Something, something highway middle of the night. Daughter didn’t get to borrow the car anymore.

Some turns of phrase make one giggle uncontrollably for far too long.
I know my Porsche 911SC would do at least 135 mph. I know my Yamaha XJ600 Seca II will do 120 mph (but not 122 mph). I don’t know how fast my YZF-R1 will go, but I know it will do (inadvertently) at least 106 mph.
I’ve been asked how fast a car of mine would go. (Not because any of them were particularly fast models; more likely the questioner thought they might be too slow.)
My answer’s been consistent: “It’ll go faster than I will.”
(And no I’m not always dawdling along below the speed limit! But I’ve never had a car that wouldn’t go way above it.)
My old '92 BMW 325 could go pretty darn fast, but I’ll never know how fast because this was the era when speedometers only went up to 80. I wound it all the way 'round back to zero once, I’d guess 115mph maybe.
Theoretically, it would go 146 mph.
In Germany, it’s possible to rent a diesel Mercedes that’ll do 130.
Or so I hear.
I got up over 130 in my Nissan 350Z. Legally, on a race track.
(That picture was taken at Watkins Glen. I think my top speed was on the back straight at Pocono.)
Nah, it’ll be some expensive-ass poorly designed piece of shit.
I don’t want to brag, and I don’t consider myself a reckless driver, but that’s cute from this German’s POV. I did 160 km/h all the time with my last car, a puny 1.1 l, 3 cylinder Skoda Fabia with 60 hp, of course legally. I once tested the max speed, and downhill with tailwind I got the car up to more than 180 km/h (but that was only for a short time to test the limit).
Someone at NBC News went way out of their way to drag Biden’s name into this tweet.
Who was in the White House before the Biden administration, NBC? Who indeed?
A stock R1 from ‘98 to ‘03 will top out at 170-180 mph. From ‘04 on, they’re faster but electronically limited to around 185 mph.

We live just inside the sticks (not quite out in them) and struggle to get broadcast TV but can get every local transponder, so I have had the opportunity to observe the newses. CBS is an easy one to get, as is fox and scripps. Have not watched the ABC one much, because it is Sinclair-affiliated. But when we get the local NBC station, their work resembles real journalism in a way unlike the others. So, it kind of troubles me, the notion of jackassery coming from NBC.

My inner cynic says the line-go-up techbros who’ve taken over news media in the last decade see Trump’s campaign falling apart and the economy doing well, so they’re pushing hard for negative headlines about Biden to drag his polls down because a “horse race” election cycle makes for better ratings.
CNN’s definitely been engaging in the same behavior for awhile now. On Tuesday, when Trump just barely eked out a win in NH and Biden got a much larger win despite not even being on the ballot, the above-the-fold headline their website went with was something like “Cracks Form In Biden’s Coalition”. It’s way too consistent to be accidental.

I don’t think there’s much connection between a local news station and the news on the network with which the station is affiliated. Their feeds from other locations may (or may not) use network resources, but usually that’s about it. (This sometimes bears repeating when noting local Fox network affiliate stations’ news programs do not contain Fox News material.) So if you’re lucky enough to get good quality local news from a local affiliate, it probably doesn’t reflect much or any credit on the affiliated network news organization.
Whatever suit at McDee’s proffering the hideous recurrection…
There's "no harm" in trying out the McRib, but here's what you should know about it.
Part of me wants to question WHY Canada has been being excluded from the annual resurrections that we get in 'Murrica, and another (arguably louder) part of me wants to know WHO, exactly, in the production of that story, decided to characterize the McRib as a “burger,” and put them on my . . . LIST.
(Dammit, I’ve edited the word “list” three times now, and I still can’t get it to look as portentously ominous as I mean to imply.
Everybody, just pretend that there’s a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder when you read the word “list.” above, OK? TIA!
I miss certain features of vBB…)

But not the strict 5 minute edit window, right?
No, that part kinda sucked.
I simply use, “The List.” Make sure they can hear the capital letters.
Sweet! I used the correct “capital” on the first try!
