Howdy Y’all! Beast got corned and I achieved nappage once I was back in da cave. Sup was various leftovers. Been rainy off and on this afternoon which makes me sleepified. However the rain is gone until Sunday. Now I shall catch up on teh intartoobz for a bit.
And a good early evening all. A couple hours at the gym and a couple of cheese dawgs when I got home were my major actions for the afternoon. I am now back in the house and plan to remain there for the evening, except for a couple trips to the water meter (see below). Got a little bit of rain here, but the Weather Wizards are predicting it’s going to get quite nasty late Friday night/early Saturday morning, so will probably be a homebody for the first part of the weekend.`Will get my Firday shopping done early and be home from the gym before 4pm, so should beat the bad weather…hopefully.
I’ve had a slow leak for awhile, not much, may 2.5 gallons/hour when all the taps are shut off and the toilets are not in use, I’ve been ignoring it since I can easily turn it on and off from the main valve with my key. But it has to be worked on sometime and with the weather getting nicer, I’m going out and getting readings every couple of hours for evidence and will leave the water on tonight (I usually shut it off). Then will call an inspection team tomorrow and schedule a time for them to try and diagnose the leakage. Hate to do it, but really need to get it settled…again. If it turns out to be associated with the major work I had done last year I will be…communicating…with the plumbing company quite seriously…
Oopsie, hope the recalcitrant PM gets his act in gear and contacts you. And 14 out of how many trips to get that tat removed; you must really want it gone… Good luck with the new interview, one of them has to pay off for you.
Cookie, I’d be outraged too. A GS-1 pay is minuscule and won’t make a difference at all to the budget, but the DOGE-ists don’t care, instead of a managed, studied approach to cuts they are acting like Genghis Khan marauders, destroying everything in their path. I hope something an be worked out for her.
Coppertone, keep after them, if need be go there in person to find out what is going on. They are not being very professional about this.
FCM, I do not have steam cleaning on my microwave, or at least I have never seen it there. May have to investigate…
shoe, happy shopping day. Mine is tomorrow morning and I have a little list…I’ve got them on my list…And my furnace filter is inside my house but on the hall ceiling and I need to get a ladder in place to change it, so sometimes in goes awhile without changing too. But if it’s anything like mine, should be an easy ‘take out/put in’ deal that won’t take much time at all. And you should see me going out in the morning; bright red pajama bottoms, a Kent State hoodie. and my Sherman Tank slippers…and if the neighbors want to talk, they can go right ahead! And I’m still waiting on the State of Ali-bama to send me my refund; paid Uncle Sam his money the first of this month.
Concur.
FCM, that’s is unacceptable conduct, whatever the teacher’s reason was, and just glad Tobias wasn’t the subject of her ire.
And time for some ham-n-cheese for the evening eatin’, then internettin’ and readin’ until bedtime, which will probably be earlier than last night. Take care all.
Stories like this piss me off so much, partly because I can’t do anything about the situation. On this can you keep us updated, if you feel like doing so?
go. (I’ve never tried to make this particular recipe, but have tried tofu chocolate pudding at a potluck that quite a few vegans attended. It wasn’t bad) ETA: ninja’d .
I’m hoping that the recent court ruling will help. Meanwhile, hugs .
TGIT!
Irk began a little irritating. The department next door is overflowing its area and parking someone in a seldom used desk, and on days that I’m up front, my desk in mine. The one today had bathed in cologne. I was sucking on my inhaler all day.
My cow-orker and I were called into a meeting with our boss for 45 minutes. The supe from next door had written a lengthy email to the department manager, copying my boss, telling how mean cow-orker and I were and that we were making her people uncomfortable. We both unloaded about all the crap they were pulling and backed one another up. She’s going into a meeting with grandboss Monday with ammo. The supe next door is the same one that jumped all over me when she was in her last department for following my process for transfers. Even her then-boss, who walked in in the middle told her to drop it.
After irk, I took Nelson to the dog park and we went on the big dog side for a change (all friendlies over there and pretty much split 50-50 big-small). A good time was had by all.
We went for a Mo burger after and little girl (who now has her front teeth) got him and herself pup cups. She’s still adorbs!
Up from naptime, having a Jungle Bird and Baked Fried chicken. Spot is back to normal(for Spot levels of normal). I’m watching The Masked Singer, and it’s Ghostbusters night.
My theory: Ghostbusters and Star Trek exist in the same universe.
In Ghostbusters, Gozers says “Choose and perish”, and Ray’s thoughts manifest the form of the Destructor.
In the TNG episode Where Non One Has Gone Before, the Enterprise crew ends up in a part of the Universe where thought becomes real.
The alien who helps cause things calls himself “The Traveler”
*In Ghostbusters, when Gozer comes through the game, they announce “Gozer the Gozerian, Gozer the Destructor, Volguus Zildrohar, Gozer the Traveler has come”
Sometimes your Hello Fresh box gets crushed, and the potatoes get loose. the pototes go farther than the eggs.
