(Old) Who, me? I started the MMP today!

Northeast Ohio.
March 14.
74 degrees.

Very pleasant surprise today. FCD stopped at the sail loft to find out what they’d charge for a new bimini top to cover the entire flybridge. We feared something in the $4-$6K range. Nope - lots less! He put down a deposit and it will be done and installed in about 3 or 4 weeks. So YAY!!

Laundry is done.Garage chore is done. Pellet stove is refilled. I think I’ve earned some more recliner time.

Happy birthday, 52!

I am soooo glad it’s finally Friday! It’s a pretty slow one, at that: my interview isn’t until 4:30, and a lot of folks are OOO today so it’s nice and quiet. I’ve finished the interview prep and done some work on the proposal, and I have laundry in progress, but now it’s time for lunch – pizza, of course, in honor of Pi Day – and a break.

It often doesn’t take much to make me happy, and today’s “not much” is that my favorite football club has just released some leisure wear (vs only jerseys)! I’m willing to pay the currency conversion and overseas shipping fees to get something I could actually wear in public over here. I deeply wish the “Harrogate” sweatshirts weren’t hoodies, but ah well. I’m eyeing one of the black silicone t-shirts. I love the one with the iconic Pump Room design, but I wish it weren’t in the middle of the chest. That’s…not good placement for many women.

I get what you mean, but actually there’s no measuring how much someone wants a tattoo gone by how many removal sessions they’re willing to endure. Sessions are spaced out quite a bit to allow for healing in between, and this many of them isn’t uncommon for big/colorful tats (like mine). Plus, after a few treatments there’s not much sense in stopping: you’ll just wind up with a faded/blurry mess.

Tattoo removal is expensive and painful, and it can take a long time: I’m coming up on 3 years (session #1 was in April 2022). At first you go every 4-6 weeks, then every 6-8 weeks, and as time goes by you wait longer and longer between appointments – which always only last for 10-15 minutes. I’m currently at 12 weeks between; I won’t go again until June. But yesterday the tech said that’s probably the last time she’ll treat the black ink: she thinks what’s visible now is actually just hyperpigmentation, which will fade with time – and might even get worse/become permanent with continued treatments. Going forward, she’ll only treat the remaining color. Works for me, because the laser for color hurts less than the laser for black!

I’m definitely at the tail end of this whole thing. Pretty much any time now I expect her to say something like “Wait 6 months this time, and let’s see if there’s anything left then.” Happily, when I started down this road I paid for a “complete removal” package up front, which includes as many sessions as needed (they estimated 10-12): there was an option to pay for just a certain number of sessions up front and any additional ones would be a la carte, but at the end of the day that would have wound up costing way more.

Oh, I’ve used those for years – but I attach them to my lanyards.

:exploding_head:

Could you maybe contact whoever your niece is a constituent of…?

Please be patient with yourself…these things take time, and must not be rushed!

Does this mean you won’t have to juggle the whole Joann’s is closing-where to get the fabric?—will my machine work to sew it?- do I hafta by a new machine dance?

Saw the moon do its thang last night - that was pretty cool.

Nice to have enjoyed the moon the last coupla nights, since the Oracles are predicting storms here tonight, too.

Whelp, time to drag my carcass outta bed, scoop up Sprinkles and head into Long Night. How enthusiastic do I sound?

I did. I got no reply, not even the automated one. It’s probably because the non-Alaska zip code means an automatic rejection.

I was never going to make a bimini, tho we’d discussed another awning option. I will be making the weather cloths, but I already have enough fabric for that. And Joann’s didn’t carry the fabric I needed anyway - I had to order it from a marine fabric site.

And when I took my machine to be repaired, turns out it’s fine - I was doing something wrong, so that’s cleared up.

Waiting for FCD to get home. He said he was on his way 2 hours ago and when I just called, I got a jumbled pseudo-response. No clue where he is or when he’ll be home - no clue what’s going on. I thought I heard barking in the background and he’d damn well better not be getting a dog. That would make me all flavors of pissed.

