You say that like humans are any different.
Was this the cow?
This morning our cat got everyone else in the house up at 6AM by crying LOUDLY(I was already up, getting ready for work).
She wanted to go outside and chase things.
She doesn’t really murder anything, except moths. Her track record at actually catching what she chases isn’t really very good.
No, it was a one-panel cartoon. I’ve never watched The Tick.
Our girls will happily catch moths and flitty bugs and eat them. A few months ago a juvenile robin alighted on the railing of the catio, and Goo got it. My wife tried to save it, but it died in her hands. Mama Robin was not pleased.
What was surprising is that Midnight, our arthritic old cat with the paralyzed tail, was actually a good huntress. She caught frogs and toads and ate them (Pepper Mill is still grossed out by her memory of Midnight with a frog hand sticking out of her mouth). She caught snakes. She caught a giant cecropia moth and paraded it around in front of the other cats ("I have a Giant Moth and you don’t!) before chowing down on it with much crunching of chitin. And not long before she died she finally managed to capture a chipmunk. Alive. She was so disappointed that we wouldn’t let her bring it into the house and show it off. But I was afraid it’d get loose, and I didn’t want a chipmunk running around a house full of cats.
This genius and his friends broke into an apartment building’s pool, took a bad dive and broke his neck, got paralyzed from the neck down. Now 2 years later, he’s suing the building for negligence.
I not only hope he gets nothing, but that the building sues the shit out of him.
Added to the above discussion about strangulation as an aggravating factor in domestic violence, celebrity chef Eric Rivera was arrested for that same thing earlier in August.
Some may remember Rivera for his righteous 2023 stance against a white Australian transplant to NYC who opened a sushi restaurant, calling her a “colonizer,” and tweeting “If you don’t see why this is a problem you are part of the problem.” Recent events, however, may demonstrate that the actual problem is Rivera’s proclivity to attack women who piss him off.
In the comic, it was referred to as “Apocalypse Cow”.
Paywalled. I did see that he might have a case in France.
IANAL, but a simple Google search says that such a thing could even be possible in the US (where a trespasser can sue a property owner). It would only happen under pretty limited circumstances though, and as usual it varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Some factors that might play into making a property owner liable could be if they knew people were trespassing regularly and failed to put up signs or barriers, and also knew of a hazard that was likely to cause damage. Or if they did something to intentionally cause injury, such as setting a trap. But it would be pretty rare.
I would expect that if someone broke into an apartment’s pool and hurt themselves jumping into it, they would probably have no case in the US. (But again, not a lawyer.)

I have a book with that title, but it’s a locally printed book of funny signs.
Evidently there’s a book series with that title about zombie cows, but I haven’t read those.
CNN, in its ongoing quest to become Fox News Lite, included a man who once posted that Mike Pence should have overturned the 2020 election on its panel of “undecided voters” last night.
The trailer for Francis Ford Coppola’s new movie Megallpolis features a series of quotes from film critics trashing his previous films, an apparent attempt to head off negative reviews by saying “Well, critics didn’t like The Godfather at first either!”
Turns out none of the quotes are real and they were generated by a chatbot.
Lionsgate has dropped the marketing consultant who included AI-generated quotes from critics in the latest "Megalopolis" trailer.
Sounds like someone used ChatGPT as a search engine.
Or used a search engine and didn’t notice they were pasting from the newfangled box on the results page that’s really “Let our AI summarize what we found, plus some made up shit inserted at random. Including made up shit other AIs made up on other occasions and posted someplace that we now “think of” as legit input.”
Italian justice is revving up for another big case, this time involving the sinking of a “superyacht” in a storm (the vessel was possibly struck by a waterspout/tornado, but authorities are pursuing manslaughter charges, blaming the crew.
“There are many possibilities for culpability. It could be just the captain. It could be the whole crew. It could be the guard. We are evaluating all of the factors to see whose behavior fault can be assigned to,” Cartosio said.
Sentencing first, trial later!
Anytime something bad happens in Italy, you’ve got to bring the hammer down.
Authorities could call prosecutor Giuliano Mignini out of retirement to handle the matter, based on his success in prosecuting the Monster of Florence and Amanda Knox cases. A satanic cult could be involved in the yacht’s sinking.
Or, maybe, there could be crew incompetence involved.
There may have been a whole lot of incompetence going on. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/what-we-know-about-sinking-superyacht-off-sicily-2024-08-20/ He added that its sinking was due to a chain of human errors given that the storm was expected, speaking in interviews to Italian media. Had the crew shut all doors and hatches, turned on the engine, lifted the anchor, lowered the keel and turned the yacht to face the wind, they would have suffered “zero damage”, the CEO said.