Could be worse. Brown switched from ADP to Brand X for payroll, and they fucked up a bunch of people’s withholding, so they had to refile. “Better, not bigger”
Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 2c/35f with a predicted high of 8c/46f and cloudy. Weather app says “Just fucking remember, every silver lining has a fucking cloud.” Well, that’s cheerful for a Friday.
Sounds very good too - traditional Toad in the Hole is really just a giant Yorkshire pudding with pork sausages in it. No reason why you can’t use different kinds of sausages, I used to make mine with either Lincolnshire or Cumberland sausage to give it a bit of variety.
And I am angry on Lucy’s behalf. What an absolutely awful thing to do for no good reason. She’s been doing a useful job that gives her feelings of worth and value. Taking that away from her is cruel.
You wicked woman! I’m surprised he hasn’t taken on the cat trait of constantly going in and out, just because he can, and only so that he can say “Hello, Main”!
Because people can’t be trusted to run it for the full three minutes?
Thank you - lurgy seems under control today, more of a background annoyance than anything else. Can’t have it getting in the way of my weekend plans!
Keeping everything crossed for you!
That sounds like a very trying situation, I’m glad your cow-orker backed you up on everything and your boss is willing to fight your corner.
The Travel Gods were not unkind to me yesterday, but they certainly had it in for 'im indoors! He was travelling back home from just outside Bristol which should be a relatively easy journey. He can either get on a direct train back here or he gets one that means connecting at Big City Station. As I was at home, he was messaging me with updates on his journey. Apparently part of the problem was the Cheltenham Festival so his train was full of drunken plastic Paddies because Thursday was deemed to be St Patrick’s Thursday on the race calendar.
Anyway, his train dawdled into Big City Station so I was checking the rail app to see which train he could get onto next. It took me a while to work out exactly which train he was arriving on, because that information was not forthcoming…but eventually he got onto a train that was running late, and I hauled myself off the sofa to go and fetch him from our home station. By the time I got back again, it was nearly bedtime for me, and treat time for the cats.
I am hoping for a nice quiet day today, I’ve not got anything urgent to do unless someone finds me something that’s on fire. It’s Friday, there’s bound to be something about an hour before we close up for the day.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 59 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 78 and cloudy(ish). I shall head over to the church house around ten this mornin’ to prep veggies for tomorrow’s big feast. That’s the big item on today’s agenda. Shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours. Then it’s RDOS time. Captain D’s will provide sup just cause.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall purtify, though veggies, like corned beast, don’t care what I look like.
And it’s that time again - laundry day!! Plus I get to run to the credit union and deposit a refund check I got from our dental insurance - it seems FCD was over-charged by $25 and some change - cha ching!! And since I’m going there, I’ll probably take the accumulated change from the change-accumulating mug and deposit that, too.
I started the day by putting in a refill order for my seizure meds. On the CVS site, on one page, it said I had 3 refills, on another, it said zero. I know that doc set me up for a year’s worth, 90 days at a time, but when I submitted the request, it said they’d have to contact my doctor. Here’s hoping someone looks at the system and doesn’t have to bother her. In any event, by my count, I’ll get a refill right before we go on our cruise, which is where my concern is. Since we’ll be gone a month, I need to be sure we’ll have all the meds we need.
It sounds like over the next couple of days, the whole country will get its share of a nasty front moving thru with tornadoes and rain and thunder and who knows what-all. My little corner of the world should be hit on Sunday. So there’s that to look forward to. For now, it’s just dreary outside.
Daughter said Tobias didn’t mention the goings-on at school yesterday, but then I don’t know that he ever shares without being asked. It hasn’t shown up in local news sites. I expect she’ll be talking to the kids if she hasn’t already.
Yes, I tried that and his reply was to wonder if I had a secondary man!
The funniest part is that it wasn’t even my glasses that got delivered! Turns out there was a major mixup with the tracking number and it was a completely different package. And… my glasses haven’t even shipped yet!
FCM, I’m so sorry to hear that something like that happened in their school. Obviously, completely unacceptable, but teachers are human and sometimes they just can’t control themselves. I do hope that teacher is no longer employed there and that they get some help for themselves.
Today we’re heading north again for another VA appointment. Possibly after that we’ll go see a movie and do some fun stuff!
Up and at 'em. Sadie has had breakfast. 49F this morning and highs predicted to hit 76F. Then the bottom falls out tonight and the high tomorrow will be 30 degrees less.
Eldest son and his kids will be coming over tomorrow with a bag full of Five Guys. Haven’t seen them since Christmas. His wife has had to go back to Old Blighty again to tend to her very ill mother.
Re: my niece who has been victimized by Trump’s henchmen. I contacted Amy Klobuchar and Lisa Murkowski and asked them to intervene on her behalf, but I’m guessing it’s unlikely that will happen. I’m no longer a constituent of Murkowski, and my Alaskan niece is not Klobuchar’s problem. She could probably generate some publicity over the cruelty being done, though.
