OK, the intensity scale (which uses roman numerals) maxes out at XII, so I suppose it means that – though at that point a shelter with indestructible walls becomes a cocktail shaker and I would not trust your access hatches and ventilation pipes will stay intact. Meanwhile in the open-ended magnitude scale (formerly Richter), which is exponential, a 12 is something beyond any recorded human experience. That’s the fuckin’ extinction asteroid hitting.

It’s a potential selling point or selling liability (sort of like a pool in many areas). Apparently, its existence was not well-know prior to that time. He had decided to unload the house, so advertising one of its features wouldn’t normally be a problem - just ran into someone who wanted to steal it (although what that plan was is beyond me).
Of course, even if he had sold it before getting attacked, the advertising had destroyed the ‘secret bunker’ value for the new owner. Not sure how you go about finding people who want to buy your secret bunker without it no longer being a secret.
As I read the article, he had assumed that the only people who would see the listing would be those who were in the market for a multi-million dollar house. It was the fact that the ad went viral (almost certainly because of the bunker) that led to it being seen by a much wider audience.

My main curiosity is how did the alleged shooter think he was going to get legal title to the house? I suppose he could have been expecting the rocket to go up at any minute but still. Even if he’d succeeded in killing everyone in the house, there’d be maybe 2 days before someone did a wellness check.

I can’t seem to verify this online anywhere but a bit of recent news out of Kankakee involved two stolen cars and a test drive. A couple who took a Mustang out for a test drive and never returned was pulled over for stealing the vehicle. They told the police, in essence, “We didn’t steal the car! We were on our way to get money to pay for it! Honest!”
The other stolen car? That’s the one they left at the dealership.
