Omnibus Trolls R Us Thread

I think it was alphafuckin1. Don’t know why he needed the number, there is no alphafuckin.

Is it actually possible to quite? I thought one had to get kicked out.

This place can be fuckin’ stressful. You can quit any time you like. I quit all the time. I just don’t, you know, announce it and blame Dopers en masse.

Quite, you!

Jesus fucking christ, that karol “woman.”

How does one quit?

Beethoven?
Chopin?
Liszt?
Art Tatum?

Stop posting. Duh.

Same way one quits drinking or quits heroin. Just stop. In the case of this board, just stop visiting, definitely stop posting. That’s how you quit the Dope. Maybe you’ll change your mind in 5 or 10 years and revisit, maybe you won’t.

Edit: Generic ‘you’ advice, nothing more.

Oh, Ok.

I might lay off here for a while (b/c the internet is kinda like a drug for me, and I’m a bit addicted), but you can interact with me at The American Conservative if you really want. Possibly be back once I get less, uh, addicted.

Maybe it was to indicate that among all alphafuckers, he was #1. Or maybe it was a prescient indicator of the number of distinguished posts he would make before being banned.

Wow, Urbanredneck got his one functional brain cell in high gear about an hour ago and came up with a couple of devastating arguments exposing Hollywood hypocrisy on gun control!

It turns out, first of all, that some major Hollywood celebrities who argue for gun regulation have armed personal bodyguards. Can you believe it? My only slight criticism of this intellectual tour de force from Urbanredneck’s solitary functioning brain cell is that it isn’t original; other cognitively impaired rednecks have previously pointed out the hypocrisy of President Obama in advocating gun control when he was protected by the Secret Service, who have guns!

But there’s more. If you follow the Hollywood scene closely, you will soon discover another astounding fact that Urbanredneck reveals: some Hollywood actors act in movies where their characters are shooting guns! Incredible but true.

Faced with this double-barreled assault of unassailable logic on the hypocrisy of gun control, I’m afraid I have go lie down for a while and try to recover my shattered nerves, and rethink my entire political philosophy.

Ikr?

I’m seriously in danger of abusing the ignore function this week.

I agree that shooting guns in fictional movies is neither here nor there, but how can you dispute that it is hypocritical for politicians (forget the President, that’s a unique case but let’s say Diane Feinstein for example who had a CCP herself) and actors to oppose gun ownership and concealed-carry laws while they themselves are guarded by private citizens who are carrying concealed guns?

One can think the world would be better off with fewer nuclear weapons without advocating that the US unilaterally disarm theirs.

Via handwritten letters to the editor?

We wish you luck with your addiction treatment. Take all the time you need. I hope it’s okay that while you’re gone, we’ll be seeing other people.

It depends. The claim was that these “liberals” supported “gun control”, which could be just about anything. If they simply favor “Extreme Background Checks”, one could presume that folks working for private security firms would be put through those checks and would not be working if they failed. Without a specific policy proposal from a specific person, the argument is just a bunch of mush.

Right. Somewhere along the line conservatives started equating ‘‘liberals’’ with ‘‘wanting to take away all guns’’ and that is a too extreme position for many liberals. Many just want more vetting, more extensive background checks, and me, personally, I just want convicted abusers not to be allowed to own guns, because the statistical correlation between domestic violence and gun violence is stupid high.

So unless the celebrity in question explicitly advocates for banning firearms across the board, there’s no way of knowing what level of gun regulation they support. Then there’s the obvious fact that many liberals want no regulation at all.

Ahhh, yes, do it on the sly.
