Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

Ha! That’s a good one.

On the other hand (or hoof) I met a veterinarian – fully trained and accredited – who’d gone over to the homeopathy dark side. She also did therapeutic massage (which is legit for horses, by the way), chiropractic (the senior vet in the practice I used studied it and had some success with treatments, but it’s more controversial) and acupuncture (which has doubtful efficacy). But observing her describe “succussion” – well, come on, now!

When Doctors Literally “Blew Smoke Up Your Arse” (todayifoundout.com)

here is a handy rhyme:

Tobacco glyster (enema), breathe and bleed.
Keep warm and rub till you succeed.
And spare no pains for what you do;
May one day be repaid to you.

TikTokker Mistakenly Tears Down Greek Flags, Faces Backlash

A woman has sparked outrage after mistakenly removing Greek flags from outside a restaurant in New Jersey, believing them to be Israeli.

Well in her defense, they are blue and white. And rectangular. Don’t forget the rectangular.

Frickin Moron!

That is, admittedly, remarkably stupid; but if they were Israeli, that wouldn’t make it right.

There are Israelis trying to stop the shit that’s going on now.

It’s easy to make that mistake; the Greek flags have the classic symbol of Judaism, a cross, up in the corner. Anyone might be confused.

Agreed that tearing down anyone’s flags is wrong and counterproductive. Your serious comment is well-taken. But …

Arguably, tearing down Israeli flags belongs in the companion Evil MFers thread. This door is for the stupid MFers.

Tearing down flags has a long history within political protest. Tearing down the wrong countries’ flags is just … well … stupid.

Yeah, it’s like if a serial rapist has been stalking a woman and knows that she’ll be alone at home, so he creeps into her backyard on a moonless night to get into a rear window while nobody can see him, and falls into an empty pool and badly breaks both legs. That’s an evil MFer who becomes a stupid MFer due to ineptitude.

Outraged at their treatment of ouzo?

That’s fair.

Membership in one group should not preclude membership in the other.

It sure doesn’t preclude as far as I’m concerned. Lots of evil is actively stupid and a decent fraction of stupid amounts to evil by mental negligence.

Here’s what should be a gift link to the WashPost story about the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ decision to hold an active shooter drill at a state-run pediatric psychiatric hospital – without alerting the staff that it was just a drill.

https://wapo.st/3NwSg70

That appears to open at the article, although there’s no preview. Also, here’s a link to the plaintiff’s announcement of the $13 million settlement to compensate (to some degree) the patients and staff traumatized.

The settlement announcement includes a full description of what happened, including the name of the dipshit who ordered the unannounced drill.

Just so we’re clear, Derek Leppek is the name of the asshole who thought it was a good idea to traumatize minor psychiatric patients. And a newspaper article on the story says that he was the “safety coordinator” at the hospital in question.

Yup. And the staff, from the administrator through the care staff right down to the janitors were traumatized. Some of them have quit and are still fucked up from it.

I suppose some will say this was a MIRACLE --coming back from the dead, not medical stupidity.

I hate it when that happens.

Better than sleeping through it.

Meh. Wasn’t using it anyway.

… I’m going to hell aren’t I?

I don’t approve of the government snooping in people’s online business, but I feel like this combination of searches should send up at least one red flag. Not that they helped him get away with his crime anyway.

The 25-year-old’s alleged actions in the days after the attack suggest he was not exactly a criminal mastermind. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Council conducted a series of suspicious internet searches, for phrases like “SECGOV hack,” “telegram swap,” “how can I know for sure if I am being investigated by the FBI,” and “What are the signs you are under investigation by law enforcement or the FBI even if you have not been contacted by them.”
