(Old) Who's thinking about summer plans in the MMP?

Up from naptime, having a Manhattan and some Redneck Stirfry. Spot is battling an ice cube in the living room.

I  this.

Some days FUBAR is the best case scenario.

Like nettie’s Buddy.

One Dollar Tree I ran had to do front door loading, so there was always the problem of toddlers sticking their hands between the skate rollers on the extendo roller just as 10 cases of water were coming down. Mainly because Corporate didn’t look at the plans that showed the door to the warehouse in the back was set 20 feet back from the street. And 10 feet above street level.

But unlike lesser creatures, he is a dignified nuts.

150 miles? :open_mouth: I’d want a nap, too.

Nah, 55ish so far.

Yes, and I took them at their word. They do not have it.

I don’t expect a company to continue to manufacture a drug just for me, but I was hoping there were enough others to make it worthwhile. Sometimes I think I must’ve been Mussolini in a former life to have racked up this much instant karma.

Did not see mister stray cat today, but it was raining pretty hard when I got home. Looked around a little later, still no sign of him. I’m gonna start calling him Brian, if he shows back up. As in Brian Setzer.

And time for my Late Night Final. Soccer practice got rained out again, I don’t think I’ve ever had fewer practices than this season, and the Saturday games might be rained out too. Makes it hard to concentrate on coaching when I can go 1-2 weeks without seeing my players. Ah well, weather is predictably unpredictable… Got my exercise in and am managing my calories pretty well, so weight has stayed around 200lbs for the past 4 months, which is good. Otherwise a fairly dull day.

And now to scroll, scroll, scroll the Dope, gently down the page…

FCM, I usually service my car between 6,000-7,000 miles and since I usually drive only 450+ miles a month, it can be awhile between maintenance stops. Car still is performing well and has less than 80,000 miles on it.

Dicey, interesting story on the Tuscon, not sure if I am ready for a car smarter than me…

flyboy, hope the dental office is on-time, an hour should be enough, but ya never know…

Cat Glove. glad you got something scheduled. Except for train tickets between Southamption and Portsmouth, I think I am all set for my June trip.

JtC, I don’t think I have ever been scared of bridges; have you ever discussed it with a professional (It’s apparently called ‘gephyrophobia’. Just a hint, if anyone ever invites you to go visit the Royal Gorge in Colorado, run away, run away!!

Most of my gym sweating is after 30 minutes on the treadmill or bikes; I seldom get too sweaty doing weights.

FCM, most of may packages end up in my mailbox, or next to the garage, so far I’ve managed not to have a rainy delivery, don’t know what would happen then…

It’s ‘F’s’ all the way down..

enipla, I hope you can do that trip sometime in the future, it sounds like a great one.

Crazy doesn’t even begin to describe it, bring Tylenol and beer…

swampy, I have four ‘dress’ slacks, they are the only things I still take to the dry cleaners, not planning on getting anymore.

nellie, glad the APAP adjustment is coming along. Good luck in finding the medicine you need.

lily, I walk about 3 miles on a treadmill and I’m done. You go, girl!!

And apologies to anyone I missed, it’s now after 10:30pm and I’m a bit weary, so off to bed for some reading and pudding-eating, so catch y’all tomorrow.

Up, caffeinated, and shevled. Off to heave.

He struts about?

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 87 and N.O.S. We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and go assist with cleanin’ up the the kiddie spaces over to the church house around threeish. OYKW volunteered to help even! We will attend the Wednesday doin’s so that takes care of sup. A busy day ahead for us!

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. The sheer bother of it all overwhelms me.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Do the parents have to pay for their kids to participate? If so, do they get some sort of voucher for another season? I’d surely be miffed if I shelled out more than a token amount for my kid to play but the weather screwed it up.

Our truck rarely gets driven - it’s been that way for years - so I asked Paul about routine maintenance. He said one oil change a year is fine, so it’ll go in next month. It’s just barely cracked 77K miles - not much for a 2009 that we bought in 2010 with 10K miles on it. We paid around $13K, and I bet we could sell it today for that much, if not more, prices are so crazy…

I’m not scared, but eons ago when we lived in the Jacksonville area, FCD and I were driving over the Hart Bridge and we both got this weird feeling at the same time. Not sure what it was - not exactly fear, but a sense that something was “off” - strange that it hit us both at the same time…

We had some really heavy rain overnight, but it’s calm and rain-free at the moment. Forecast includes showers this afternoon and t-boomers overnight, then nice (bordering on hot) thru Sunday. Saturday is the opening-of-the-season picnic at the marina and Sunday is the Spring Fling car show in Leonardtown. So our plans are made. I need to break out the sunscreen for Sunday - neither of us need burns.

