Omnibus Trolls R Us Thread

Geez, quit replying to this ass.

Yes, obvious troll is obvious. Always remember that trolls are lonely, sad individuals whose lives are worthless, and they can only get pleasure out of doing things like this. That way, when they post, you just feel sorry for them, not angry.

I mean, look at this guy! You mention him, and he jumps right in. He was actually waiting for a response. Can you imagine how sad that is?

People say “don’t feed the troll.” I say, go ahead, and make their miserable lives a bit happier. Why not? It’s not like they’ll every amount to anything anyways.

Okay, quick–somebody mention Ruggero Oddi in mrka’s new thread.

DavidwithanAR15 is back…

Ravid is an odd duck.

Well, that’s why so many Medieval Jews were moneylenders, right? Because the Christians in charge didn’t let us make a living in too many other ways. That’s just how it was. (Then the Christians started hating on those “greedy Jews” that they had forced into the business in the first place, because logic was not these people’s strong point…)

If I recall my history correctly, Christians couldn’t go into money lending because charging interest of any kind on a loan was usury and sinful. I wouldn’t be too surprised if the periodic large scale attacks on Jewish enclaves was because certain upright men of the town were feeling a pinch in their purses.

**Exodus 22:25 –**If thou dost lend My poor people with thee money, thou art not to him as a usurer; thou dost not lay on him usury;

If you were not aware, Exodus is part of the Torah.

**Exodus 25:39 ** - *if you want to be happy for the rest of your life, make an ugly woman your wife. *

I learned that one in church before I graduated.

A good songwriter could make a fortune with that line.

:smiley:

Are you married?

Let’s take it slower please. At least offer dinner.

Trust me, you do not want to watch me eat (the sound-effects alone might be more than you can handle).

Read up on a kid called “Little Saint Hugh of Lincoln” some time (a blood libel-related UL that provided a legal fig leaf for the dispossession of quite a few Jews in the region).

The rabbis tended to interpret phrases like “My people” as referring to Jews only.

I guess it also depends on how you define Usury.

As;

  1. The charging of interest, or

  2. noun the illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest.

archaic
interest at unreasonably high rates.
Unless “Usury” originally meant ‘charging any amount of interest’, then there’s no biblical provision against being a banker or charging interest. The bible addresses what we in this day and age would consider things like high interest credit cards, payday and title loans, and fucking Western Sky.

What matters is the original language, not English, though. Anybody who speaks Hebrew know more about that?

And while I do consider Dravid odd and sometimes frustrating, he is describing what is a common theory about what happened.

I’m not very good with Hebrew (despite all those years of yeshiva education :(), but Jewish law has traditionally understood it as referring to charging any interest, even non-monetary situations. That’s why banks in Israel use some sort of complicated legal fiction so that they’re not technically charging interest even when they are.

It appears this one has caught you napping Czarcasm.

Get on it… :wink:

Oh look, Delicious is back, with a lovely little thread about slavery. No, I’m not cutting him any slack after his recent behavior. Slimebucket is a troll. He can go sit next to Kanye and think about what he’s done.
