Omnibus Evil MFers in the news thread

That poor boy. The article says he only weighed 18lbs at the time of his death …he was 6 years old. My son weighed more than that at 9 months.

Heartbreaking.

In the Ron Howard movie Parenthood, Keanu Reeves’ character memorably says, “You need a license to buy a dog or drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish! But they’ll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.”

The article mentions that this man (the father of the boy who was starved to death) had had a traumatic childhood, but with no details. So he was probably passing forward (with prejudice) what he learned at the hands of his own parents. Whatever poison comes from one generation can be passed on to the next, but in my limited experience it is usually softened by other influences.

It’s one thing to have poor impulse control, .e.g. to smack your kid in a moment of intense frustration. While that would be unacceptable and in need of redress, it’s a whole different thing to maintain, for a month, that you’ve made a good decision by locking your kids in a closet without food. That’s not a parent who has poor impulse control due to a traumatic upbringing, that’s an evil motherfucker in the truest spirit of this thread.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind having a collection of these incidents, where the accused said they had an abusive childhood, to shove in the faces of those that say “My parents didn’t spare the rod and look how well I turned out!”.

My kickboxing teacher is a “spare the rod/spoil the child” type in regards to children as his father taught him. I’ve refrained from pointing out that he now teaches people how to punch each other.

Tradition has it that healing takes seven generations.

No argument here. I hope my post did not appear like an attempted justification of these parents’ behavior.

I’m not familiar with that tradition. I would imagine that the process is quite different for each person and family. At this point, I hope that some resources will go to helping the surviving son heal.

Hm, I thought it was a reference to a Bible verse, saying that the sins of the father would be visited on the sons, to the seventh generation. But it looks like the actual verse says “the third and fourth generation”. The “seven” that I’m thinking of might be a mistranslation of that, or might be from elsewhere.

Somebody added “third” and fourth."

I pit him and the fact that he was able to stay at large for so long. But hopefully he’ll face justice soon.

All I want to say is that this is the accused rapist.

He looks very punchable.

Absolutely.

My reaction was more Banal Evil than Chaotic Evil. But Evil nevertheless.

He looks like a cross between Simon Pegg and one of the guys from The Inbetweeners.

A good scenario: Every time he sits down to eat, the other inmates grab his plate, throw it against the wall, and tell him to starve.

I’m really starting to get the idea the US military just can’t be trusted to appropriately handle sexual assault cases when the accused is of a high rank. (The link goes to Military.com.)

A two-star Air Force general has been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a subordinate officer by a court-martial jury in Texas and will ultimately avoid jail time after pleading guilty to lesser charges.

A panel of eight officers found Maj. Gen. Phillip Stewart not guilty of sexual assault on Saturday, following nearly two weeks of court proceedings at Joint Base San Antonio. The former commander of the 19th Air Force was found guilty of other charges, including conduct unbecoming an officer and one specification of dereliction of duty; prior to the trial, he pleaded guilty to the other specification, as well as an adultery charge.

Not sure their record for lower ranks is much better, tbh.
