Omnibus Trolls R Us Thread

We totally need a high five smiley. Congrats; those have got to feel extra good.

There’s a glitch in the new skin that occasionally doubles up the last word in a multi-word username.

So a post by e.g., you will have “Darren Garrison” in large font underlined blue at the upper left as expected, then “Garrison” right below that in also large font underlined blue, followed by the online/offline beachball icon then below that “Charter member”, “Guest”, etc. as always.

It only happens sometimes and seems to be an artifact of exactly which window size & zoom factor I’m using versus the length of the user’s name. I’ve got this page open in another tab right now and you’re “Darren Garrison Garrison” in all of your posts, but “running coach”, “Sunny Daze”, “John Mace”, and “Spice Weasel” are all shown normally. Everybody else has a one-word name and is immune to the bug.
The first time I saw that I thought somebody was doing a Joe job on Wesley Clark by joining as “Wesley Clark Clark” and hoping to pass as him while causing trouble. It’s pretty distracting when this happens.

He who shall not be named? He’s been trolling Giraffe for a while now.

I dunno if he’s a troll, but his choice of text and colors are suspect.

It’s as though MS Paint became sentient and decided to join up here.

He’s certainly smoking something.

And then mean ol’ Colibri had to ruin it for the rest of us.

That jerkface mayor of Jerkville.

Excellent

Not two that I don’t realize, but, when I signed up last month, I ran into an issue with Firefox which prevented me from making an account on several attempts. The Captcha simply wouldn’t display, so I had no way of validating that I wasn’t a robot.

I finally had to get into Chrome to try again, and it finally displayed… by which time I was getting considerably more sloppy with my typing, so the user name came out as “AI Proofreaer.”

The irony of both of these things - signing up to post in a thread about automation taking over most jobs and not being able to prove I’m not a robot, and also misspelling “Proofreader,” made me consider leaving it like that for the humor value… but I ended up re-registering with a different email to fix it

I know it won’t happen, but what I want is, after the “Banned” label under a user name, a notation as to why.

Just happened again, reading an old thread… I think “Ok, guess I won’t reply to the OP, they were banned. Wonder if it was the anger that I see in this thread? Hmm, Threadshitter or Sock?”

BANNED (Insulting Nuns/Ignoring Mods)
C’mon, it’d be fun. And helpful. Mods could say “One more warning and we’ll be reviewing your privileges… and deciding if you get BANNED (Total Douche) under your name for all eternity”

I would support this measure.

Not to junior mod or anything, but you really should email a mod to merge your accounts. They are pretty strict about users having multiple accounts.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll ask if they can delete the other one, haven’t used it and don’t intend to.

Such a bizarre exchange. Not sure if he’s taking the piss or just slow

Ehh. At least it wasn’t Comic Sans.

This is by far your best idea in months. Congratulations. I’m also a fan of Trolly McNaziFace. Genius.

It won’t happen, but it really, really ought to.

I wonder if they could make it work by applying the reason as a custom title in addition to the “banned” as status. That way with no board modifications we could have this. Some enterprising Mod ought to experiment with applying a custom title to a banned but not cornfielded former poster as an experiment.

It’s not a real practical idea. Just like all deaths are ultimately due to lack of oxygen to the brain, while the interesting thing is why the oxygen stopped flowing. Ultimately all bannings are for failure to adhere to the rules/TOS. The interesting part is why/how they failed.

Spammers get cornfielded, so pretty much the only categories we’d see are jerks, socks, and crazies. Sure, there’s endless variations of jerkitude. But trying to categorize it further just leads to lots of ways to say the same thing inconsistently.

Still and all it would be fun.

Bravo Sir digs. I salute your creativity.

Maybe this is a whoosh, but it was.

Well, there was this strange case in which I was involved.

Btw, if a sock named Sir digs shows up later this week, it’s not me.
