Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 1)

What the fuck is going on in this thread.

If I were you, I’d leave in a huff.

If that’s too soon, you can leave in a minute and a huff.

You know, you haven’t stopped talking since I came here? You must’ve been vaccinated with a phonograph needle.

Racist homophobe gets kicked off a flight, announces where he works, gets fired.

Huh. Wonder why he was trying to fly on such a famously woke airline as JetBlue.

(Also, I thought the way he said “Obviously, I’m racist; I’m a white man with a black bag” sounded sarcastic.)

“Too much of what’s happening in our country today is not normal,” Biden said Thursday night at Independence Hall, flanked by two U.S. Marines. “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic.”

Biden: Trump supporters are too extreme.

Trump Supporters: KILL HIM!

He was trying to be sarcastic which was ironic because he was coming off as totally racist and homophobic. The whole incident had enough irony, you could take wrinkles out of your laundry.

On one site that I resist admiting that I go to, I have started seeing ads for things that are contra-me (my ad-blocker has become subpar). One is to send for a free copy of an edition of The Kid’s Guide which explains what [Individual-ONE] accomplished in his (first) term in office.

So I visited the site (make the 3 word publication name into a url with the typical extension), and found the catalog to be replete with RW squickiness. As though Jack Chick were still alive. Naturally they are playing to home-schoolers.

The water in Jackson, Mississippi

Country singer Jason Aldean’s wife made anti-trans comments and Aldean supported them, and his PR firm have dropped him.

This trend, though welcome, is still a bit surprising to this old duffer. Are these companies really putting principle over profits, or is it that they are afraid of losing more if they keep a client like this than if they drop him? Or some of both?

Note that if it is the latter, I still think it’s a good thing that there are enough principled people in the world to make the practical calculus of business come out with this result.

I’m sure it’s all about profit in the end, but even if the companies aren’t doing it for the principle, they’re doing it in response to public pressure.

And to me that’s better. I think the better sign of change is not a company wanting to avoid bigotry, but rather the millions of customers who are repelled by it.

Right wingers are trying to claim the the National Institutes of Health have approved ivermectin for Covid, and Individual 1 and his minions were right all along. No, that isn’t what happened. The NIH just discussed how ivermectin is being used in trials, but it’s generally thought that it would need to be 100 times the dosage recommended for humans in parasite use.

For fuck’s sake, we’ve got Paxlovid now. Why are Republicans still so invested in ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine? (Reason: Because if they’re right about that, they won’t have to admit that Trump made a mistake. Not that they ever admit it anyway).

Hey, here’s a fun idea for a school activity. Let’s baptize over one hundred children without their parents’ permission. At least one of the children had been baptized into a different church prior to this event. You’ll notice on reading the link that the principal is not exactly apologetic about the whole thing.

From the link.

Another parent said the school’s baptism felt like it “undid the baptism that had already taken place at their church.”

Technically, isn’t it the same God?

Not even, just, technically! But you must remember that these folks don’t think other Christians are True Christians . . .
and don’t get them started on whether Catholics are Christians or not.

Die Heretic! Die!!!

Baptize them all! Let God sort them out.
