Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

‘The gun is good! The penis is bad!’

I recall reading in Starlog magazine (in an article about space ships) that the flying head in Zardoz was built for the unmade The Lord Of The Rings movie as one of the heads on the Argonath. Since already they had it, they decided to use it as the ship in Zardoz.

Say what you will about the movie, but we got to see Charlotte Rampling naked.

nitpick: “is evil.”

Which to be honest I always thought would be a rockin’ slogan for an all-lesbian NRA/Gun Owners of America chapter.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. I don’t think my wife would like it.

Favourite dialogue:

Friend: Arthur! We’ve all been used…

Arthur Frayn: And reused!

Friend: And abused!

Arthur Frayn: And amused! [laughs]

Woulda been good if he had done The Hobbit, though. I might have watched that.

Burn.

:grimacing:

It’s really a much greater insult than any of the “clever” nicknames.

My favorite dialogue — okay, monologue — was Zed telling his fellow Exterminators how to break into the Vortex.

Mine was the goofy “Renegade!” scene.
That’s awesome this has turned into a Zardoz thread. Excellent.

And it’s only off-topic because it’s not “news”, otherwise it’s totally fitting with the thread theme.

It would also fit well in the “What were you thinking?” thread.

NPR has a liberal bias, news at 11! I mean, it’s not a secret.

So who’s the stupid MFer in this story?

For the sake of balance, here is an article from the NPR website, with their reaction to the above essay:

I would also like to remind anyone who isn’t already aware, NPR is publicly funded by donations from individuals and corporations, program fees for programs it produces and provides to public radio stations, some other smaller sources such as return on investments, and 7% “other revenue” which may include government funding.

Oh no! A Murdoch publication thinks NPR is biased.

Meanwhile, I remember complaints that NPR is biased towards the government, big business and other large institutions because those are the types of people who get invited to appear.

Some people in Brazil accept a “let’s get frostbite on our feet” challenge, get frostbite on their feet. It is okay, though, because a firefighter was supervising.

Goddamn, people are fucked up in the head.

In the head, or in the feet?

Pain is nature’s way of saying “Stop doing that!”

Spoiler: He didn’t make it.

And death or maiming is her way to make you stop.