Good morning all. Arose early and decided to get the shopping out of the way first thing (besides, I couldn’t have my Big Bowl O’Cereal without milk), so all the necessary shopping has been done and have broken my fast with 4 cups of Cheerios. Not much else on the agenda except back to the gym for more weight training, my upper arms and shoulders are beginning to feel it, which is good, those are areas I want to strengthen, so we’ll see how today goes. The bad weather everyone is getting told about is due here Saturday and looks like it will be around most of the day, so indoor living will be in order.
red (and the rest), OK, OK, I get it, you can make tofu chocolate pudding; but I’ll still maintain that it ain’t right and proper… And sounds like you and cow-orker have the goods (any documentation?) on the annoying supe, hope they learn the lesson (hint: they probably won’t).
Well-played.
Boo fae, I’m planning to take a train from London to Southampton for my cruise in June and then Southamption to Portsmouth afterwards before training back to London and then Heathrow. Glad I’ve built in extra time for that…
FCM, good planning on having the prescriptions filled pre-cruise, I’ll have to check with my Doc on that, he only prescribes 90 days of medication and 1 refill, so I have to see him every 6 months…odd, as neither pill is that massive a need.
Just wondering if there is anyone your family can contact (lots of news websites would probably run with such a story, but it would mean publicity that they may not want).
Back. I had a whopping almost $14 in change, so adding that to the refund check, that put almost $40 in savings. And one less thing on my to-do list.
First load of laundry started and I’ve got the ice maker making ice. FCD is at the boat finishing some wiring stuff. So, yeah, excitement abounds. I had a moment of panic when I couldn’t remember if I’d closed the garage door, not that there are bands of hoodlums wandering our neighborhood looking for open doors. But I had closed it. I think it’s a automatic reflex when I back out, so I don’t think about it - I just press the button.
I got a nice, small head of cabbage at Food Lion and I pulled a ham steak out of the freezer. So supper is planned. This should be a fairly laid-back day.
The one I’m mostly concerned about is the seizure med. I may or may not need it in reality, but no sense in taking a chance, especially on vacation. I don’t think missing my BP meds or Cholesterol meds would cause me to drop dead, but again, why chance it?
Dentist office just called to remind me of my what-was-I-thinking 7AM appointment on Tuesday. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
I was so tired when I got home last night from the barn (kisses, muzzle rubs, neck strokes from y’all were delivered). I had dinner. Stood up and was dizzy. This happens occasionally due to allergies and big ass weather changes. There is a wind advisory starting this afternoon through tomorrow evening. I am staying home today doing nothing. The very definition of RDOS.
Good morning everyone. Nothing’s been happening here, the weather has been wonderful and a tree across the highway went from “that looks different, is it growing leaves already” to “wow, it’s covered in pink!” in three days.
I’m not going to the capital today, my knee is hurting and kept me awake all night. I don’t remember doing anything to it but walking on hard concrete isn’t good for old joints so I’m going to give it a break.
I will probably walk across the highway and take a pic of the pink tree but that will be the height of my activity for the day.
lunch was better on thursday. i remembered to bring in jelly and cheese.
i had a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, with cheese curls (herrs), and girl scout cookies (thin mint).
last year at an expo jif was giving out samples of their new peanut butter and chocolate flavoured spread. it is…okay. i was expecting more like a reese’s cup flavour. it is more of a dark chocolate flavour. i will use up the jar, but won’t get another. i’m more a milk chocolate fan. the ingredients say “cocoa processed with alkali” i’m reckoning on that being straight cocoa not sweetened. it is 15 mg of calcium per serving…so if you are lactose intolerance that could be helpful. Jif® Peanut Butter & Chocolate Flavored Spread
for pi day we have pie in the breakroom. tastykake pies of course.
still not over the tofu incident. this will take quite a bit of various therapies. ice cream, pudding, chocolate, pie, etc.
The wind is already blowing hard here and will continue to get worse through the afternoon. The sky is already tinged a reddish brown. They’re predicting 70 mph gusts, so that’s going to make for a super pleasant day. If anyone flicks a cigarette out the window today it’s going to get bad fast. Firefighters and equipment have been brought in from other states to help in case any fires do start.
Work is almost done for the day, and then I’ve got a tasty lunch (finally getting green chiles!!). And in honor of pi day, a slice of pie shall also be acquired.
Second load in the dryer third in the washer, first folded and stowed. I ingested a grilled cheese sammich for lunch. Still dreary outside. I can’t seem to get much in gear.
I was on the Slide at a reasonably early time, I guess yesterday’s running of 100+ packages by hand didn’t make management happy. I stopped at Teeter for some rainbow trout for dinner. My Girl Scout order was in the mailbox when I got home. Screw Lent, I’m shotgunning a sleeve of frozen Thin Mints tonight!*
Hammered on Mint Julips?
And glad you feel better.
Yesterday it was sunny and 70, today it’s 49 and drizzly.
