There have been several of those “just gathering information” posters recently, and several have been banned as soon as they’re brought to the attention of the moderators. Presumably they’re socks, but what is the goal here?
If I had to guess, the Board was hacked a while back. We all were advised to change our passwords. Hackers have some of our information, but not all. A possibility is that they gather common information to try and spoof passwords. This would correlate with inactive users who pop up acting like trolls. This is strictly my own supposition.
ETA: Although, honestly, I have to say some people have way too much time on their hands to spend going after a message board this hard. Maybe they think that they can get into other accounts though.

Serial socks. My impression is lunacy rather than any nefarious purpose.
They should know that you need to play things like this carefully. Join the forum, spend a year or so making thousands of posts, and then start digging for personal information, but subtly, like asking if you can see any landmarks from your house.
Or make up some fluff story about your happy memories of your first pet, “sparkle cat” and how happy she made you, then ask others for their stories about their first pets.

By “this one” do you mean a serial sockpuppet? If so, that’s only one of over 19,000 suspected sockpuppets on Wikipedia.
To be fair, I have no problem with his suggestion that the Board ban the word MJUSLIM.

I don’t understand anything about that story. His now-wife had to “marry” a local in order to stay at the local’s mother’s house? The Egyptian embassy had a staff member who badmouthed Islam? And there were staff members who were totally subservient to that guy?
It’s like a bad dream sequence.
Well, as dreams go, it’s becoming less scary. He’s suspended again, by the good graces of the Sparkly Jackbooted one.
