At least this is one of the boards that gives them rope. I have heard rumors that there are boards where posters get banned in short order for going a little bit off-message, though I have never been on one of those.
There’s plenty of all sorts of boards, conservative ones as well, where if you question the echo chamber, you get banned.
Try even slightly questioning why someone needs an AR-15 or a 30 round magazine on a gun board.

What are the key hallmarks of a troll?
- Rarely/never posting substantive comments
- Throwing out inflammatory/stupid comments then doing little to nothing to defend them
- Derailing threads by turning them into a bunch of people calling them or their argument stupid
We had a conservative poster here for 18 fucking years who fit all those hallmarks. They never posted substantive comments. They never took part in debate in any meaningful way. Their comments were, consistently, the single worst thing in almost every single thread they took part in, with the threads consistently devolving into “The Troll Show”. And it took repeating an (incredibly stupid) line of argument that they had previously personally admitted was trolling to get them banned. Epistemic closure is one thing; not putting up with the guy who constantly shouts “FUCK OFF RETARDS” at the top of his lungs and has nothing of value to offer literally any conversation is not that.
I’m glad that’s over with. Good riddance to incredibly bad rubbish. It’s astonishing it took this long, but at this point I’m just happy it’s done.
Also, anyone who seriously thinks Ruined is Clothahump’s sock has clearly not spent much time reading the latter’s posts. Like, holy shit - this person is actually putting effort into their post, making rational points - I may disagree to many of them, or feel it leans too heavily on anecdotes, but they’re clearly thinking - and trying to look like something other than the loudest, dumbest, most douchey guy in the room.
Ruined, if you’re reading this, welcome to the Dope. Damn good first post. I don’t agree with you, but that single post has more substantive reasoning and actual content than literally everything I’ve seen Clothy post in the last year. Word of advice: the mods don’t take lightly to casual use of the word “fag”, or other slurs.
Having read the rest of the thread my opinion of Ruined has sunk somewhat, but he’s still well within the top quarter of right-wing posters here imho.
I concur - it was a well-written and substantive post and far beyond anything the recently-departed has ever produced. It therefore disappointed me that the first response was Morgenstern in a rather puerile mood.
I mean, Ruined’s posts are filled with outright false information and weak arguments but I’ve seen nothing to suggest our new friend is either a trock or otherwise arguing in bad faith. There’s plenty to actually debate and debunk there, unlike Clothahump’s usual “I’m right because I’m right-wing neener neener neener” nonsense.
Yeah, we’re dealing with a Bricker- or HurricaneDitka-level poster - I think you’re wrong, dangerously so, but you’re clearly putting quite a bit of thought into it either way, and I can respect that.
Looks like you (and Sunny Daze) did due diligence in your ATMB thread, convincing the mods to ban the poster. I’m rarely a fan of banning posters, and I never really engaged with that guy so he didn’t bothered me, but credit where credit is due. Good prosecutorial work!

And this is why people don’t take your troll pronouncements seriously. I disagree with BPC on some things, and think he’s getting a bit too far into the New Atheist mindset, but I have seen absolutely no evidence of trolling from him at all.
