger, etc), and two cups of brown sugar). Mountain Dew to wash it all down.

Yeah, healthy eating isn’t a thing at fairs, no matter how small they are.

Yeah, I’d have been mortified as well. I’m glad she was so gracious about it.

Gettin’ boring in your dottage

So, it is almost 2100 and the poor unwanted plants are still sitting out on the gatepost. The hummers are tanking up for the evening, @nelliebly I sure do miss you and hope things are starting to get better. I think about you when I watch the hummers and fuchsia. Thank you so much for reminding me that I could also have one now.

I’m taking a smoke break and giving my hands a break, but then I’ll dive back into my thread trance. I doubt I’ll be up late enough to start the new MMP, you never know with addictions.

I pulled up a weed behind the trash bin today. It was like four feet tall and looked like a giant dandelion, only it had prickly leaves. Anyway, I got pricked. I have a blister on my finger. I knew I should have worn gloves, but I didn’t feel like going back inside to get some.
