Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

Drunk driver drives wrong way on freeway towards…wait for it…Kamala Harris’ motorcade.

I don’t think the driver actually passed her vehicle. I think the video is just showing the first round of cops coming through. I feel like if she was in that group, or directly behind it, one of those cops/secret service would have attempted to push him into the barrier or even just pulled in front of him, I know it would’ve been head on, but I doesn’t look like any of them were going all that fast.

Also, the driver almost certainly passed other cops that had the upcoming on ramps blocked. So it’s possible they knew he was coming and kept her somewhere safe until they figured out what was going on.

True. But a wrongway driver uses the off ramp to access the freeway in the wrong direction coming up from the surface street. Those might not have been blocked.

She really is tough on crime.

Damn, a rally in a Waukesha county town? That is just about the reddest county in the state.

I’m not saying the cops blocking traffic from entering would’ve stopped him, just that they would have seen him coming and could have warned the motorcade so they had a few minutes to come up with a plan.
IOW, the cops we see in the video, I’m guessing, had known about him since he was at least several miles away.

After the attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania this summer, I have doubts about the protective services being so coordinated…

Local law enforcement handles closing the roads and leading the motorcade.

I think this needs to be shared. No details of the plunge, but I like to imagine he was drunk.

Johnnie Turner: Kentucky lawmaker dies weeks after plunging into an empty swimming pool on a mower | CNN

I read this as “No details of the purge.” Oh, my brane sometimes.

Odd story, but without details it’s hard to say it’s stupid. My first thought was that usually a pool is fenced off for safety reasons. Maybe a child proof fence isn’t mower proof?

Take your brane over to some theoretical cosmology thread.

He needed to make the ramp steeper if he was going to make that jump.

I did also. I guess my brane is also less-than-cosmological.

Since he was 76 he probably had a stroke.

Yeah, this, or some other age-related impairment might have at least contributed to the incident.

If he was 46 I’d say it was likely a “hold my beer” moment.

Yeah.

This sounds like an accident and tragedy to me.

I don’t think it belongs here and comes off as unnecessary.

Probably one right after another…

.

(aren’t most mowers two-stroke?)

I’d simply like to imagine seeing a video of it.
Neh, I’ll bet it wasn’t a stroke, and that he was basically the victim of being a discombobulated shithead.

Does it really matter that much if the pool was empty? It’s not like riding a lawn mower into a full swimming pool is a particularly smart thing to do.

It’s definitely a worse thing if the pool is empty. A full pool would cushion the entry.
