Meh. Charging $50 for an asprin or $500 for a doctor to glance in the door at you is artificially overpriced. But use of a helicopter and crew for x amount of time is genuinely expensive.
Plus, you need to have a “we’re not a taxi service” fee to discourage the “I’m too tired to walk down” abusers.
Which is a good reason to avoid using it if you can.
Ambulance service fees are ridiculously expensive, can’t even imagine how Kafkaesque the cost is for a life flight off a mountain would cost… you know insurance is not covering that. Thank goodness for liberal bankruptcy laws.
Tony Romo has been placed on leave by CBS Sports after his (alleged) drunk driving escapade, so for awhile at least, we won’t have to hear his irritating raspy voice blathering on and on during TV football broadcasts.

If you want to watch the police-cam video, here it is. The first five minutes are on the highway bridge where he was pulled over, then the last half is in what appears to be the police parking garage.
When Romo first joined CBS Sports, I thought he was great. He would watch the plays in real time, predict what was going to happen, and be able to dissect exactly what the QB was thinking. I think as time has gone on, he has lost a little of that “QB Whisperer” mojo, and also the game itself has changed (and team strategies have changed) to the point where he’s now somewhat out of touch. He was my favorite announcer for a bit there, now he irritates me probably just as much as he does you.
I can never hear the name “Tony Romo” without thinking of that great clip made from the movie Downfall with Hitler in his bunker raving about the Cowboys and Romo. Which seems to have disappeared from YT.
Having said that, I’m not sure what I think about the police bodycam footage being released and widely publicized. We got rid of the pillory a couple centuries ago because of many things, but abuse potential was one of them.

Montana is also free for SAR evac. Helicopter, wheeled litter, any medical resources on scene are free. If they fly you to an ambulance, the ambulance will obviously cost money. But they can fly you to your friend’s vehicle for free. Too bad this guy didn’t know that!
Call as soon as you need help. Waiting until you realize you absolutely need it makes it more dangerous for everyone involved.

It happened pretty much right after the first season. There’s good reason to believe CBS told him to tone it down and be more like “regular” analysts.
I get the feeling network executives might not be in touch with regular folks, sometimes. Or maybe all the time.
They don’t want everyone else on their commentating staff looking stupid. And pretty quickly the few people who remember how Romo was that first season will have forgotten.
The hard core expert fan is not, and never has been, the core of network sportscasting’s target market. They want max headcount in their audience, not max expertise.
