Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

That would be telling!

The track is everyone’s talking about poison mushrooms being served to guests, and it reminded me of a movie where people are poisoned.

It’s from a 1981 Swedish black comedy.

At what point in this thread was anyone talking about a movie?

They’re not. They’re talking about an Australian woman who (allegedly) murdered people by feeding them poison mushrooms, and it reminded me of a movie where people are poisoned.

Maybe next time say something like “That reminds me of a movie I saw once” so I’m not sitting here scrolling through the thread trying to find the previous discussion of a movie?

Major add to the Rat’s Ass Chronicles (things in the news about which I don’t give a rat’s ass): Biden’s press secretary has announced she’s renouncing the Democratic Party to become an independent, because she doesn’t like being confined to “boxes”.

And oh yeah, gotta trash the boss on your way to well-deserved obscurity, because who would bother to read your book without spicy “revelations”.

And her decision to leave the Democratic Party is in no way a publicity stunt to promote her book.

I did, thank you.

Apparently her father managed to get himself kicked out of the hospital. When my spouse was dying I did quite a bit of shouting to make sure his wishes were respected so I am somewhat familiar with this sort of situation. Yet I wasn’t booted out. So what did dad do to be expelled from his daughter’s bedside?

Grace being a disabled adult with her own attorney very much complicates things. Whatever was going on involved lawyers and law and tells me there was a lot going on we don’t know about.

Sure.

What does that have to do with anything? This isn’t about you. The article didn’t mention anything about anyone getting kicked out for shouting.

Didn’t you just say you read the article. He was shutting off the alarms on her monitors because they were bothering her. Agree with it or not, it’s the reason given.

She had her own attorney? All I see is a reference to “Grace’s Disability Attorney”, which appears to be an attorney the family hired after the father was removed. Her mom (as well as her dad) had Power Of Attorney to make decisions for her.

And, with that, I’m going back to not replying to you. Thought I’d give it another shot since it’s been a while and it turned out exactly as I suspected, an argument, because you’re the authority on everything. And I still don’t think you read the article.

If you hire a “disability attorney” to represent you daughter yes, that means she has her own attorney. Since no one here knows the particulars of the situation it is possible that muddied the power of attorney authority.

Or maybe the entire staff of the hospital were evil assholes intent on killing a young girl for the laughs. Which seems to be what you’re implying.

Buh-bye.

I don’t agree with how you interpreted the situation so of course I’m ignorant… right. There’s this thing called “difference of opinion” you might want to look into.

“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
–Matthew 7:23

This is a well-known joke, so please don’t feel weird about it.

Listen, I’m all for calling out Democratic shennanigans, but this lady needs to read the fuckin’ room. There is nothing less important right now than her book deal.

To her, the book deal is all that matters.

Maybe I’m the only here quite stunned at Karine Jeanne-Pierre’s shitty turn. Didn’t see any problems with her role as WHPS (did anyone?). So much for my estimation of her. My current WAG/CT: did someone “get” to her, somehow, in some way?

Apparently not, as such

… Jean-Pierre, a longtime Democrat who also worked for former President Barack Obama’s administration and his presidential campaign, grew disillusioned with the party over its efforts to pressure Biden to drop his reelection bid last year …

It looks like she was “gotten to” by the sausage-making machinery.

Great way to weaken her former Party and give fuel to the evil machine of Trump for a cheap buck.

I had hoped that “don’t touch museum stuff” was something that most parents drilled into their children, but as usual when it comes to human nature I was disappointed.

Stupid tourists, yes, but also stupid museum staff. You shouldn’t touch museum displays, but museums also often include benches or seats that are there to be used as seats. If you’ve got a piece of artwork that could be mistaken for a seat, then you really should make it clearer that it’s an exhibit, perhaps by putting it behind velvet ropes, or in a clear plastic display case.

..or at least stringing a ribbon from the back of the chair to the front of the seat, which is what I’ve usually seen. Me, I would’ve put it on a raised platform.

But it’s true that many museums have seats for the visitors, often using actual art objects that are intended for visitors to sit on.

If it’s fragile or ought not to be sat upon, this should be clearly indicated.

Do we know if it wasn’t? From the not very high quality video, I couldn’t tell if there maybe was a sign like “Art object, do not sit down” or some such.

ETA: what does seem obvious from the video is that the couple actually didn’t want to sit down, put take funny photos of pretending to do so. Then the man lost his balance and crashed the chair. Irresponsible, surely, but not intentional vandalism.
