“I was only following orders”
“Sorry, nope. 20 years. Next.”
“I was only following orders”
“Sorry, nope. 20 years. Next.”
And a slavish devotion to Kristi Noem.
Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.
NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.
They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.
The Kansas Young Republicans chapter has been shut down by the state’s GOP leaders. I am hopeful there will be more repercussions.
Lol why would they be? It’s Kansas, they will probably get medals for it.
Probably not MAGA enough for them; they were after all only joking, not actually getting off their butts and getting things done.
It’s been said before, but one thing Trump has accomplished is to bring his fellow cockroaches more into the light. I read the whole article, and this type of language would not likely have been used in past generations, not like this. It would have been believed, embraced, just not said out loud (for the most part).
I got the sense from the exchanges that this is part of establishing one’s conservative credentials now, that vile comments are what makes these piss ants more like their hero. Good. No more pretending to be decent. Show your true colors.
The anti-Semitism and racism was totally about owning the libs!
In private messages they never thought would see the light of day.
Yeah, seriously, it ties in with a certain trend among this later generation when engaging in the Greater Internet Fuckwad phenomenon, where there is now great clout to be gained by being seen as (hold on, let me check with a young person…) “based”.
“Oooohhh… If the normies heard that they would HATE you sooo much! You redpilled legend telling it like it is!”
I can imagine that cohort perfectly well “rescuing” the whole Epstein thing if it ever cones out and exchanging pedophile jokes and memes that same way.
Qualified immunity. Police officers can’t be sued for actions taken in the course of their duties. And it’s obviously the duty of a police officer to keep a stroke victim away from medical attention, so no suit.
I’m well aware of that, hence why I talked about the city and/or county being sued. There is no immunity for those entities whatsoever, as those lawsuits happen all the time (and have already started in this case).
Police officers (or correctional officers under contract) can be sued for official actions, and have been sued here. Qualified immunity is distinguished from absolute immunity. If the officers violated clearly established constitutional rights, they can be held liable under 48 USC 1983 (the 14th Amendment). The Supreme Court has held that a detainee has a clearly established right to adequate medical care, which is violated when there is “deliberate indifference” to a “serious medical need.” Estelle v. Gamble (197x). A court will certainly find that a serious medical need was neglected, but the defendants may put up a fight as to whether there was any deliberate indifference rather than plain incompetence.
The county’s liability will turn on whether or not the the county, as a matter of policy, contributed to the lack of constitutionally required medical care. For example, inadequate first aid training, a long-standing pattern of not performing required wellness checks…

True. Absolute immunity would be, for example, what prosecutors have while performing their prosecutorial duties (though a prosecutor can be sued for other duties, such as actions taken during an investigation or an administrative task).
As a Kansan and a Democrat I resent that. Paint with a broad brush much?
With today’s Republicans, there no longer is a quiet part.
JD Vance has pulled out the “boys will be boys” defense:
Those “kids” he refers to are adults. One is a state senator.
Vance himself is only 41, only one year too old to be a “Young Republican” himself. I wonder if he also promotes fascism and bigotry in his private chats with his friends, or if that’s only his day job.
It’s just locker room talk!
Maybe in the locker rooms at Trump golf resorts…
