The gasoline spill shoes are totally cool but not really me. I have the same shoes in matte black, though, and have gone from not being so sure to absolutely loving them. I still think they look a bit clunky but I’ve had them for a few weeks and I swear they get more comfortable every day I wear them.
You people with hard to fit feet have my sympathy, I have hard to fit everything else. But in shoes I usually wear a 5 1/2. Sometimes a 6. My Danskos are 36. One issue; I can’t wear heels, really. The Professionals have as much heel as I dare go for. Finding women’s dress shoes that don’t have heels higher than I can wear is an interesting challenge.
For something so tall, these are unbelievably comfortable since they have this memory-foam padding in the bottom. I wore them for 8 hours straight at a party a month ago and felt (and looked) fabulous the whole time.
Would you believe I bought 8 (yes 8) pairs in the last two days? All of my work shoes are dumpster ready, so I was in dire need. And I had quite a run of luck at the local Marty’s. I have a hell of a time finding shoes, so I bought a couple more pairs than necessary, because if I go try to buy more in a few months, it’s virtually certain I’ll find nothing at all.
It is a very boring collection of shoes, but I’m thrilled. (a couple of the following aren’t for work, obviously)
I’m 5’10" and absolutely swear by Eddie Bauer talls. Their pants are really long and they often have things in tall on clearance. Shirts are great, too. Their stuff is really high quality, much more so than Gap, though I like Gap tee shirts, again on clearance.
I have the non-gasoline spill patent leather Danskos and they fit fine and I have really wide feet. I’ve actually found that their normal leather ones are a bit narrower than the patent ones for some reason.
Holy shit, I want these! I happen to have my wallet right next to me at the moment, and will purchase these shoes as soon as I’m done typing this sentence.
Speaking of Danskos–I’m so jealous of you all who can wear them! Danskos and I just don’t get along. They fit me so well, too. 6 pairs. 6 failures.
When I’m walking in them, I sometimes kind of fall off the platform. I’m not sure why I do this, but I’ve twisted my ankle more than I’d like.
And I break them! I’ve had 3 pairs of the regular clogs with backs. In all 3, the plastic thingie behind the heel broke off. I’ve had 2 pairs of sandals. In both cases, the footbed peeled away from the sole. I got a pair of suede mary janes with a different sole shape. They wore out and broke so fast!
They’re shorter than I usually wear, and also not a color I’m used to (all my shoes are black or dark brown). But they just looked so cute. I have no idea what to wear them with.
