Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

Even if not, issues like this can still curb enthusiasm, leading voters who might have chosen her to instead stay home, or issue a protest vote.

True. But she may not get past the primary.

In which case we end up with either a Nazi or a fascist sympathizer, instead.

Piers Morgan asks Russel Brand to name a Bible verse he found inspirational.

Brand then spends a minute and a half idly flipping through a Bible while Piers stares on in silence.

Apparently that is a phrase used in some Christian groups.

Thank you. I didn’t know that.

A better answer would have been “I’m not very religious and don’t know much from the Bible.”

Unless this was just a bit he was putting on for the camera (which I think is possible).

Not sure what your link was supposed to establish. It’s just a whole bunch of references to this one incident. I wonder if you linked to the wrong thing.

It took me to an AI overview of the phrase as used by Christian groups.

Explanatory, but still with creepy vibes.

Well, yes, of course AI is going to give you an explanation of the use of the phrase. That has nothing to do with whether the phrase is actually used regularly, or indeed has ever been used by anyone before this.

These were all from the first page of links

Not me. I had to click on the “AI Mode” tab to see it.

They are literally not there for me.

I do start to see a couple of things on the second page of results though. The first page is truly nothing but references to this incident on my browser.

We can’t all see what your computer sees, you should be relieved to know.

(Links to Google searches are almost always terrible cites for anything, because of the way Google works.)

Google search results are dynamic and personalized, so if you want to demonstrate something to others, it might be better to link to the actual sites that prove your point.

From the top Google News hits:

For more than a decade, he has poured into young men on and off the court. His proudest accomplishments don’t show up on the scoreboard.

“I started out as a youth pastor with my father. My passion has always been towards mentoring and pouring into young men. But what I’m learning right now, mentorship is not enough,” he told Fox News. “We’ve got to get into Lordship. [We] have to introduce our generation to our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Coach Venables gave me something I didn’t expect,” King-Kelly wrote. “A chance to give back through SOUL Mission. Four years pouring into young men. Watching them grow. Reminding them that football is the vehicle, not the destination. That work changed me more than it changed them.”

Looney didn’t just influence Todd’s path — he shaped his purpose. Todd honors Looney’s legacy by pouring into young men the same way Looney once poured into him: with belief, integrity and a commitment to helping them become the best version of themselves.

George believes that stellar coaching and pouring into young men beyond the game will determine success at the HBCU level. He said he often leaned on Robinson, the head coach at Alabama State, for guidance, especially about the unique challenges of coaching at an HBCU.

Except that he’s made being super-Christian his entire public persona the last few years.

I didn’t realize that. Looks like Morgan effectively pierced through that thin mask.

Anyone follow Chicago news and have more information?

So there was a third gun recovered (one to each of the two officers and another unknown gun). To me it sounds like the police didn’t bother to thoroughly search the suspect for a gun when they arrested him for robbery.

Dominionist, not Christian. There’s a big difference. In fact, I’m not sure if there’s anything the two religions actually have in common.

Is there a cite for there being little-to-no similarities or is that just a personal opinion?

According to Wikipedia, those professing to believe in the Dominion theology ARE Christians.

Other sources express the same sentiment.

These clowns are Christians who believe they have the God-given right to rule over everything in God’s creation.
