I have only one question. Why are people getting mad at vunderbob for his Canada comment, when the person to whom he was replying - Reeder - made the first such comment by using half of his reply to ask an equivalently snide question about Bob’s (supposed lack of) military service?
The OP clearly states the color combination is “unfortunate for the message bearer”. Says to me that the message bearer (i.e.: the owner of the vehicle) isn’t a coward. As to how “approprirate” applies here, I don’t know and neither does anyone other than the OP unless y’all have suddenly become mind readers.
I was a front line soldier in the KISS Army!!!
Maybe the printers were running a special on yellow construction paper. Anti-war folks sometimes have limited funds, ya know.
Hey, here’s an idea. Maybe the OP meant “appropriate” as a sarcastic comment? Something along the lines of “appropriate…NOT!” Or is it more fun to just assume the worst and pile on?
Or just maybe I read something posted and take it as what the OP meant. Silly I know. Funny how you know what the OP meant with “unfortunate”. When I take the same liberty with the word “appropriate” I get delegated to the ranks of sideshow mentalists.
Monty, Reeder, and Sezyou thank you for your service to your country. That said, feel free to pound sand at any time.
Did anyone consider that maybe “appropriate” should have been “inappropriate”, and this was a typo? I’m not the greatest typist in the world.
Not when it appears in the thread title AND the OP, no.
Care to do any more back-peddling?
Like most people, I generally don’t spend a lot of time guessing what words a writer may have intended to use other than those written.
The instance in the title was intentional because it was a hook. The second was not.
Well, the OP is absolutely stupid, but it did get “Coward of the County” running through my head, and I love that song. Maybe that was it’s true purpose after all.
Oh…thanks a lot Zette…
WOW.
How many people cannot read and simply want to argue ?
Why are you all debating a post that was very clear, and direct in it’s message ? I’d cut and paste it here for you all to see but it’s embarassing.
Vunderbob saw something he did not like, he then came here to post about it. He points out what he feels the sign meant, and why the colours used were in fact used… And you all debate the meaning ?
Jesus wept ! What else has to be said before you A: Understand his post, and B: Respond in an apropriate manner ?
As for my own point of view. I never served in the military so I do not feel I have any comment to make. I personally believe that the only people who have any real opinion about war, are those who are in the military, have served in the military or are involved in politics. Everyone else is relying on somebody else to change things or make things occur.
Myself included.
Logic.
Miss Read is the name of the bitch that poked you in the eye, so that you thought GusNSpot’s name said GuNsNSpot, and caused you to bump into Miss Understanding.
Well, vunder: You and Gus can both go pound sound. After all, I’m retired Navy and the Navy’s colour combination is Blue and Gold (<==i.e, yellow). Last I checked, the Navy’s not a coward.
What back-peddling? None of his four posts in this thread clearly indicated that he felt the owner of the vehicle is a coward.
Lessee, the majority of this pile on has several thousand posts. I though we were trying to disuade the clique theory?
Before everyone starts assuming again, I was exaggerating about that several thousand.
Not given that this is the first time you’re trying to get out of it by claiming it was a typo.
I’m trying to remember the last time I meant one thing and typed its complete opposite and I’m coming up short…
Also, given that the context of the word in the Thread Title and in the OP are fairly similar, the explanation that you typoed is falling rather short of explaining this.
And Logic, I have never served in any capacity in the armed forces of this nation, nor am I involved in any policymaking for such, nor am I involved in the governing of this country. I would love to know what makes my opinion about the military action in Iraq any less real than anyone else’s. I promise you my opinion is not a hologram;) Is my opinion of the status of human rights in Cuba and China not real due to my never having lived there and my non-position in this country’s governing bodies?
Davebear, that was funny. And appropriate. And when I say “appropriate” I actually mean “appropriate,” not “inappropriate,” though I’m certain this will confuse you to no end. Sorry about that, but I thought I’d use words with their intended meaning rather than the opposite. I know it sounds strange, but after awhile you’ll get used to it.
You Sir are obviously a speed reading skimmer because I am proven wrong 100% of the time.
:::sheesh ::: If there is no wrong, that means there is no right either… right? … No? … Well Damn !!!
