Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

OK, this originated with a kid. The school has elementary, middle school (jr. high?), and high school students. So I can’t really call the kid stupid. He just didn’t know better. Here’s a post shared by the Blaine, PD:

Today, at 1258 hours, Blaine Police were dispatched to a report of a subject on the campus with a firearm. No other information was provided. As officers responded, the school campus had already been placed on lockdown. Police requested mutual aid from the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office, the US Border Patrol and US Customs.

Law enforcement searched the campus while officers interviewed the witnesses at the Blaine Elementary School. The students reported a man with a gun associated with a white truck. After a thorough search, no suspect was located. The campus was released from lockdown.

And now, the punchline.

A short time later, police and school staff reviewed security footage and determined the student had likely seen a maintenance employee. The employee, who was driving a white truck, was using a caulking gun to make a repair. We believe the student mistook the caulking gun for a firearm.

We have a new image to add to the “Glocks” poster.

That was an entertaining little page. Thank you. I especially like this tidbit:

I don’t think I’ve ever heard a tornado give a recital.

The author of that did not make the news but was a stupid MF. Just barely, but trying hard.

Woman calls her son’s girlfriend’s employer and (falsely, I assume) reports that she was selling drugs out of the business. The next day she (falsely) reported that the business had an active shooter and swatted them. Now she’s looking at 3.5 years in jail.

I have!

Turns out that there might be a slight possibility that the guy behind Fyre Fest 2 is still full of shit.

Yesterday the LA Times announced they were gonna have an AI provide “counterpoints” to their editorials.

Today they backed down after the AI praised the KKK.

The guy clearly knows what he’s doing. Here is an egregious attempt to rip people off through one of the world’s most transparent scams. Isn’t it obvious? He’s angling for a position in Trump’s cabinet.

I really think there’s a de facto get out of jail card for running a scam that is so obviously a scam that the victims deserve their disappointment & the scamster deserves his loot.

See also “TV preachers”.

Just to verify, for a guy who’s not particularly knowledgeable about guns: The one labeled “M-16” is the actual AK-47, the one next to it is the actual M-16, and the handgun in the lower left is an actual Glock, right?

Just to verify, the entire graphic is smug gatekeeping meant to mock and exclude anyone, especially media and social media types, from daring to criticize the impact of guns on society unless they have an insider’s knowledge of the minutiae of firearms, by which point the Second Amendment Only schmoes presume they’ll “see the light” and be one of them.

Don’t get me wrong, I think we’d be a lot better off with some serious gun control laws. But that doesn’t absolve ignorance on the part of reporters.

I guess that depends on whether you think such errors have any relevance.

I think the second handgun in the right column is a Glock. But I’ve never been a fan; nor handled a Glock, so I’m not sure.

Anyway…

I’ve mentioned my Trump cultist friend before. I shared a meme – publicly – about keeping hatred out of Lent. She replied, ‘You and your little Trump-hating pound puppies are the most hateful creatures I know :face_with_rolling_eyes: :poop: :poop: :poop:’ Of course, I countered. She said my insults were getting old. So I made a picture of her profile picture with Bugs Bunny pointing to her and saying, ‘What a maroon!’

The thing is, since it was public, my wife saw it. Thankfully, she found the exchange amusing. (Also, she said, ‘She looks like a man.’)

She mentioned again that she found it amusing. :face_with_tears_of_joy:

I agree.

I believe it’s a CZ75

It’s some variation of the Browning Hi-Power, one of the most widely used basic models of pistol of the past century. Probably a CZ. The point is that it’s a previous generation of pistol from the Glock, so it would be like calling a flip-phone an iPhone.

It has relevance if the police see or if people report to the police as an actual weapon something that’s a toy.

I don’t think that’s really the point of the graphic; but in real life there can be lots of relevance.

Her looks are not remotely relevant.

I really don’t know very much about handguns. Me, I’m a long gun type of guy. I use my guns for sports shooting (i.e. killing paper sheets or clay disks) and hunting (i.e. killing food) and nothing else. So I won’t disagree with you in any way. But dang, it looked a lot like a CZ75.

[aside] Have you tried the CZ Lux .22 bolt-action rifle? I have one, for target shooting, and it’s excellent. [/aside]
