Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

To clarify, if it was on the property, there’d at least be the semblance of an investigation as there may have been reason to believe self-defense was involved. Far away from the house, and that’s not remotely a possible excuse.

In theory, shooting somebody in the back is still not ok, but the last few times it happened, it’s been the jury (not the prosecutors - they actually still do their jobs and try to prosecute them) who handed down Not Guilty verdicts. Note, that’s not a whole lot better. It’s not exactly a secret that living in the right ZIP code or having the right amount of money matters more than it should to jurors, no matter how strong a case the DA’s office brings.

And that’s still a distinct possibility here. These cases do get brought to trial. But juries can do some funky things, like deciding it’s ok to shoot somebody in the back when they pose no danger. I wish I could say Houston area jurors wouldn’t do that in this case, but it’s rather sad I can’t say so with anything resembling certainty.

I live in Western Washington…

Does it involve him Rampling around in red underwear?

Heh. That took a minute!

Well, they certainly are Brutal. And it appears more and more that they’re an infestation on the earth.

The Queen of Canada gets busted.
way to go, Queen.
And 16 of the 118 I’m sure very independent-thinking followers.

She looks too much like Dr. Steve Brule’s quite comely mother.

What a terribly written article.

‘Romana Didulo’.

I misread her surname.

I think anyone calling themselves the “Queen of Canada” needs the surname “Deludo”.

I might be misremembering the Commonwealth here, but surely Camilla, consort to King Charles III, has a better claim to “Queen of Canada”?

Royalty is so complicated.

I know I’m on the wrong side of the issue for a lot of dopers…

but RCMP Insp. Ashley St. Germaine looks like a biker, or a Yakuza. Call me old fashioned, but i don’t think police should be indistinguishable from street gangs.

You realize that’s the exact same justification that the Trump administration gave to send Abrego Garcia to a Salvadoran torture prison.

That’s not being old-fashioned, that’s being delusional.

Whatever. Your whataboutism fails. trump faked tattoos in photos to prove what he already wanted. Did I say we should send RCMP Insp. Ashley St. Germaine to Venezuela? What I did say, is she looks more like a gang banger than a cop. Which she does.

No, his tattoos and overall appearance were enough to conclude he must be a gang member. Hence why he was deported. The Trump confusion about the printed label on a photo was part of his lame attempt to justify it after the fact. But ICE and other law enforcement literally used your same exact reasoning.

Also it’s clear that you have no idea what the term “whataboutism” means.

To an ignoramus. Cops have tattoos all the time. School teachers have tattoos. I fucking have tattoos, and unless the Cub Scouts count as a street gang in your opinion (we did wear blue to “represent”) I’ve never been a gang member.

Tattoos don’t equate to being a gang member unless you live some sheltered life away from actual people.

Or 40 years in the past.

I suppose in 1985 it might have been unusual for a police officer to have tattoos, but even then I don’t think the only people who had them were in street gangs.

That’s right, also rock musicians (and metal fans), but in my experience tattoos only got mainstream in the 90s.

Are we talking about the RCMP inspector with her ‘sleaves’ showing? She looks like a biker? She is somehow inappropriate or unprofessional?

Really??? WTF.

Tatoos are not something I personally think look good or would ever get, but they are very, very common and have been popular and accepted for decades.

I had to google her, and that’s what it’s obviously about. One must have a massive stick up their ass to dismiss her because of a few tattoos in fucking 2025. It’s also a very, very shallow observation.

Her pic is in the cited Yahoo News article in post #5426. It’s in the preview box here and a larger version of the same image is at the Yahoo article itself.
