Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

I’m assuming the doctor paid his staff well enough for them to tolerate his behavior to a certain point.

Not sure what the police could have done, prior to the sexual assault. If i want to walk around naked in my office, not a police matter. Similarly to the ‘nakedDrDave’ Instagram account.

The state version of a medical board, on the other hand, probably should have responded to the office antics. Once again, I don’t see a problem with his IG account.

I think a doctor’s office is legally considered a “public accommodation” and therefore no, you can’t walk around naked in it, even if you own it.

Most doctor’s offices I’ve been in have public areas (waiting room), semi-private areas (hallways between exam rooms) and private areas (the doctor’s actual office), so this may be a gray area. Then there’s the lunch period, when the public is not allowed in at all.

Sure, but when they decided they weren’t being paid enough, that’s when you call the cops (in this case).

I wondered about that, but this isn’t like walking around your house naked with guests over. It’s more like a store manager walking around naked.
And, if the doctor is just part of a medical group and doesn’t own the building and/or practice, someone above him could still have him removed.
Also worth noting that the people that saw him, worked there. So he, purposely or otherwise, exploited the power imbalance, which may be why he got away with it until it became more than just him wandering around naked.

And that seems to be what the state board said as well. However, the IG account will still help to show a pattern of him doing this kind of thing.

This happened during normal business hours. Also, my business delivers food to doctor’s offices. Many, if not most of the places we deliver to are still very much open during lunch. I’ve spent a lot of time carrying food into break rooms while trying not to bump into patients on the way back.

I’m not aware of any law against simply being naked in public. But I’m sure that greatly depends on one’s location.

Thinking back, I seem to remember disrobing in my doctor’s office.

From wiki:

In the United States, states have differing nudity and public decency laws.[4] In most states, state law prohibits exposure of the genitals and/or the female nipples in a public place, while in other states simple nudity is legal, but evidence of intent to shock, arouse or offend other persons (lewd conduct) is evidence of prohibited conduct.

I think you also have to take into account the difference between “public places” and “public property”.

Even if he was just walking around, being that he was doing this in a doctor’s office and around employees/subordinates, it could likely be argued that he was doing this with the intent to shock or offend.

Without conducting research beyond reading the wikibox @Joey_P just helpfully provided …

Let’s remember this event is in Arkansas. One of the Bible Belt states.

If I was to bet whether their laws took a relaxed permissive stance or an uptight prohibitive stance on simple public nudity, I’d go for “uptight prohibitive”. That’s before we consider the semi-captive nature of employees or patients awaiting appointments.

This guy is boned. And would have been a lot sooner if somebody had the 'nads to report him to police.

Stupid MF responds to 3 traffic tickets by setting fire to a house he thought was where the trooper lived (it was actually his father’s house). No one was hurt but the house was destroyed. He’s now facing 20 years in prison.

My late wife was an attorney. Who early in her career often did freebie legal aid consults for folks in minor trouble.

One of her joking comments to me after the fact was that some of these folks were trying awfully hard to parlay a traffic ticket into Murder 1.

Well, it seems like this guy came awfully close. Good thing everyone escaped the house fire.

For women, anyway.

For a man, a slap on the wrist from a good ole boy judge would not be shocking. Blytheville is the biggest town in the county (I grew up in the co-county seat down the road :man_shrugging:) but it’s not exactly a cosmopolitan area

I’ve driven through Blytheville. Yeah, not a lot of “there” there. And the sort of place where a “leading (male) citizen, a paragon of the community and local church” would have all his indiscretions quickly swept under a very large rug.

My first thought was Florida, but no, New York.

The guy looks like he could easily be played by Bill Hader, if Bill changed his hairstyle.

Depends on the doctor’s office business practices. My former PCP’s practice locked the door at 12:15 and if your appointment was at 1:15, you waited in the hall until they unlocked the door. This may be rare. Of course, if the incidents didn’t happen during lunch, that part is moot.

My dentist is the same way. Doors are locked at 12:00 and open at 1:00. I’ve learned not to be early for a 1:00 appointment.

I assumed this was because everyone went to lunch at that time. Now I’m not so sure…

No. Really?

In the video, the good doctor seems to be behaving oddly around a pizza. I don’t think anyone would want to eat food left unprotected in that office.

Our Vet’s office was the same, but they did have an emergency number on the door.

It’s not always Florida Man. Florida Tiktok influencer arrested for shoplifting $500 worth of goods by using a fake bar code at self-checkout, then posting the video to Tiktok.

We used to watch a true-crime show with Lt. Joe Kenda. Something I said often while watching the show was ‘Rule Number 1: If you don’t want to get caught, don’t tell anybody!