Whew. No dog. The barking was at the marina. Lots of dogs live at the marina.

Good idea!

Of course I read that as ‘bikini’!

Happy birthday, 52!

Woohoo!!!

Just got home from up north not too long ago. We were starving when we got here, so we were mature and ate leftovers for dinner. Ok, maybe I might have to limit our maturity level since we bought a 6 foot tall purple pinwheel and a tortilla chip puzzle at Five Below.

Anyways, we’re home and I’m contemplating how to respond to an email that I got wanting to know if I’d be interested in a job that I had previously applied for. I think I’m going to say yes and go to an interview and feel things out.

For now, I’m going to sit with the poodle and play games on my laptop.

Afternoon all. Gym has been completed, the pool lanes were full so I did some light cardio and then my weight training, so exercise has been checked off the ‘to do’ list. Will have a Big Bowl O’Sallit tonight along with more-or-less healthy snacks, so have that to look forward to. Glad I got my shopping done early, the stores look even busier than normal for Firday, what with the threat of severe weather tomorrow.

FCM, I know that feeling too, I have even turned back if I am still in my neighborhood to check if the garage door is closed (it almost always is). I try to look over before pulling away, just to confirm I did close it.

Why, you could almost buy a couple dozen eggs with that fortune…

wet one, take care. RDOS time is a good thing.

JtC, a pink tree. That’s neat! And take care of your knees.

52, stay safe and don’t blow away…And a most Happy Birthday!!

Coppertone, that is a bit unusual…but guess we’d better get used to it, I don’t see changes stopping anytime soon.

Oopsie, nice stuff for a League two team…how did you come to be a fan of theirs?
And glad the end is in sight for the removal to be complete.

Sticky Buns, best wishes for the interview.

And time for some TV watching, so take care all.

Would reworking the tat have been an option?

Happy birthday 52! :birthday_cake:

Abode is cleaned, laundry done, groceries bought and supper et. The big plan for the evening is to work on some Xmas cards.

Earlier in the week, Nelson got excited to see the next door neighbor poodles and knocked a flower pot off the plant stand. Since it’s iffy whether the plants in it will survive, I picked up a pot of tulips to replace them and left a little note from Nelson and me to accompany it. I hope that he likes them.

I looked at summer bedspreads online today. The old one is now stained (one of my sister’s dogs had travel tummy on it) and, while it is clean and usable as a blanket (cotton waffle weave), I want something without stains as a bedspread. I found one I liked at Macy’s, but want to see what Goodwill and City Thrift have tomorrow before I order it. I may find something better for less.

Daughter got an update message - the teacher involved in yesterday’s incident has been fired. The school is working with CPS and the sheriff dept to investigate and resolve the matter. And they’re looking at adding cameras to their security system.

She and I feel like it’s being handled properly.

Happy birthday and thank you for the suggestion.

I also don’t want hubs getting tick bit, poor Van Go is still suffering from his bite. He got out and mowed the grass today. That made me sad because there little tiny white flowers growing in it and it has no more character left.

Bad KITTY!!!

Coffee and chocolate are sacred, don’t do that!

Oh, that is very disappointing. I wonder if he can’t say anything until after the background checks are done?

How big of an area was your tat? I have one that I’m no longer in love with, it is a small flag colored eagle on my inner arm. I’ve protected it so well that it still has 30 year old white ink showing. trump took my flag away and I don’t want to risk people thinking I’m maga by showing it in public anymore.

Oh, I used to clothesline myself with my knee hole drawer on a regular basis. I had one of those retractable thingies and managed to break three of them in a month by getting them stuck in self-slamming doors so finally I bought some elastic cord and made a lanyard too short to catch in a drawer but stretchy enough to use while going through doors.

Cruelty is the point. That is the only reason the USA is now an un-trusted third world country. The haters have won because too many people didn’t care enough to do anything (like vote) to stop it.

