I’m starting to wonder if the existence of this thread isn’t causing the return of trolls in sock form?
Thanks to this thread, they now know we like to speculate such things. Which might be the very impetus causing them to come back.
I think they’re just angry idiots who think they have points to make and they think they’re being banned for those ideas and not for their behavior.
Looks like someone asked about us on an alt-right conspiracy site on June 2nd of this year, which perhaps explains some of the influx. Found that on a google search that I didn’t spend a whole lot of time on and didn’t look deeper.
SA has exactly one post in that thread, so I don’t get the giddy pleasure.
There’s an awful lot of “Ooh, ooh, me too, look what I found” in this thread.

Exactly. I view this as a snark thread, where we get to point and laugh at the trolls. Who cares if it attracts them here? It’s the Pit, after all, so we can really tell them off. Nobody’s forcing you to read it if you don’t like it.
Yeah, this thread is a big old pit of gleeful schadenfraude, no need to sugar-coat the obvious. And an easy way to let off steam when somebody annoys you but isn’t worth a dedicated pitting. I sort of love it.
I do feel sorry for the ones who thought he’d be better than Hillary because they’re imbeciles. The ones who voted for him because they hate America? Not so much.

I suspect that the phenomenon of troll socks predates the existence of this thread.
I suspect that too. What I am unsure of however, is the number of trolls/socks currently infesting this board.

I think it’s in line with the number currently infesting the internet in general.
The number of apologists for Trump, for Trump voters, and for regressive thinking in general has been on the upswing.
I do find it interesting that a lot of it seems canned and rehearsed, which makes me wonder about its source.