And I need to run to Aldi and Teeter today. Luckily, they’re practically across the street from each other. I’ll go after FCD gets up and I shower and dress - that should get me home before the next round of sky water. That’s as far as my plans extend today.

I need to start planning to eat our fridge down so there’s minimal stuff in it while we’re gone. We don’t need to come home to a bunch of spoiled food. I’ll make sure Daughter clears the more perishable items when she comes to check on the cat and bring in the mail. Jellies and pickles will be fine - lunch meat and produce, not so much. Frozen goods will be fine. I’ll just do a shop when we get back. I also need to be sure she’s got enough cat food and litter. Time to start making lists - we’ve never been gone a full month before.

Are eggs getting less $$ for anyone else? After getting up to more than $5/dozen, they’re down to just under $4. I’m wondering how low they’ll eventually go - I don’t expect them to drop to where they were pre-bird flu. Not only do the producers have a big deficit/expense to recover, but with people accustomed to really high prices, they may find $3/dozen to be a good deal after all. I recall similar pricing when fuel shot thru the roof and a surcharge was put on all sorts of things. After fuel came down, other prices didn’t go back to where they used to be. That’s life, I suppose.

Anyway, that’s the start of my day. Caffeination continues, FCD is still abed, and I have surfage to attend to.

Happy Wednesday!

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/66f with a predicted high of 20c/68f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “Calm your tits, it’s not that fucking bad outside.” Very true, it’s sunny out there and looks very nice from in here.

I had a reasonably busy evening last night - logged out of irk and went to make some food for three days on campus. After that, I cleared up in the kitchen and decamped back upstairs to wrap birthday stuff for 'im indoors ready for his Big Day on Sunday. I managed a little bit of sofa time before it was time to construct dinner so I put some chicken in a spice bag in the oven and made some salad to go with it.

I was in bed by 11pm and wide awake at 4.30am which did not make me happy. I got out of bed just before 5am and got my day started so I was out of the house by 6.30am and on the bus. The Travel Gods were capricious but not vengeful today so I was here by 8.30am. Busy morning although I don’t seem to have achieved very much. My friend has emailed to say that they are both fine for the pub tonight so I’ll be seeing them later. We have decided to go to The Bell at Trysull tonight so hopefully we will be able to see the bats flying around the churchyard next door.

Exactly. Mr. brown has a phobia too - he’s frightened of/disgusted by pit toilets and would hold his poop for days rather than go in one. So you’d think he would understand.

I had another episode yesterday. We went out for our daily sightseeing drive, and I was the driver. I drove us north from Bodega Bay to Jenner, which went fine. Then I foolishly opted to keep driving north on Highway 1. But we hadn’t been on that stretch in years, and I had forgotten that this coastal route becomes very precipitous and steep. I did okay for a bit, but then a straight-up-and-down switchback finished me. As soon as I could, I pulled over and switched with Mr. brown. Even then, I as shaking and trembling as we continue northwards to Fort Ross, where we turned around and made the same trip back - this time with me on the cliff-ward side! I closed my eyes, clenched my fists, and practiced deep-breathing during the most radical stretches.

We’ve driven on many a mountain road in our lifetimes, and it never bothered me until this week. This new phobia is going to put a crimp in our post-retirement traveling, if it involves mountain driving. So far bridges are okay, but the Richmond bridge is a little more iffy than the Golden Gate. I suppose it’s because you can see the ocean on both sides and the roadway goes up and down.

Great name! (but does he strut?)

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. A bit more adulting today with the :snerk: STD folks. I’m so tired of this crap!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Exam, X-rays, and cleaning. I think it usually takes about 45 minutes. If it goes long, I have a couple of days to make up any time. Actually, I irked off the clock yesterday since I was waiting for a program to finish running; so…

ETA: Speaking of programs, I’ve posted on our local FB group, asking if there’s anyone who can convert my Easytrieve programs to Python and teach me how to run the Python programs. My company might spring for that.

Sure!

Again, my Wife did the planning for this.