I’ll bet that’s programmable and that you can change the wording to a certain degree. Wouldn’t it be fun to change it to “Main Man Enters”?

That’s for probationary workers only. The courts are starting to wake up, kinda.

That’s our fuzzbutts all the time!

Oh NO about the kitty litter, that’s unforgivable!

You are supposed to change the filters monthly, but that is also something that your rent should cover. It makes the furnace live longer which is something that most property owners like. Ask the landlord to reimburse you for the filters or supply their preferred filters instead.

I’m totally lost about the bird calls here as well. Well, except for the hummers and the quail, they sound exactly like they do in AZ.

I tend to strip myself after stripping the bed…well hours later once the bed has been remade and so I can get into the shower. There is nothing like slipping clean and nakey into a freshly changed bed.

Last night I noticed a small (less than quarter inch) tear in our bottom sheet up under my pillow so I also stripped the bed and then mended two small holes before they became big ones. I marked the tag to remind me which end goes to which end (we won’t notice the repairs down by our feet) and put them into the washing machine. I’ll be putting them back on the bed so I can check to be sure the repairs held tomorrow, usually I like to let things “rest” between uses.

We won’t be sleeping on paper thin sheets covered with patches, I’m far too spoiled for that, but I will repair/reuse as I can. I’ve always been a tree-hugger.

She is past early retirement age and can easily learn how to make copies at the local hospital. Hospitals depend on volunteers do that sort of minutia because they can’t afford to pay someone to stuff envelopes for hours a day. Volunteers are cheaper than machines and are so appreciated.

I really doubt she will get her job back, at least not in time to help her so try to lie to her. Make this a positive thing, she RETIRED and can spend her days volunteering petting dogs at the shelter if she wants.

That is so sad. People are upset and scared and tempers flare at many wrong moments nowadays.

NOOOO!!! Not again?!?!? That sucks so bad, especially considering how many times you’ve had those same issues in the past.

I had to go and look at mine cause it is new and it wouldn’t surprise me to find that button. Nope. I guess I’ll have to continuing to do it like a Philistine and use a coffee cup full of water.

Howdy Y’all! Veggies got prepped and I went by Captain D’s on the way back to da cave and got fish ‘n chips for us to snarl down. Then nappage and day drinkin’ were achieved. Tomorrow at noon we start the veggie cookin’ marathon. Festivities begin at five-thirty p.m. Looks like we’ll get rain late Sattidy night into Sunday mornin’. As of now it appears we won’t get any nasty storms, but that is always subject to change.

And now this…

< AHEM > CLRARIN’ THROAT < AHEM >

HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY DEEEAAARRR 555222!!!
HAAAPPPYYY BIIIRRRTTTHHHDDDAAAY TOOOOOO YOUUUUUU!!!

My folks do this thing of mowing around the pretty flowers, they almost have portions of the yard that are meadow. I kinda do the same thing, like if I see a thistle plant coming up, I’ll mow around that, and I let the bluets do their thing.

Ok, less than a week of full on get the boat done left. Most of it is on wheels now, it goes on a truck on sunday and delivered on monday. Then a couple of days of making the parts fit together properly… I was perhaps foolish to agree to build a very large boat that had to fit through a very small door. I will be soooo happy once this is over.

A bit bittersweet, as it is the end of my company, but I do have a landing spot.

Happy birthday, 52!!

Metal mouse Good grief with the water issues.

FCM Glad the teacher got fired, that sort of behavior is not acceptable.

I feel the same way. Stopped flying my flag years ago when it was usurped. Didn’t want anyone to mistake my house for one of theirs. I drug it back out a week or so ago and hung it upside down in my big picture window facing the street. It was the Canada/Greenland stuff that was the last straw.

I was so excited to see it in hopes it might help @Chefguy’s niece that I didn’t read it all the way to the bottom. Mea culpa.

The idea of volunteering at the hospital or petting the animals at a rescue is a great idea. Often public libraries have volunteer slots that might work too.

Right and right again.

