A friend purchased a large boat/small yacht that was in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The cost to trailer the boat to western PA was not negligible, so he brought it on the water. Up the Mississippi, eventually reaching his home on the Allegheny River. Captaining a brand new (to him) boat, bigger than he’d ever experienced, was an experience.
16 years ago, a 16 year old girl was raped and became pregnant. She gave birth to a daughter. The court has now given custody of the now 16 year old daughter to the rapist, and has ordered the victim to pay child support.
But having her daughter taken away weeks ago over allegations she gave her a cell phone left her with a lack of confidence that she’ll ever get a fair shake with justice impossible to find for the past 16 years.
What 16 YO in America doesn’t have a cell phone? Hell, I’d be more likely to question her fitness as a mother if she denied the child a phone note not likely to question it for either condition.
