On the other hand (or hoof) I met a veterinarian – fully trained and accredited – who’d gone over to the homeopathy dark side. She also did therapeutic massage (which is legit for horses, by the way), chiropractic (the senior vet in the practice I used studied it and had some success with treatments, but it’s more controversial) and acupuncture (which has doubtful efficacy). But observing her describe “succussion” – well, come on, now!
Yeah, it’s like if a serial rapist has been stalking a woman and knows that she’ll be alone at home, so he creeps into her backyard on a moonless night to get into a rear window while nobody can see him, and falls into an empty pool and badly breaks both legs. That’s an evil MFer who becomes a stupid MFer due to ineptitude.
It sure doesn’t preclude as far as I’m concerned. Lots of evil is actively stupid and a decent fraction of stupid amounts to evil by mental negligence.
Here’s what should be a gift link to the WashPost story about the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to hold an active shooter drill at a state-run pediatric psychiatric hospital – without alerting the staff that it was just a drill.
That appears to open at the article, although there’s no preview. Also, here’s a link to the plaintiff’s announcement of the $13 million settlement to compensate (to some degree) the patients and staff traumatized.
The settlement announcement includes a full description of what happened, including the name of the dipshit who ordered the unannounced drill.
Just so we’re clear, Derek Leppek is the name of the asshole who thought it was a good idea to traumatize minor psychiatric patients. And a newspaper article on the story says that he was the “safety coordinator” at the hospital in question.
Yup. And the staff, from the administrator through the care staff right down to the janitors were traumatized. Some of them have quit and are still fucked up from it.
I don’t approve of the government snooping in people’s online business, but I feel like this combination of searches should send up at least one red flag. Not that they helped him get away with his crime anyway.
