I’ve reported that OP as “probably a troll, and luring posters into pittish responses, maybe should be in the Pit for safety’s sake”. Because I even did a troll-callout that I had to edit back to “nevermind”.
The whole thread belongs in the Pit. As trolls go, it’s slightly amusing, so ban/lock/cornfield doesn’t seem proportionate. But moving it into the Pit? Take off the chains, and the gloves!

Yeah. I’m probably one of those. I added some weasel words, but not enough to fit the spirit of the rules. I *might *squeak by on the letter of the rules and my accumulated good karma.

I think it’s kind of great. A lot of our Trolls don’t even try. This guy, he not only puts in the effort, he gives us some humor. I wish more trolls would put this kind of work into their craft.

I never had this problem before I began participating in Pit threads. Once you get used to taking the filter off sometimes it can be hard to remember to leave it on all the rest of the time.

As said lower in that thread, every now and then he bites off on some racist clickbait. How much that’s his real wont or just a guilty pleasure is hard to say.

Quartz seems to have mostly rational conservative-leaning posts, but then randomly throw in something over the top from time to time. I almost regret answering his SA question in good faith, because it wasn’t asked in it.
I lost respect for him when he tried to bully davidmich, one of the most inoffensive posters on the board, by Pitting him for asking quirky questions. It just reminded too much of picking on the odd kid in the schoolyard just because they act kind of funny. That question is a lot worse than anything davidmich ever asked.

I started to read that post and it was as though I had transported back in time to 1961 and was reading from one of those True Confession magazines I used to love when I was 12.
And here’s octopus jumping up from under his bridge to stick up for Roy Moore against the four women who have made well-substantiated claims of sexual misconduct, the youngest of whom was 14 at the time. And here are a bunch of people derailing the thread by trying to discuss it with him as though he had a shred of rationality or honesty. What the fuck does a troll have to do to actually get banned around here? Failing that, why don’t people realize that the ignore list is a thing?
