Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 1)

I’d be worried about the smell, but these folks don’t seem like the type to be fussy housekeepers.

The Deptford, NJ Little League has some clever people on board. Great idea.

But what happens when one of them takes them up on it and then throws the game to his kid’s team?

Then the other team’s parents will verbally abuse them, and then they will be recruited for three games.

In any case, it didn’t say that they would or could officiate their own kid’s games. I’d actually say it would be a given that they wouldn’t.

Umps should be armed now.

All you posers - not realising that it’s the hobo font that has the most gravitas.

Next thing you know, the officials will just be deciding on their own the outcome of games.

We don’t need that, we already have the NBA.

You don’t have them ump their kid’s game. You pick one on a night when their kid isn’t playing, so they have to make an extra trip out to the fields.

I don’t know how their league is, but around here, little league games are more on the weekends, and there are a whole bunch at once at different fields.

So, I’d say rather than wasting a trip on a day that their kid isn’t playing, they are umping a game, while missing their kid’s that is taking place on the other side of the park.

Y’know, if I were a sane, reasonable Little League parent, I really wouldn’t be happy if my kid’s game were officiated by someone chosen purely on the grounds that they’re a belligerent jerk. I’d want a fair and even-minded ump with real knowledge of the rules of the game. This might be justice for the belligerent jerks, but it’s not justice for all of the innocent bystanders.

From the article:

I assume that the trained ump’s calls will take precedence over the “volunteer”.

One year when my son was playing baseball, there was a severe shortage of umpires. The managers and league officials worked out a compromise, where the trained ump worked behind the plate, while a volunteer parent from the ‘home’ team worked the bases. (All games were played on the same field.) I was almost always the Dad who was the ump when my kid’s team was the designated home team. It was kinda fun and a definite learning experience.

The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) — a Christian anti-LGBTQ+ hate group that uses its professional-sounding name to push transphobic and anti-abortion propaganda — recently “suffered a significant data breach” that leaked 10,000 of its confidential files, including its membership list.

Errant pedantry, amirite?

In the category of News Headlines I Didn’t Really Need To See:

Nazis protest at Land-Grant drag brunch: Here’s what you need to know now

From the article:

Most of the protestors donned black ski masks and sunglasses, preventing their faces from being shown.

Perhaps they were afraid that if anyone knew who they were there might be repercussions.

Data breaches are scary, but at the same time that headline does cheer me up.

And their data was leaked.

At least we are up against idiots. We have that going for us.

“That’s my secret – I’m always angry.”

Ours was Hairy Wart from his habit of climbing onto your shoulder then falling asleep. Eventually is was changed to K.C. – short for Kitty Cat. We didn’t expend a lot of effort in picking a name.

The Daily Mail apparently got their hands on Rihanna’s baby’s birth certificate. That’s just gross and weird! She can keep it a secret if she likes! I hope she uses them into the deepest darkest hole possible.
