For once nobody was killed or maimed. Pretty weak effort overall. I give it a weak 3. Eighty lbs. of dynamite would have been so much more satisfying. And deadly.
I also like the fact the photo in the article shows blue smoke but the text says the baby’s gender was unknown to MSN. In other words, they don’t have any pictures of the event, so they just tucked some random file pic in because all articles need pix. And although they attributed it to Getty Images, they didn’t explicitly call it out as a junk pic. Way to go MSN / MSM giving fodder to the doubters.
According to the news last night, though, it DID crack foundation walls. I expect some lawsuits.
They also said on the news that it was, indeed, a boy, so the blue smoke was appropriate, even if only fortuitously.

So it’s definitely not the explosion from the gender-reveal party story, but a completely different explosion from a completely different and totally unrelated gender-reveal party on the other side of the country four years ago.

That second pic and caption is not in the article I’m viewing from @Typo_Negative’s link. But that may be a matter of different ad blocking, me not being logged in, etc.

Which is really true of a great many states, demographically. Certainly most of the upper Midwest. Probably quite true of Michigan, too.

I’ve never been to Idaho, but there are large swaths of Michigan that are rural, conservative, fundamentalist, and racist. We have a lot of farms and the jingoistic rah-rah gun culture you might expect. Where we might deviate from Idaho is we have a lot of forest and spend a lot of time hunting. It’s a very outdoorsy culture.
I lived in a rural area growing up, and I really liked the long stretches of backroad and not being surrounded by people all the time, but I wish it didn’t have to come with so much baggage. And that’s not even getting into the militia and KKK.
Right now I have the worst of both worlds. I live in a small suburban community in Metro Detroit, so I have all of the traffic and congestion but I’m still surrounded by yokels. My neighborhood is festooned with Trump signs and Don’t Tread on Me flags. My local politicians are embarrassing. And strip malls are everywhere.
Because he knows the governor! He can get her on the phone right now!
