Omnibus Stupid MFers in the news thread (Part 2)

This is true in other fields as well.

I’ll never forget when someone pointed out to me that a record company could sell more music by selling it to people who don’t particularly like good music than they could to people who do.

Fuck, is that why? How shitty, he was so good. Assholes.

Lowest common denominator. :frowning:

Wasn’t John Madden valued specifically for his expert analyses of the games? I’m not even much of a football fan and I could follow what he would explain.

I think he was a pioneer of sorts in drawing up plays during live telecasts to explain what was going on.

The fact that I’m not an expert would make me more appreciative, not less, for an expert commentator. I want somebody who can tell me the significance of why things happened.

Well, here’s a day I never thought I’d see - a grift so nakedly corrupt that even FIFA wants no part of it.

Gianni Infantino is facing an ultimatum from Uefa: resign or face an emergency no-confidence vote.

It is understood all 55 of Uefa’s member nations would opt to oust Infantino in a vote of no-confidence if he refuses to step down. Uefa can trigger such a vote with just 43 member nations.

European football’s governing body announced a loss of confidence on Saturday morning and has demanded change after Infantino was forced to scrap his £15bn plan to sell a stake in the World Cup.

Infantino drew criticism across the footballing world after it was revealed that he planned to sell 30 per cent of World Cup commercial rights to private investors.

The scheme would have resulted in a group of investors controlling the commercial interests of Fifa’s top men’s and women’s competitions.

Oh, lordy, lordy, you remind me of this classic post by Master_Wang-Ka: You sneaky little Jehovah's Witness bastard! - #31 by Master_Wang-Ka

Granted, not a widely applicable way to discourage proselytizers, but remarkably effective.

Also at the hospital there’d be better ways to keep the pole completely immobile while the cutting was done.

He was good, in the beginning. Like Romo. Him and Summerall made a great team.

But like all things, Madden got worse in his later years. He got sloppy, he got boring, and he got repetitive.

And he started leaning more into his schtick: the “BOOM!” persona, the ridiculous Frankenstein turkeys on Thanksgiving, the Maddencruiser, etc. He became a caricature of his earlier self.

Yes!

When it was just a means of transportation for someone who wouldn’t fly, I thought it was great. In those early years, it was just a motor home.

Then it got a paint job, and became a thing unto itself. “Ooh the Maddencruiser is making an appearance!” Whoopy fucking do.

Adlai Stevenson when told that ‘the thinking voter is with you!’:
Yes, but I need a majority.
(More or less, too lazy to look it up)

That change happened when he moved from CBS to Fox. I’m convinced he was told to emphasize the “Maddenisms”. I think he improved when he left Fox years later

The important point to remember is that the four teens escaped being arrested by the police!

Has a few seconds of the pickup flying:

One of whom made that decision and three of whom were along for the final ride. Oops.