The basic layout was that we would spend 3 weeks in southern Germany (Bavaria region). And do all our travel by train. Now, we have never done such a thing. We had to plan on very light packing as we where traveling every three days or so (hoping on and off trains). So wash your undies and socks in the hotel sink as soon as you got there so they will dry. We only spent about 3 days in any city/town.

We tried to visit as much old/medieval Bavaria as we could. Castles and walled cities. Very cool stuff. Little museums. Now some of these places are sort of tourist traps, but, thats ok when you get to visit a 500 year old castle.

We spent a few days in Munich. The only big city we really visited. We rented bikes at a train station and road to the English Gardens. Rode around there.

We spent a couple of days in Austria which was very cool.

The trains where absolutely great. On time to the minute. Very comfortable. But we did have the sort of first class tickets. But do not bother getting a private sleeper cabin. I had to try it though. My wife and I hated it. I think this was a trip from Austria, to Frankfort.

  • We did not do B&B’s but very small local hotels. Worked great.
  • The sauerkraut was not what I expected, it was sweet. The pizza was great (they border Italy)
  • Most folks speak enough English that we could understand. And I tried to learn German before we went.
  • All in all the locals where very helpful and pleasant. Germans have a VERY dry sense of humor.
  • Breakfast was interesting. Lot’s of meats cheese and bread. I think it’s because the train is used so much that people can get a sandwich and eat on the train.
  • Beer at 10am? No one would bat an eye. They are VERY serious about their beer. Special glasses for different types.
  • You pay to use the bathroom, but they are sparkling clean. All in all Germany was very clean. I think that the bathrooms where free at beer gardens

I think that’s enough for now. I had always wanted to go. My wife did this for me with out my knowledge, even calling my boss to see if I had enough time off. She did this partially as a thank you for being her sherpa at all her IronMan races. She sprung it on me after her last race.

We make a good team.

Yes, they pay a fee (It’s $70+a $25 national fee, plus the cost of the uniform if they don’t have one from the previous season). As for vouchers, refunds, that’s up to the board, if asked a think a discount might be in order for the fall season.

I’m about a month out from my cruise, so I need to do the same and watch it on perishable stuff.

I think we’ve all had those mornings, it seems we are in a constant rush and things are moving, but when you stop you haven’t really done all that much…frustrating it is.

The noise you may hear is shoe going ‘eeeeeeee’ in delight…

{{lucky}}

enipla, that sounds like a wonderful trip. And that wife of yours is a keeper for sure.

Well, I’m more or less conscious this morning, bladder got me up around 6am then went back to bed until 7:30pm (benefit of being a RDOS) and am now lazing the morning away, just had my morning apple. Only two ‘must do’ jobs on the agenda is getting gas for the car and putting the garbage bin out at the curb, but otherwise just a slothful day at Casa Rat. Rain is gone for the moment, it’s 68F heading to 82F later so of course the day of the week I don’t have soccer practice is the day it is nice…

And onward!

I give up~what does STD stand for?

That is quite the nap. 13-1/2 hours beat my personal record by a LOT.

I do have to learn to edit…but I’d love to try and stay in bed that long (without being extremely ill, that is…)

Look who’s learning to write!!
Imgur
I do love his school!

Today I am doing little errands that I’ve been postponing. And looking forward to it! Y’all know how much I love Ariel but having to administer eye ointment every night is wearing me out. Lined up someone to do it tonight and I feel free!

It was one of those FUBAR days. I was on the 300 Table, then pulling for Top Redd, then they sent me to finish up the 300 South Bottom Blue set. Oh God. They looked like they had been loaded by a blind person with the DTs during a 7.4 on the Richter Scale. I did what I could. Then the computer in Irregs crapped out, and the Irreg clerk didn’t have access to ERA on the 100 slide computer(but I do ). So there were a bunch of big things they were trying to get out. Then the Supreme Shouting Officer grabbed all the members of management and dragged them of to..Sing Kumbaya? Do underwater basketweaving? Probably nothing good. I was gonna get gas on the way home, but all the pumps at the Exxon were out. Not a big deal, I’ve still got 10-11 gallons left in the tank.

The only bridge that made me nervous was the Verazano Narrows Bridge(228 feet above the water)

$3.94.

82 and humid at 1030A.M. is not great.

So you’re saying the pastor has bats in his belfry?

That “G” looks better than mine.
