I got it.
The idea was it was supposed to be instant death, but it sometimes wasn’t and took several strikes. But any method of rounding up & killing wild animals is going to be problematic and will never have a 100% success rate for instant, painless death. - Hell, slaughterhouses don’t always kill animals instantly, even though the cattle is docile and restrained and they’ve had centuries to perfect the technique. It was just that video of someone smashing a seal’s skull with a club was particularly horrific.
I can also recall pictures (perhaps in Look magazine) of a baby seal being clubbed to death and then immediately being skinned, with the carcass left on the ice within yards of its mother.
We have all heard of romance scams over the internet and we have all seen the movies where the beautiful spy seduces the government employee or member of the military to get classified information, but I am not sure we have all heard of the following:

Any time I read about people abusing their position to share confidential info for personal profit, it pisses me off.
I’m sure those people think, awesome, I have access to all this stuff and I am going to milk this for all it’s worth. You are not special. You are a failure. Your job was to protect that stuff, and you are a loser with weak willpower and no morals. You aren’t some super spy, you are a sucker that fell for someone who figured you were stupid and gullible enough to fall prey to them, because they could tell you are a loser.
It just pisses me off because there are so many jobs in both private and public service that cannot happen without being able to trust someone to have access to sensitive information, and every time some pathetic failure betrays their position, it makes everyone else that more suspicious and makes everyone’s job that much harder. Some people suck and make the world a worse place, and you are one of those people.
I took my security clearances seriously. Wanna know what I worked on 30 years ago? No.
So true. Some county and state election officials come to mind. I don’t care which political party they betrayed the public trust to, I want long prison sentences.
Why are so many U.S.ers ignoring the huge controversy now engulfing Canada, involving the great B.C. ostrich cull? Threats of violence, stalking, mass outrage…
Not even RFK Jr.'s attempted intervention may save the infected ostriches. HHS wouldn’t let the cull happen if Canada was the 51st state. 
*it’s pretty certain that right-wing influencers would be gung-ho for the ostrich cull, if they were allowed onto the farm to shoot them with high-powered rifles.

Something totally senseless: a family of three Italian farmers is being evicted for not paying their mortgage. They threaten to blow up their house if law enforcement officers enter. Law enforcement enter anyway, so the farmers blow the house up, resulting in three officers dead and others injured. The three farmers (around 60 years old) will probably spend the rest of their lives in prison.
Somehow it is comforting to know that the USA does not have the planetwide monopoly on violent stupid selfishness.
Shame a bunch of police were injured and killed delivering that object lesson to the rest of us.
