I don’t mind the odd CT thread. It does fight ignorance, and they can be amusing. There’s a continuum, though. Holocaust deniers sicken me. Sandy Hook is not far behind. Is it a form of comfort-seeking or something for these people? Do they choose to believe in elaborate lies and hoaxes rather than face the reality that the world really is a horrible place sometimes? On the other hand, a good pyramid debate is fun for all ages. Flat earth, ditto. (Gravity, yanno, is because the earth is rising!) Good stuff for an afternoon and a few beers.
Wow, that thread really rode the rails after I posted last night.
That guy probably refuses to shop at Walmart because of those rumors that they were going to be used as prison camps under martial law. Afraid that they might just close the doors and keep him there at any moment!
how can we tell if some CT poster is a troll or a true believer? Does it make a difference? If they are a true believer then isn’t it a form of trolling en masse to use the truth to provoke him and cause him distress? Does it matter?
Note my only contribution to the thread was a pic of a Wile E. Coyote sized hole in a wall…
Cosmoquest has not one but two subforums for precisely that. Once it is clear that the OP melody ain’t-a-changin’, they close
the thread, and will suspend or ban you if you reopen it.
This guy will probably be cornfielded quickly. “gregor forgotten”, bumped this 2003 thread to say:
*i think we should bring back executions for children just for small things like theft only because kids ar out of control and we need to use one or 2 kids for example *
It’ll be interesting to see what happens next if we get just a thread closure on the basis of “this is now beyond pointless.” with no banning.
Do we get treated to the same monotone treatment of other CT(s)? Which one(s)? Does he become like Okrahoma, just spewing the Russian disinformation du jour? Does he disappear in a huff?
Enquiring minds are morbidly curious. But not much.