Some of the snazzy hypoallergenic hepa filters, like the 3M Filtrete ones last for 3 months. Those are what I use [when I remember and that’s a B I G when].

Hard to imagine RDOS bears snarling. Maybe another anti-malarial potion is needed to quell those snarls.

They’ll come back. I’m guessing white clover and there will be some more that bloom again before the next mowing. If it is clover, it’s good for adding nitrogen to the soil.

Shoot, more of us voted against him the first time around, but the electoral college put him into office.

And when you are no longer using them, they can go to the shelter to use for bedding or cleaning rags and you’ll have done a good deed X 2.

The maintenance guy came by just after five and snaked out my commode, then replaced the innards. Hopefully, that will take care of things.

Got the bases and backgrounds cut for the Xmas cards, then did the ink work. next will be the die cutting, then coloration and finally assembly. This set began as a set of seven, but quickly changed to a set of ten, since I went with fun folds for four of them.

I managed to get across the highway and take a pic.

Imgur

That really looks like a magnolia to me. I’m so excited, I can’t wait for it to fully open and scent up the neighborhood.

Everyone likes tulips, I think that you are a very good neighbor!

I would like to leave the back yard to turn into a meadow and would even toss local flower seeds around. Hubs used to ignore the yard and let me deal with everything before we moved and the body snatchers got him. Now he not only mows our yard, he mowed the next door neighbor’s yard today. At least that keeps him out of the pool halls.

I do understand the bittersweet feelings, but you have landed in a very good place and it is time to move on and stop hurting yourself!

I knew you would understand. I can’t turn my tat upside down so I will just hide it or have it covered or removed. Probably removed, I can’t think of any way to cover or use it in a different pic.

That’s what retired people do. They volunteer where they can make a difference and I’ll bet that Lucy would love being part of the library or volunteer community. Back when I was working at the library, we celebrated our volunteers birthdays just the same as we did the paid folks. We loved them so much that we were happy to spend our own money to buy cakes and cards and decorate.

I’d like to think it was clover, but it sure didn’t look like the white clover I used to baby and water back in AZ. It was so good for the soil that the weeds would try to take over every year.

And who voted for them?

Le sigh.

What? Are you suggesting that I give away my perfectly good cleaning rags? HA!

I’m glad you got your pipes snaked and innards fondled. Hopefully that will solve all of the problems.

Besides a day of high sloth, we also celebrated Pie day. I ordered pizza for lunch and made a quiche for dinner. I haven’t made a quiche since we moved here and hubs forgot that he liked heating them up for breakfast. Silly man, eggs, ham, cheese and green stuff, what could possibly be better for a low carb breakfast?

I went for a swim hoping that it would help, but now all of my joints are aching and I’m wondering if I’ve managed to come down sick with something. That would suck, I’ll lose the high ground if I come down with something I’ve been vaccinated against and I’ve been vaccinated against almost everything.

My doctor changed my thyroid meds and added something to stop the restless legs the meds were causing, so I think I will blame that instead. I’ve just learned that there are vaxes for bird flu and monkey pox so I guess I’ll make my doctor order them Monday.

I laundered. I napped. Canes won the hockey game. Dinner was lemon pepper trout. rice, and blackeyed peas

I sort of pull for Arsenal because A. the HHGTTG(What, Arsenal without a chance?), and because one of my favorite taprooms is an Arsenal bar.

< crosses fingers >
And poodles and games are always good.

For once, yeah.

I frequently get mistaken for Canadian. This administration makes me happy about that.

I’m Going to Let A Wino Decorate Our Home(Heard on Sirius today)

We went down the beach for dinner yesterday. I had half of an 8-ounce burger with cheddar cheese, bacon, and avocado. (Yes, I paid $24 for a cheeseburger.) The Spousal Unit had half of a Korean fried chicken sandwich. We both had salads with lemon-and-oil dressing. Tonight, we traded sandwich halves (burger for her, and chicken for me), and had cottage cheese as a side. I liked the burger better.
