I don’t know what you’re looking at, but my most popular book currently is priced from $23-$78 new on Amazon, and $35-$40 in Panama. One of my out-of-print books is on offer for $549.99 used. I’ve sold 12,000 copies of the first book so far, and am in discussions with my publisher for a second edition and a new line of multiple field guides. I make a very nice profit every year.
If you can refer me to new copies for sale for $0.01 on the internet, please provide a link so I can buy them up. I can easily resell them at more than 2000 times that price. Profit!!!
Thanks anyway for giving me the opportunity to update people on the success of my book!
In any case, my popular books are just a sideline. It’s not my “life’s work.” That’s my scientific publications, plus my work designing major museum exhibits.
That you feel the need to tell that to a stranger on a message board is extremely sad, but 100% expected, based on a rudimentary psychological analysis of your posts.
You’re the one who posted ridiculous information on my book sales. In any case, I’m telling my many friends on this site, not you. I don’t give a rat’s ass what you think about it.
How about a link to a new copy of my field guide selling for $0.01? As I said, I would be absolutely thrilled to buy up all available copies at that price. But I suspect you just made it up.
No need to ask, it’s right there in the mod instruction that told you to stop posting in that thread. The statement was that you not only insulted two posters and were warned for it, but that most of the rest of your posts in that thread were toxic. With which I completely agree, and will add that before you were kicked out of that thread, you were making posts with such lunatic obsession that the vast majority of the posts were your own, sometimes several in a row, and virtually every one was either denigrating someone or nasty in some other way. To which I will also add that most of your posts everywhere have that attribute, because you are an asshole. Or, as Gyrate put it rather more eloquently:
The bizarre thread dumping on Roger Ebert for no apparent reason was just the icing on the cake of your relentless douchebaggery.
You should be thanking me- your type has been dying to make that post, even going so far as to start typing a thread on it, but then you backed out because you weren’t sure if it would seem pompous, so in essence I did you a huge favor.
I was told this section is not the section for cites, it is the place for mindless insults- like what you did when referencing me earlier, yes?
What’s sad about it? Shoot, I just told a bunch of strangers on this messageboard that I’m dissatisfied with my ornamental burdock and am planning to eradicate it come fall, and I don’t think that’s sad in the least. Discussing random trivia about our lives with strangers is a big part of what this messageboard is all about.
I certainly don’t think that fellow Dopers making some remarks about their book sales is in any way “sad”, although I suppose it could make me sad to contemplate how much better Colibri’s books sell than mine do. But no, I’m happy for him, honest.
Wow, who knew with Ebert? I also don’t care for the following people and could be tempted to start a thread about any one, could you clue me in to whose off limits here so I wont accidentally cause such a stir again? (I know the first two are forboden.)
Oprah (great person, just find the book club obnoxious)
Ilhan Omar
Judy Sheindlin
Dr. Phil
Kevin Trudeau
Spike Lee
Kevin Smith
Leslie Jones
Adam Sandler
Talking minutiae is great, the need to let strangers know you are successful is the sad part. Like when the only thing that truly bothers Trump is someone questioning how wealthy he is.
I did thank you, but then reading for comprehension is not your strong point, is it? But no, I haven’t ever thought about posting anything new on it for the past seven years until you decided to bring it up. I very rarely post new threads in any case, and haven’t posted a new one in several years except ones related to modding.
I guess we’re not going to see that link to my book on sale for $0.01, are we? I’m disappointed.
What you’re missing is that many of the people reading my posts are not strangers. Some of us have known each other, at least our on-line personas and sometimes in person, for almost two decades.
