Omnibus Trolls R Us Thread

Why would you think that?

Wouldn’t be the first time somebody tried running a sociology experiment here.

On this, I remembered a ATMB thread from around the time I first joined about someone being suspended for starting too many threads too close together. Googling, I see that it was the king of boff, but it seems to be a pretty specific wrist-slapping and not a general discouragement on rate of posting.

We occasionally have newbies go wild and post a slew of new threads in a short time. If it persists, we may tell them to cool it. boffking has started more than 500 threads. The reason he got modded was because he was starting threads in GD and then not returning, and ignoring mod instructions to change his behavior. Returning to threads is less important in GQ than in other forums. In any case, since Steve has started only four threads in the last 8 years (albeit all today) he has a way to go before there might be a problem.

I was just wondering. Maybe he retired and now has time for these threads. I haven’t read but one, he seems pretty normal. But don’t go by me. YMMV

He appears to have retired in 2008.

Okay, there’s my goal for 2019. Retire so that I have more time for the Dope, and post so much that people wonder if I’m a troll!

Slight ping here…

Ya weenies, you hiding weenies!

Damn. I wish there was a general assholes thread. I mean, D’Anconia is pretty trollish with his constant JAQing-off (for which he has been warned), but this comment shows what a bottom-feeding piece of shit the guy is. Sorry to put this here, but he does not deserve his own Pit thread (though he probably does have one down there somewhere).

D’Anconia has demonstrated time and time again that he is subhuman.

There is a general fuckwit and twatwaffle thread. Assholes qualify too.

D’Anconia is a troll and a fuckwit. I think more of a Clothahump type troll who believes at least some of the fuckwitted shit he posts and also enjoys annoying people with it and getting negative attention.

Troll, through and through. What else would start out by telling the whole board that they’re not using the Internet correctly?

So, I guess the Ayn Rand reference is not ironic.

So Luci (?) Is starting to piss me off.

I think I understand where D’Anconia is coming from. You should not give a drug addict money for subsistence. You should not give a drug addict food directly, either, because food = money. You should not give a drug addict anything. However, in the interest of Freedom™, you must ensure that the nation is entirely awash in guns, so that anyone – say, for instance, a desperate heroin addict – can beg, borrow, or steal a gun. This always ends well.

D’Anconia’s stature relative to humanity is like that watery stuff that comes out of the ass of a diarrhetic horse.

You mean Luciano700? Please reserve “luci” as shorthand for elucidator, who does not belong in this thread.

Presumably the place D’Anconia is fundamentally coming from is indicated by his username.

But on the serious question of not enabling addicts - treatment experts have different views on where to draw the line, but food is one of the few things you can provide, depending on context. If somebody is still functioning at a fairly high level, obviously just buying them a $200 bag of groceries is enabling, it does just free up money to buy drugs in the way D’Anconia describes. But that didn’t sound like what the OP was describing. I certainly don’t think there’s any problem with giving a single meal to somebody homeless, at or close to destitution, possibly malnourished. And not all homeless people are drug addicts, of course.

I put a cite in the thread.

Oh, really. I couldn’t remember how to spell his whole name. He already ticked me off, I didn’t care enough to double check. He has started a new and incomprehensible thread. WTF?

D’Anconia is on my ignore list, but I find myself reading his posts anyway just to see if he can top his last one. He never fails to come up with something more snarkable than the last time.

I’ve actually tried to help the guy, but his ability to comprehend anything that he hasn’t already decided on is so bad that I might as well be arguing with a badly-programmed chatbot.
